Quite a haul! You can tell a ton of engineering went into that printer, wasn't cheap to produce. Robot camera work is super cool. Mahalo for sharing! : )

Indeed, it's sad that the original owner couldn't get it to work as intended. But it was super interesting to pull apart and I am glad to have the parts :-)

I do like taking things apart.
Great tracking from your robotic camera at the start!

Cheers, I've been wanting to play now with some advanced video FX type stuff, still learning a lot but hoping to feature more of that sort of thing in future videos

Nice little haul of goodies to tinker with. Did the Mrs get the box it looked like it was fixed on the 2020 extrusion for a skeleton?

Yep, I put a string of led lights in it. It's slightly less rigid without the aluminium extrusion. But pretty good.

Quite interesting but I'd have been inclined to either work around the RFID (possibly working out how to transfer it from one reel to another) or just replace the central electronics with open source stuff.

Honestly I thought about doing both of those things. There are hacks in the wild for getting around the rfid issue and I'd guess it would be pretty easy to sub in a duet or something as the brains. The thing is, I already have a prusa MK3 which is a fantastic printer. I don't need another. But the parts are cool :-)

Which optical sensor did you pull

I don't recall what type they were, looked like a generic 3 pin optical sensor.
