  • Thanks so much to Sony for sending me the DualSense Edge free to review! This is the first official 1st party Pro Controller option from Sony ever, built for the PS5! There's a lot of cool unique features it has to offer, though I can't help but feel there's a couple things it could have done even better...

Btw the Edge controller does not come with the same battery with the regular dual sense,it’s a 1050mah instead of the original 1560mah in the dualsense.

Smaller battery. Ya not sure what they were thinking. I’m on the fence right now as to what to buy. Edge is tempting because I can just go buy it at store, where with a few others like hex and Carbxn you have to wait and hope it’s up to par plus if stick drift happens you can’t swap out. And Hall effect upgrades usually end up more than 200 on a good pro controller

But in all seriousness it’s not marketed towards the average gamer. A regular controller will do just fine for the average gamer. It’s only worth the $200 if you’re going thru a controller a year or you like fine tuning your controls

This modularity and reparability (though a small part of the controller) is great to finally see from the actually maker of the console, Im glad many keyboards allow such flexibility to replace a singular problematic switch and I hope xbox and nintendo (and sony down the raod) get the message that controllers have a long way to go and getting stagnant will hurt sales. Now if only they could fit a bigger battery there.

I was holding back for this controller but last night got it for myself the other day. People had been saying about the battery but didn't find mine any issue at all I mean on the regular dualsense I am getting 8 hours of playtime before needing to charge. As for the edge I got the same amount of time before I charge the controller, the reason why I was holding myself in getting this controller before is I was hoping that sony will release different color for as they did with the regular dualsense. With that said I was happy with this controller and thinking I might mod it once the warranty has passed.

There's one gripe I've had with Sony for a long time. We've had custom button assignments on our controllers for years, but they've only ever given us one option per the entire system. You can't have numerous different custom button assignments. Now I understand that's because they were banking on making a system like this, so they could make more money off of people by getting this function exclusively through buying their pro controller

While it has some nice features and the system integration is great, the ridiculous size of the battery (1050mAh, compared to 1560mAh on the standard DualSense) and only two instead of four back buttons make the definition of a "pro" controller an absolute joke, especially at that price.
While the feature of swappable sticks is nice, you are basically paying premium for the right to replace, from which Sony will once again make money. It should have come with two extra stick modules at that price, or instead have used hall effect sticks. This is basically Sony acknowledging they are NOT using a superior/"pro" technology and wanting to get paid top dollar for it.
I was really looking forward to a first party pro controller from Sony, as the PS5 is my most used platform, but this offering does not justify its price in my opinion. Will wait for a second iteration, but seeing as how long is has taken for the first one to come out, that probably will not see the light of day until 2030...

I hope console games start to allow pro controller button integration... As the buttons being their own button instead of duplicates... For instance in overwatch I could use those back buttons for extra communication voice lines.. but to do this overwatch would need to be able to recognize the button as back button 1 or 2... I originally thought this was the purpose of pro controllers, and also the reason I purchased the PS4 back button accessory...

Pro controllers are essentially to jump and aim at the same time

240 euro is a tough pill to swallow...
I'll stick to the regular PS5 controller, plus longer battery life. Not that the DS5 last that much longer. But only 4 hours is a joke...
For the price you would think they've could have added a larger battery. Sony gimping their products as usual.

What's the little box you put the USB cable into before pugging it into the controller?

    • @HwL01
      @HwL01 ปีที่แล้ว

Included lock that prevents detachment of the cable, essentially making it a wired controller if you want to

The problem i have is 1 the price.. which goes beyond the purpose.. how realistically are you going trough 3/4 controllers in the console life? Because if you dont.. you safe nothing. And my second problem is, they cheated out on everything!.. and that’s something i don’t appreciate! Especially if you ask that amount of money. I find the elite 2 a perfect balance and actually feeling more premium then the normal xbox controller! It feel like a upgrade and the price is good! (Quality problems aside..) but if you have a good unit.. it really feels like a upgrade. Here i felt like they cheaped out! Not putting a decent battery in it.. cheap components.. and not really that much more quality then the regular controller.. no way to change the stick tension.. and all of that would be okisch.. if they didn’t ask such a absurd amount of money..

I'm sorry, but I have to complain. Does anybody remember stick drift on their old PS1, 2 or 3 controllers? I certainly don't. I strongly believe that Sony has placed some more planned obsolescence in ps4 and 5 controllers with the stick drift. The fact that they allow us to finally change the analog sticks is great, but they plan for us to be buying more things from them again.
I've heard from this channel there is a different controller manufacturer that is working on analog sticks that use magnets that shouldn't have stick drift overtime. Let's hope Sony incorporates that overtime.
