    Invader coffee has some of the best coffee I’ve ever had! I love how the original invader blend is air roasted, preventing the beans from being too acidic or burnt, but my favorite coffee that they offer is the mexican chocolate. It is the smoothest best flavored coffee blend that I have ever had!! Another good blend that I’ve tried is the Whiskey blend which is my third favorite. No bitterness yet deep flavor, it is to die for!! Finally I love how the company is run by a vertern and how the website is super user friendly and delivery is fast and on time. I highly, highly, highly suggest you get yourself some invader coffee.

    If you put a drip of milk in the bottom of the glass before you pull the shot it will prevent darkening, giving you more time to assemble a drink. This is also why, when making a cappuccino or latte, the milk is streamed and added BEFORE the espresso.

    • @savorwithdmurph1113
      @savorwithdmurph1113  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you for the tip James! I like the idea of adding a drip of milk to the glass to keep it from darkening. I'll try that next time I make a latte. However, from my experience as a barista and many videos on TH-cam, the milk is added to the espresso, not vise versa. Where have you seen the milk added first?

    Should the porta filter or the handle in the UNLOCKED position be SUPER tight as you turn it to the LOCKED position ? The machine I have is made totally out of aluminum but is SO tight I have to hold unto the machine as I turn it counterclockwise

    • @savorwithdmurph1113
      @savorwithdmurph1113  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So holding the machine isn't unusual as these can be light. However if you have to put a ton of effort to get to unlocked that is unusual. Try less coffee if it's quite full. That can sometimes make it tight to lcok.

    • @savorwithdmurph1113

      To remove the guard, I held the top of the steam wand with one hand and twisted the steam guard in a circular direction while pulling down. It eventually wiggles off. Be careful though not to pull too hard on the steam wand itself.

      I used to do that when I worked at Starbucks but it left some of the flavor on the bottom of the cup. You do get a nice coffee forward, flavor if you pour instead of stir. When I'm looking for a more robust flavor I prefer the pour over stir.

    mmm i find that if i temp it to tightly packed it takes about 30 seconds to a minute before it actually starts having the coffee pour out of it. any suggestions on that?

    • @savorwithdmurph1113
      @savorwithdmurph1113  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With this machine there is only one thing you can do to decrease the time it takes to pour if your using a regular espresso grind. If your tamping it several times/tightly try doing it once or twice/gently. It's a bit of trial and error till you find the way that works best for you. I bought a brand of pre-ground espresso I really love called Illy and I had to tamp that once or twice compared to several times with Starbucks espresso roast. At first I did my normal tamping and the Illy espresso poured for over a minute!

      @@savorwithdmurph1113 yeah I've used Illy before and I do like their coffee. However, I grind my own at this point with a bodem grinder. This is a pressureized portafilter, it doesn't require much of a tamp. Hence that one little hole on the bottom. You're copying what people do on nonpressureized expresso machines. Follow directions, don't go too fine or pack too tight. Cheers.

      The espresso has to be ground to a certain fineness. Typically when you’re getting a 20 second pour it’ll be that Carmel color (2oz in 20 seconds). If it’s black it may not be the right size or amount. If you’re using fine grind and it’s less than 20 seconds you need a finer grind or add more coffee. I use Starbucks espresso roast. Getting the right shot is a bit of a testing process.

      If it is pouring black you may need to use finer grounds?
      This is a helpful article on what can cause your espresso to pour too black.

      +Droogoon That taste might be from the type of coffee you're using? What type is it?

      Starbucks espresso has a strong taste if you drink it black that may have a slightly meaty taste.. It was designed to be tasty when mixed rather than drinking straight. Do you drink yours black? If so, you may prefer a different espresso. Personally I love illy coffee for a black espresso.
      Interestingly, I read a blog in which someone coming off of a cold thought their coffee tasted meaty.
      Hope that helps!

    This model is unreliable. Started to leak after about five month. Pools of water on the counter. It seems to be a common problem according to reviews on the Amazon.

      I don’t have a leak but the steam that comes out the bottom front of the machine when the steamer is finished running does put a little water on the counter. Not a huge issue and for a 15 bar pump @ $75 USD I’ll deal with the drips.

      Nope I like to feel the weight and base it off of taste. A little unconventional.
