💪 The OEM Chevy oil filter comes up short with 133 square inches of filter media with a 25-30 micron filtration rating. The simple leaf spring design to secure the oil seal loses tension and can lead to dirty oil blow-by. It also doesn't come with an integrated magnet to help protect your GM diesel engine from ferrous metal particles.

I believed all of the hype so I tried the PPE filter. My oil pressure was extremely high, then within 100 miles it blew out and dropped 11 quarts on the road. I’ll stick to AC Delco.

Yeah this is all a bunch of baloney. 99.9% of 3.0's are running just fine with the stock filter and ACD oil. I've put 42k on my AT4 in a little over a year including a lot of heavy towing/hauling out west up and down high passes in 100deg heat. My last UOA showed that the oil was in fine shape after 7k miles. I live in northern Wisconsin where I also see -20's in winter and again....my winter UOA's are just fine as well using ACD filters and oil. Bigger is NOT always better. I've also cut open one of the PF66 filters at 7k and it was still in fine shape. There's NO issue with that filter in that engine.

Its more about the microns it can filter out than the size. Size matters more when filters can take more smaller particles.

Do they publish the differential pressure through the filter? I assume the larger area is to account for the finer filter media? If the pressure drops too much across the filter that would lead to low oil pressure to the engine. No?

GM made intercoolers with plastic end tanks that melt….. ask me how I know. BTW PPE make an upgraded intercooler for the 2.8 Duramax…..
