    Dealing with the same problem on our 94 Winnebago, although I've only just begun to rip out the rot and wet foam. Had some outer sidewall delamination as well. I used West System on the delamination and it's done well. So I'll probably use it on the inside framing like you did. It's a bit pricey, but it's used in the marine industry with great results. I also switched to 3M 4200 sealant for all of the seams on the sides/windows. Time will tell how well that holds up. Good job on your repair.

    First off, great job on the video! I'm in the same situation with our 2012 Coachmen Freelander. I did something similar and thought I had the leak fixed. However, after our last trip, I found it leaked again and the wood between the foam is bad. The thin wood below the foam is also bad. So I'm trying to weigh my options. I'm also, from East Tennessee and was wondering did you get any price checks for repairs before you decided to tackle it yourself?

    • @junktinker
      @junktinker 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No I did not get any prices for someone else doing the repair. I just did not trust anyone to do it right. I seams as if most dealers just want to make cash fast and not care about the customer. I did see a video on youtube where a guy took the and rebuilt the whole front section on the class C. I think it could be done for me I would need to find a garage to use for a week and take time off work so that might be a job I would pay to have done. If you could find a good wood worker he probably could do a better job for you. Good luck man.

    Can I ask why you didn't pull out the insulation to check for water pooling underneath it? I bet there was or still is some. Removing the insulation would also have allowed you to seal the wooden support struts better.

    • @junktinker
      @junktinker 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The foam insulation was glued to the bottom outer lay of wood which is very thin. So removal of it would not be impossible but very difficult. Plus the water damage and find out of it was fast. We did not see or find mold. All the sealing work is a per cation. The way I did it may not be everyones way. But it’s what I found worked best for my situation and skill level. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Could you tell me where the leak was? And how you fixed it before the repair.

    • @junktinker
      @junktinker 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They told us the leak was coming from an area just over our slide out which is just behind the driver seat but I also know I had them re-seal every opening on the roof to make sure honestly I’m not sure that they knew where the leak was coming from but for my inspection the only area that actually got soft and seem to have moisture coming from it was the very front corner that I point out in the video so it’s my belief that the leak was coming from the corner seen that wraps around the front of the bunk area on the outside. The repair was paid for by the previous owner as far as ceiling up the leak goes and was done by a local RV shop

    • @calebsmith7520
      @calebsmith7520 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@junktinker This was my exact question as well. I just bought the exact same used 2013 C-class Freelander and found the exact same water damage and soft spots in the exact same front left corner. I re-sealed all seams on the roof in this front area using 6" eternabond sealant tape. I hope I have stopped the leak. You video is excellent and I will be using this info to re-do the interior.
      My question is... aren't you concerned that the corner ceiling area with the water spots still have moisture and will cause mold issues? I ended up removing all that wood support in the very nose area that you treated and the cardboard/particle board stuff that was behind the wood was very wet so I ripped all that I could out down to the fiberglass shell. Now I am wondering if this wet particle board expands up to the ceiling where the water spot is and if I need to open that can of worms??

    • @beepbeepbella8139
      @beepbeepbella8139 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@calebsmith7520 So the dealer that fixed the leek end up resealing everything on the roof. Because after taking it back three times he agree if it leaked agin he would replace the whole roof at his expense. Once it was sealed I brought it home and put heaters, fans and dehumidifiers in it for a week. I believe one thing that helped me was the fact that we caught the leek the same day it started. hope this helped you out. good luck with your unit.

    • @beepbeepbella8139
      @beepbeepbella8139 ปีที่แล้ว

      Originally they though it was the front roof seal. They tried sealing twice and failed the last time they sealed the whole roof and that stoped the leak. With that said I have since found out that with the aztec walls what happens is the water leak in the roof will run to the side walls once there the water can not run down in the side walls so what it does is run along the top of the aztec wall until it gets to the front or back and then runs down one of those walls. I hope this helps you.
