Hi Capt Leon & Capt Ken. I’m a newer subscriber and I have to say that informative channels like this one has at least in part lessened my hesitation in making my 1st boat purchase. I’m a proud owner of a 2024 222SD now. Could you share any other advice or maybe roll out another vid on breaking in a new boat the right way ? Thanks👍🏻
Congrats on your new boat! Not planning any new videos on breaking in a new boat, but peruse my channel as there are dozens of videos on Yamahas that you may find helpful. Where on Long Island are you doing your boating?
Looks great son, keep the ice chest filled, I'll see you in July for my Long Island vacation away from the Florida heat. There's nothing better than day on the GSB, clams on the half shell and ice cold beer. (thanks Leon, great job on both the video and the commentary)
Captain Leon, Thank you so much for this amazing video. I have a 252SD on order. I spend summers in Southampton NY and was. hoping to keep it in the water all summer. I realize now that this is unrealistic, but do I really need to pull it out of the water every time use it to flush and clean from brackish water use? this seems like an incredible amount of maintenance. I will mainly be using the boat in the Peconic Bay. Thank you for any advice you may be able to offer.
Hey Kenneth, I’m not sure I would say brackish water is what you will be in. Both bodies of water you mention are salt water. Either way, if you leave it in for two weeks and then pull it, you will see the amount of growth that quickly grows on the hull. That growth will be in your jet pump and internals I’m sure. Now if you use the boat everyday vs. letting it sit, that will help. You may want to consider getting it bottom painted with an anti-fouling paint. Try it for a week and see, but make sure your bilge pump is always on to remove rain and other water while unattended. Good luck.
No doubt, a beautiful boat, thanks. You will have to figure out your fishing to family fun ratio. You can always find a way to fish off of any boat, and the fish don't know the difference. Thanks for watching.
Considering the 252. How is the ride in chop? Is it pretty smooth or does it bang agains wakes? We have a family member with a bad back and he's not able to take a rough ride any longer.
Hi Bradd, I live on Long Island and none of the dealers could get me the 252SE. I ended up finding one on a dealer's floor in February. Highway Marine in Quakertown PA. It was the last one at the time!
Why did you and Ken go with Yamaha over other boats? I just absolutely love the idea of no Props to harm my children...That is my main reason. I also enjoy Yamaha quality... only run their four wheelers before. I'm in MN so no maiden voyage videos with me for my purchase. You have also hung onto your vessel for a while.....anyway you could do a buyers guide video? I want something newer but not brand new....Have you considered upgrading or lived with the things you don't like? I am so nervous about buying a used boat, unless it is from a guy like you! But you never know what you're going to get. First boat purchase....kind of nervous
The reliability of Yamaha and the safety of no prop is huge! You're right, buying a used boat is quite a gamble. Stick with an original owner who took pride in their vessel, then check who and when maintenance was done.
@@CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore agreed. Hopefully I can find someone like you who actually took pride in ownership. Again appreciate all your videos. The side humor is hilarious too!
I noticed from this video a couple things. How does your F150 do hauling it? Thats been a concern of mine from stepping into that size boat. Also, I noticed you towed it with the bimini still on. Have you had any problems with that?
@@brdarley So the F150 is a 2021 and has the 3.5L and is rated for 8,500 pounds of pull. It pulls it flawlessly and with ease. Also, I travel under a mile to the ramp through back streets keeping speed under the recommended 45 mph tow speed. The biggest challenge is not to clip the low hanging fruit in the neighborhood! Lol Thanks for the question!
At 9:48 the port side engine is running higher rpms than stbd side. I don't know if there are two throttles or one, but it seemed odd to me that they would be so out of whack.
Well ..did it guys ! ..shinicock bay Hamptons to Montauk lighthouse and beyond ! Ocean ride out/ bay inside back to dock ...what a ride ! What a day caught many fish ..even small shark ..the homes on the ocean side out on east Hampton are insane !!!

Congrats for the boat but you should be arrested for filming in portrait mode 😂😂😂😂

Considering the 252. How is the ride in chop? Is it pretty smooth or does it bang agains wakes? We have a family member with a bad back and he's not able to take a rough ride any longer.
Like any boat it can get rough, depends on the conditions. It is a much better ride than the 19ft. Yamaha however.
Ken do an after break in oil change ..and filters .. micro shavings
Yes, the 10 hour recommended service includes the full oil change.

I'm using a DJI Mini 2, Ive had others but the mini is so compact.

What top speed were you able to reach
I have same engines in 2020 212S
Mine is 45 loaded. 50 mph empty.
45 seems to be top, perhaps in time engines will loosen up and a few more can be squeezed out.

Not yet. The twins are versatile around the dock. I'm still learning how to use them since I came from a single engine.
The only real downside for Yamaha is the lack of customization. Specifically color options.
