I love my Avalir Kurby...shompooed for the first time today and my carpets look good. Maybe since I was nervous I must not been going slow enough because I was running out fast with shampoo mix and the suds were coming out too much at the top and I had to refill my tank twice lol! But I got it done and my carpet looks great!
This guy shows up at my door wanting to demonstrate a kirby ,I had a rainbow for the last 12 years so I knew the price was going to be a doozy,as my mom used to say.Well, basically because when somebody shows up at your door to clean your carpet it isn't going to be cheap. But as I loved my rainbow and it had worked flawlessly for over 12 years,it was time to buy a new one. I had this room where the beige carpet was just looking awful,my son's bedroom,spills,etc,stained bad,I had been covering with rugs. I said if you can make this carpet clean I will buy it! I'll be darned if he didn't get that carpet looking like new! So I wrote him a check. That was one year ago. I have never regretted it. I do not have to pay a carpet cleaner once or twice a year now,and it fires up and works perfect every time! I love it. But my cat is scared to death of it! lol As soon as she see's me get it out she takes off and hides. :) With vacumes you get what you pay for. If you buy a 100.00 vacuum it will be okay for maybe a couple months if your lucky but it won't be long before it goes and then you have to buy another one. After 10 years you will spend much more than the 1700 it goes for with trade in. Well worth it.
GregJay Panem Et Circensis Lucky if you get a couple months out of a $100 vacuum? How hard & how often are you using that thing? Haha. I never had that problem myself. I've had $100 vacuums & $300 ones & they both lasted many yrs despite the cheaper plastic. And they were a helluva lot easier to move around the house. Having said that, the Kirby is a nice vacuum but I still feel that it is over priced ($1500-2500) & over complicated. It really needs less steps for attachments & a lighter weight. It also needs the be sold at a fair & consistent price. One shouldn't have to feel like they are at a used car lot when considering buying this thing. But, its not a bad vacuum. Just needs some improvements.
KoolCat ! It's good I got a G5 from 1997 the rare one I got it in 2013 in July and it's still going like brand new. The avalir can shampoo a small church and do a good job so Kirby is very powerful and can handle a commcal environment.
The video we are watching does not address the position of Neutral and Drive levers. After stopping, backing up multiple times, the lever was in Neutral. I was in Drive. Can anyone verify this, please and thank you. Before our Terrier eats the thing alive!

I got this together and when I took it off to put my vacuum head back on the belt will not pick up, it picks up on the release side? How did that happen?

I did my neighbors truck he works construction and it took so much dirt out of his seats he still talks about it. I sold for 3 months, awesome product, but the job was a bit sleazy. The hard floor cleaner looks like more work than what it's worth. mop and bucket looks faster.
Kirby is an amazing, versatile and effective system. It's satisfying to see the vacuum has remained the same, but with minor cosmetic refinements. "If it isn't broke, don't break it"
My G5 has no shampooer. Any benefit to buying this one than the older design? Im also always on the lookout for accessories for the old 1960s or so model i got from my grandma. I forget the model, its red and white trimmed with little kirby logos all over the bag, no rock catcher.
We have had our Sentria for 10 years now, bought new with all the accessories and I have never regretted the purchase. The Sentria vacuums so well you rarely have to shampoo it. When I do, I use the carpet cleaner and it the carpet way better than the ones you get from the store or especially the trucks (as they leave too much water behind). I wish we had the shampooer the Avalir has though as it looks to be an improvement over ours (ours is open faced and sometimes will spill out a little on the floor. My question, does the Avalir shampoo unit work on the Sentria, just curious.
Name another company that literally will still service every product they ever sold too! I have a 1960s model from my grandma and a 90s model G5 from my mom i use almost daily. Everyone's selling them in Australia cheap, I got mine for $30 with all attachments plus polisher and fluffed. But I now know why! There's almost no dry foam products. There's Kirby if you can find it and another that you can only buy by the barrel "220ltr". TELL US AN EASY RECIPE
Vacuum is great buy I regret buying it! I feel the salesman scammed us (5,000 AUD???) and the service centers as well (last time they said the light is damaged), I'm just scared they'll say oh this part is broken, you'll have to buy one. LIterally, we finish 1 - 2 max hepa filter bags in a year. If a part gets damaged with that frequency of usage, then I think something's wrong with your product. not to mention you have to get it serviced every 6 months to 1 year for around 100 bucks! that's probably like servicing a small motorbike. I wish I just bought one of those fancy wireless dyson vacuum cleaners. I hope kirby reads this.

I used to sell, the body of the vacuum should still be the same G3 or newer and should work. I have a G5 and this would work on that. as a matter of fact the only thing that looks different than the shampoo attachment for the G3 and up is they've got a fancy lid for the waste tray, possibly a different detergent, and the brush changes from hard bristle to soft bristle. if you've got a G3 shampoo unit, I would just look for a replacement hard floor brush, It would most likely fit. worst thing to happen you have to resell it on eBay or craigslist.
I had the worse looking carpet on the staircase in my house something had to be done. The Kirby sales person showed up to my door (I had no idea who they were at first) offered to clean my carpet. I told her "no", she then said the magic words "I can clean your staircase". Long story short I am now living at my job two extra days a pay period until this is paid off and it is going into my Last Will and Testament.

Thanks for the question. Every successive Kirby model has featured improvements to design and performance, both internal and external. While today's Avalir model still maintains the functions found on a G3 (and even earlier models), the unit has been improved over the years and outperforms the G3. We plan to keep improving future models as well.

missj Stephens You do realise that steam cleaners don't really disinfect either? To kill Bactria you have to maintain contact for several seconds, raising the temperature substantially. Passing a blast of steam quickly over a floor isn't sufficient. Read the small print - may instructions say "contact time 90 seconds" for bacteria destruction- that's a minute and a half for every area of floor!

I agree with this. I love my kirby and hate it. I hate how heavy it is. I also hate how when I use it at my Mothers house it pulls the carpet all the way up. I am starting to fall in love with it again. I bought this system for my S2. I'm praying I fall in love agian. This was a huge investment I made years ago.
Georgana Romano its worth it. A kirby is a lifetime investment. I still use daily the 90s model G5 my parents traded their G3 for when i was a kid. I think the drive was rebuilt once. But the design has never changed much and they are easy to fix yourself. All solid, simple, construction, the way things used to be built in America. Plus they have multiple uses besides just vaccuming and shampooing.
Shampooing carpet is a lot of work regardless . Kirby just allows you not to have to buy a carpet cleaner so you only need one device for your carpet care it seems to most of us . One can always buy a separate cleaner of its too much work .

Hello. I would recommend a clean microfiber surface mop for speed of drying. They are very inexpensive @ $10 Will not only help the tile dry faster but will Polish out any water marks. Good luck!
Kirby has been one of the top sellers for the past hundred years. and keep being the best because of there quality. shark will not last as long as kirby.

Steam, heat, pressure and agitation and especially extraction would the last step for a perfect kirby especially for grout cleaning. But this new model kirby would be the size of a lawn tractor. But this new style attachment has done a great job and the engineers have done well.
Kirby's are not for me, they're a great vacuum, but I like to have my vacuum and carpet cleaner as two separate machines. My grandma and my parents have Heritage 2s and those are amazing, I just prefer machines with on board attachments.
Just buy a Rainbow vacuum. So much easier and many less steps to shampoo a carpet. It does an amazing job and it takes half the time to even set this unit up! I traded my Kirby for the Rainbow. That's how I know firsthand the drastic difference.

Am dat o grămadă de bani pe el și am ajuns sa îl urăsc că e atât de greu.. am artroza și gonartroza și multiple hernii discale..am astm bronșic și rinita alergica..am crezut că aparatul îmi va ușura munca.. M-am înșelat.. tot în genunchi, cu laveta, curat mai ușor și mai bine.. :(
La banii dați trebuia să pot curata ușor de praf și pilotele și paturile de pe pat.. dar acest lucru este foarte greu, pt că sunt trase în perie.. covorașele trebuie ca o alta persoana sa le tina, că altfel sunt trase odată cu peria.. Mare chin pt atâția bani.. :(
This is a piece of crap. I cannot get the carpet shampooer to work properly. It petty much dumped the whole tank onto my carpet and it will not suck it up or "cycle" the water. My ex-husband had to have this stupid machine and I got stuck paying for it. Now, after paying $2,000 for a machine that is subpar and doesn't work, I get to go rent one at 9 PM at night as not to ruin my carpet.

I can vacuum twice with my ultimate g and my Dyson will pull up a disgusting amount of stuff after, only reason the Kirby isn't in the dumpster is because I shampoo the carpet with it
Dank Memes belt is fine as the roller spins it picks up what you can see on the carpet but my Dyson gets out what the Kirby can't. And the Dyson has a five year warranty at 1/3 the cost. I'm good for 15 years minimum.
just because your belt isn't broken that's does not mean it doesn't need to be replaced, belts stretch out and loose there tension, therefore the roller will not be spinning at a consistent speed when it touches the carpet, belts should be changed every 6 months to a year, if you still feel your kirby is not cleaning that well, it's probably time to replace the brushroll,
@@Berrypancakes229 a Dyson sucks about 2 and a half time less than a Kirby. The amount of air flow and a 2 hp little beast makes the dysons useless, just try it for your self

Once you use it a few times, it goes quite fast. I've had Kirbys all my life, and I know these machines inside and out and they do an incredible job.

The vacuum part is awesome, with regular use it keeps the carpets so clean that you don't need to shampoo them as often though.

I got a Kirby Tradition for $15. With a little TLC it runs great! Would kick a Dysons butt!

I used to sell, the body of the vacuum should still be the same G3 or newer and should work. I have a G5 and this would work on that. as a matter of fact the only thing that looks different than the shampoo attachment for the G3 and up is they've got a fancy lid for the waste tray, possibly a different detergent, and the brush changes from hard bristle to soft bristle. if you've got a G3 shampoo unit, I would just look for a replacement hard floor brush, It would most likely fit. worst thing to happen you have to resell it on eBay or craigslist.

I had the worse looking carpet on the staircase in my house something had to be done. The Kirby sales person showed up to my door (I had no idea who they were at first) offered to clean my carpet. I told her "no", she then said the magic words "I can clean your staircase". Long story short I am now living at my job two extra days a pay period until this is paid off and it is going into my Last Will and Testament.

While today's Avalir model still maintains the functions found on a G3 (and even earlier models), the unit has been improved over the years and outperforms the G3. missj Stephens You do realise that steam cleaners don't really disinfect either? To kill Bactria you have to maintain contact for several seconds, raising the temperature substantially. Passing a blast of steam quickly over a floor isn't sufficient. Read the small print - may instructions say "contact time 90 seconds" for bacteria destruction- that's a minute and a half for every area of floor!

I want to spray my sofa with water and detergent and then extract the moisture with a water extractor nozzle i have that fits perfectly to kirby's hose...so is that possible? or the water will damage the machine?

Georgana Romano its worth it. A kirby is a lifetime investment. I still use daily the 90s model G5 my parents traded their G3 for when i was a kid. I think the drive was rebuilt once. But the design has never changed much and they are easy to fix yourself. All solid, simple, construction, the way things used to be built in America. Plus they have multiple uses besides just vaccuming and shampooing.
Shampooing carpet is a lot of work regardless . Kirby just allows you not to have to buy a carpet cleaner so you only need one device for your carpet care it seems to most of us . One can always buy a separate cleaner of its too much work .

Hello. I would recommend a clean microfiber surface mop for speed of drying. They are very inexpensive @ $10 Will not only help the tile dry faster but will Polish out any water marks. Good luck!

Kirby has been one of the top sellers for the past hundred years. and keep being the best because of there quality. shark will not last as long as kirby.

Steam, heat, pressure and agitation and especially extraction would the last step for a perfect kirby especially for grout cleaning. But this new model kirby would be the size of a lawn tractor. But this new style attachment has done a great job and the engineers have done well.

Kirby's are not for me, they're a great vacuum, but I like to have my vacuum and carpet cleaner as two separate machines. My grandma and my parents have Heritage 2s and those are amazing, I just prefer machines with on board attachments.

Just buy a Rainbow vacuum. So much easier and many less steps to shampoo a carpet. It does an amazing job and it takes half the time to even set this unit up! I traded my Kirby for the Rainbow. That's how I know firsthand the drastic difference.

aparatul cu talpa atasata este foarte greu.. trebuie ridicat pe pat, sau la trecerea dintre camere și hol..
Am dat o grămadă de bani pe el și am ajuns sa îl urăsc că e atât de greu.. am artroza și gonartroza și multiple hernii discale..am astm bronșic și rinita alergica..am crezut că aparatul îmi va ușura munca..
M-am înșelat.. tot în genunchi, cu laveta, curat mai ușor și mai bine.. :(

This is a piece of crap. I cannot get the carpet shampooer to work properly. It petty much dumped the whole tank onto my carpet and it will not suck it up or "cycle" the water. My ex-husband had to have this stupid machine and I got stuck paying for it. Now, after paying $2,000 for a machine that is subpar and doesn't work, I get to go rent one at 9 PM at night as not to ruin my carpet.

I can vacuum twice with my ultimate g and my Dyson will pull up a disgusting amount of stuff after, only reason the Kirby isn't in the dumpster is because I shampoo the carpet with it
Dank Memes belt is fine as the roller spins it picks up what you can see on the carpet but my Dyson gets out what the Kirby can't. And the Dyson has a five year warranty at 1/3 the cost. I'm good for 15 years minimum.

Change your Belt, Bag and check to see if the brushes are touching the carpet.
just because your belt isn't broken that's does not mean it doesn't need to be replaced, belts stretch out and loose there tension, therefore the roller will not be spinning at a consistent speed when it touches the carpet, belts should be changed every 6 months to a year, if you still feel your kirby is not cleaning that well, it's probably time to replace the brushroll,
