Amazing how off you guys are about what happened. I've been a fan for almost 17 years and Christian and Raymond dragged the band down into mud and pissed on it before they both got dragged the fuck out. I love those two more than anyone and Christian wrote some really, really good tunes on Archetype, no denying that! But you have to understand that Raymonds wife was managing the band HORRIBLY. At some point there was also rumours going on that the bands manager (Rays wife) got into a relationship with Christian or whatever that was. At that point, Burton couldn't take anymore and left the band. Burton I think started to take legal action against Christian and Raymond over the band name Fear Factory and at some point he was invited back in (when Ray and Christian had sorted their shit). Burtons demand was that the manager (Rays wife) left the band immediately which for some reason both Ray and Christian refused to agree with. Well, that is it. I think Burton settled the affair with Ray and Christian and basically reclaimed the band kicking both Ray and Christian out of it. Dino hopped back on after meeting up with Burton at some gig back in 2005. I think they're better off today as a band.
Obsolete has a wicked tone too. Christian's bass tone is probably the most awesomely distorted one I've ever heard. You need to hear it on "Soulwound"...its just...omg.
...and i know that the sales weren't so good as expected but they're the greatest Industrial metal band of all time! They have to remember it all time!!!

They are unbelievably awesome live. I got to see them during the "Hate War and Terror" tour when they came here to Vegas and was blown away. They are definitely a band you don't just see once in your life. Did they play anything from the new album The Industrialist?

"Digi was the first FF album i heard i loved a few tracks until i listened to Demanufacture, Obsolete and soul of a new machine they are far superior albums loved them all the way through". Same story, man. " hopefully one day Burton, Dino, Christian and Ray will bury the hatchet and bring a old school FF tour or album.." Highly doubt this would be. Burton's vocals is weak after the years, just look at the last live shows, he cannot sing + he left the band now.
That's one of the reasons that I've always admired what he did. He is truly a versatile guy. He also produced Mnemic's "Passenger" album, and "Under Reprisal" by Threat Signal :)
Threat Signal was good, but the first 2 Mnemic albums pushed the envelope when it came to production man. Those albums have some of the best eqs put to tape.
Yeah this is a strange vid. I mean they split up right after it. When you read band interviews from just after the split, they say that there already was a problem between Dino & Burton, and that they recorded their own parts separately on this record. And this could be right because even in this vid you don't see Burton & Dino in the same room...
As it was stated in the video there had been disagreements during the process which is probably why they broke up shortly after this. Sad really as this was always the best FF lineup in my opinion.
StickSh1ft Yep. I do like Digimortal very much, but to me I always find the song to be too short and maybe too engineered. Almost like each FF member came in, played a couple of riffs, and that's it. No wonder they say in the vid that 'it was the smoothest recording process' since Dino & Burton were never in the same room together. It's still too bad that they split up and even more strange that after the first reunion (without Dino) that they split up again and then Burton to reunite again with Dino minus the rest.
I remember being disappointed by it and preferring Archetype. As time went on, I do find myself singing random songs from Digimortal from time to time.
i thimk his guitar playing damn good. the song bite the hand dino could of never made that, that being said been a fan since 1993 so i like dino more. If anythg christans bass is weak,he never has ad lib,or added harmonys to riffs. He,s just a foundation player..
Because Dino wanted to push them in a more Nu-Metal direction. Roadrunner was doing that with just about every band signed to them at the time because with bands like KoRn and Limp Bizkit being HUGE at the time, it was becoming a real trend. Burt didn't like this idea and got into a few fights with Dino about it. The guys a great guitarist, but apparently he's got a huge ego at times and has a "my way or the highway" attitude lol.
Burton: Before I go off on all the comments and everything, I'd like to make an official statement first. First of all, I just want to cut through a lot of the confusion about one issue since it really will be part of every answer. I have not made a public statement about it; I'm not one to air dirty laundry, but I have been forced to correct certain misstatements by Raymond and Christian. The fact that I have not worked with Raymond and Christian for the past three years as FEAR FACTORY is for this one reason - it's that I did not want to be involved with their manager. Her name is Christy Priske and she happens to be Christian's wife. During the "Transgression" mixing session, her and Raymond started a love affair that lasted for a couple years. As [she was the] manager of FEAR FACTORY, this was completely unacceptable to me.

Though it would be great to have the classic lineup together, I think it's mostly their production that has suffered or not been present on everything after Digimortal. They were never the same after that. Something's been missing.
Sorry dude but i have to disagree, its actually the other way round, it was Dino planned and wanted to take the band in a heavier direction... all the Nu Metal stuff including B-Real being a guest on the album was Christian's idea who actually heavily contributed to this album as stated on this very video. The "My way or the highway" attitude was always attributed to Burton since he's the only one who never left.
