    I've got a DaVinci Junior ... I could never complete a 3D-printout with this machine. The filament stucks in the dispenser, the feeder cuts the filament, the printer stops dispensing and turns empty figures in the air. It's an exceptionally good demonstration, of how good a new machine can fail. The price compared to the result is exceptional too. Much too high.

      I'm having the same problem. My feeder tube keeps popping out from the extruder. Giving me a runaway filament.

    Oh, by the way. He's not kidding about the "hot" part. I have now started using the printing head as an electric brander. I'm making millions one upping the tattoo industry.
    Disclaimer:
    Not all of this statement is true.

    Very informative Carl, thank you, this video pretty much made my mind up to buy the Junior :)

    Thanks a lot. My printer was printing garbage like the piece you showed. I had cleaned the nozzle with the provided wire poker, but it didn't fix much. The "filament down the hole trick" did it. I'm printing again. Thanks.

    We bought one for our family for Christmas. How long does it actually take to print something? My 19 year old says hours or days?

    Thanks for the video. My prints seem to start fine, but if the span of any object is over about 2 ½ inches, the extreme edges warp away from the bed after 10 or 20 minutes. Why doesn't the filament remain adhered to the print bed? I'm using the included bed liner. Is there any way to prevent this?

    How do you use pla for the da vici 1.0 1.0a and the 1.0AIO

    Hi Carl. I am 16 and have the printer and it is great, although slightly limited at times. I bought the printer on amazon at 2/3 the price of the original🙂👍. My bed seems to have come fairly level too, I will check it however.
    I have a quick question: What is the fan on the extruder actually for? If the extruder is hot and the fan is off for too long could it damage the printer?
    I need to look into how the machine actually works.

      I have done the deep clean. I think it worked.
      I did it twice, it was much cleaner the second time.

    Hi, I like your videos. I got the Da Vinci Junior just today!! It's my first 3D printer. I fix computers and often use SketchUp, but am new to printing out my designs. So far the printer is great! My big question, is, should I unload the filament when I go to bed? I don't think I'd need to ever unload the filament unless there's an error..?
    My second question, and I thank you kindly in advance, is... The sample vase built into the printer, prints fine except one really rough line that goes up one side. I printed 3 times, and tried leveling the printer, cleaning the print head, etc. The whole vase is absolutely perfect except that one super rough line. I tried printing something unrelated from my PC and that object seems to have printed just fine, but it's square.
    So I'm wondering...If the Da Vinci Junior takes issue with round objects such as a coffee mug. Making a bumpy super-rough line up one side..?

      @reluttr2 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Royce Barber Sadly there is no getting around that line... basically its where one layer ends, the extruder moves up, and the next layer begins.
      As far as unloading filament... well it depends. If you live in a very humid environment it probably would be best to take it off and put it in a storage zip-lock with some sort of silica packet. A lot of people generally would advise you take the filament out and do the same regardless, as it absorbs moisture from the air and generally can cause problems if it gets bad enough.
      But... the Jr's spools are about half the size of a standard bulk filament spool, so if you print often you probably wont encounter any issues until near the very end of the spool anyways. At least thats how its been for me. So I just leave the spool in the printer. :D

      +Darkmastergrey You're my hero, thank you kindly. I've been having a blast with the Da Vinci Junior, and I continue to have hope someone will figure out a way to unlock using 3rd party filament. I know it's a long shot at this point, but there's always hope.

    Carl, HELP! I replaced my filament and I unscrewed the filament feed from the top of the extruder, the threads that bolt attaches too inside the black box, FELL OUT - so they are rattling around inside the extruder box. Can you please offer advice on how to disassemble the black extruder box on the Da Vinci Jr? It looks like its tabs, no bolts and i'm scared to breaking it.

    • @Zubberbilly
      @Zubberbilly 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +JENNIFER HILLEGASS I did the same thing. remove the ribbon cable by pushing on the tabs on the side, pop the extruder off using the white button on top of it andd fiddle with the extruder upside down until you can see the threads. Once you can, use a nozzle cleaning tool or the wirebrush to align the holes to the point where you can rethread the piece.

      No problem. I also made a filter that helped a bunch with the filament feeder/extruder clicking.

    I just got a da vinci jr. 1.0 (my first 3d printer: i'm completely new to this), and when i tried the "load filament" option the first time, it worked fine, and i immediately unloaded it to make sure it works. now whenever i try the "load filament" option, no plastic is coming out of the nozzle. I've tried cleaning it with the thin wire they provide, and i've restarted it several times, but it still won't work. heating seems not to be the problem: it says it's heating to about 205c. any suggestions?

      +John Murphy Just proceed to feed in more filament untill it starts to flow out of the nozzle. (I did it this way on a Ultimaker of a friend)

      +John Murphy Did you ever get it to work? I have the same problem and have tried 20 times to load more filament and seems like there is a block in the extruder part. Just wondering if you had any luck and could help me out.

    • @KayoMichiels
      @KayoMichiels 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Tammy Rabbitt It might be possible that the extruder hasn't been warmed up before you loaded the filament. (I can't know it for shure since i'm using a different 3D printer)

      +MK3424 I have the Da Vinci Jr. 1.0. It looks like it must have had a clog and the filament came out from around the nozzle and not in the middle like it should. I cleaned it all out and trying now to see if it solved the problem. It says it heated the extruder before it loaded it. Not sure what is going on yet. I know the extruder is working because I've burned my fingers several times trying to figure this out.

      Ryan Mayfield I like having both, just remember that this is PLA filament only, it doesn't take ABS filament.
