Regarding soldering temps: the same principal applies to brazing copper pipes near temperature sensitive parts, valves, ect. You need the temp to limit the time you're heating the joint so the heat doesn't travel so far down the pipe.
I learned things today. RJ is a year younger than me. I need/want a RST FG-100. I totally agree with you about using a higher temp is better for the solder joint. Edit: Can you add a link to the FG-100. I don't trust many vendors on Aliexpress. I prefer to use the same vendor someone else has already used.
Your on the money! Bet you don’t kill parts or have bad solder joints either. Many newer players get lulled into too cold temps and fight with issues. I really like your new little toy. Like you, I think fnirsi’s newest items are looking good. For the price you can’t beat them. Keep up the good work on the channel, I never miss a video. If any of my viewers are not subscribed to uni-bytes channel you should he does a great job. RJ

Correct, same thing exactly. Thanks for the information.

Thanks my friend. I just placed the order.
I got one of those and it works pretty good I calibrate my irons every 3 month or when I change the tips
Thanks,
Yes I do the same, the different tips read slightly different. Glad I got it.

@@LynxElectronicsLab yeah it’s a good thing to have
@@LynxElectronicsLab you should look at the t12 ksger soldering stations their also great
I have a Hakko branded one of those. I don't use it often, but when you need it, you need it. I usually solder at 340 ℃ with 60/40 leaded solder.
