The way I fixed oil burning / consumption thick white smoke on Toyota RAV4 - changed spark plugs

  • My Toyota RAV4 2008 was burning 1 L engine oil per 1000 KM with terrible white smoke behind the tail. After the repair, the oil burning down to 1/4 L per 1000 km and no more white smoke.
    The most important step of the repair was asked a friend to push the vehicle move several meters without start up the engine, so that all the Sea Foam in the spark plug holes to be removed. Before move the vehicle, need to shift the gear knob to Reverse position, and then push vehicle backward 3 meters. And then shift the gear knob to Drive position, and push forward 3 meters. After that, start the vehicle and drive for 20 to 30 minutes to burn off the Sea Foam.
    We will see lots of white smoke coming out of the pipe tail for the first 10 minutes. That’s OK, because after that, the smoke being normal.
    That’s how I fixed the oil burning problem for less than $100.

    Just a following up. It really works on my vehicle. The mileage on my Rav4 is 250k km now, and no more oil consumption recently. It's probably because I used the Mobil 1 high mileage 5W30 on every engine oil change. Please thumbs up so more people could get the ideas from this video to fix their vehicles. Thank you!

      Your stuck oil rings must be not too bad. Good job! Have you thought regularly do engine flush like twice every year to keep the sludge and gunk away?

    I have a Scion tC 05 ,When I changed my spark plug I notice two of the spark plug were wet with oil, I removed my valve cover and realized my gasket is worn out. So I ended replacing the valve cover gaskets but I still have white smoke coming out of exhaust. I clean the oil out of the coil wells and I also clean the spark plug with the degreaser but the problem persists? And my check engine light is on 😑🙁…any suggestions?

    I'm going to try the ATS Chemical 505 CRO oil system treatment that is poured in the crankcase.
    Scotty Kilmer swears this product does help break up the carbon that builds on the rings causing Toyota's to burn oil such as in the 2AZ-FE.

      If you have oil on the plugs you need to change your valve cover gasket aswell as your plugs and wires. I just got a car and i guess oil is leaking into spark plugs causing it to smoke so im going to replace the valve cover gasket and hopefully it runs and idles better.

      Hi there, 1. Sea Foam Motor Treatment is a multi-functional formula that can be used in gas, ethanol, diesel or bio-diesel, oil, injector and carbon cleaning machines. 2. You can buy it at Canadian Tire, Amazon.com or other hardware stores.

      Don’t use sea foam. Sea foam is covering up a problem that you should just try and fix because seafoam is like putting a bandaid onto a stab wound.

    This guy don’t know what’s he’s talking about btw
    This is a engine mechanical failure from inside

    • @imgonnagogetthepapersgetth8347
      @imgonnagogetthepapersgetth8347 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not so fast Tellez.... there's lots of reading to be done. Dried, caked oil sludge around the rings can make them stick tight around the piston, then oil is not wiped down as it should be, and loss of compression from the upper rings sticking, also blow-by. Clean the rings, and if you're lucky, you can get it to be better than before.
