The Fear Factory in Architype and Transgression was neither before nor after these two masterpieces. They are like 2 parts of one whole. That composition, that message, that energy and that sound in these two albums ... just amazing!!! Thanks guys for this work! FF🏴🏴🏴

Burton calls Transgression a "failed experiment"...I pretty much agree. There was some good stuff, but a lot of it was a weird FF/pop blend. Archetype was good, but playing it safe with the classic FF template.

All 8 Fear Factory albums plus the new one in 2015 are all Masterpieces. Every song is near flawless. Transgression is as good as Obsolete or Mechanize. Fear Factory is the greatest band of all times. Music doesn't have to be heavy as balls to be epic. Echo of My Scream for one is beautiful just like the other 10+ slower Fear Factory tracks. Burton C. Bell is my favorite vocalist ever and everything he will continue to make is epic. The dude is a fucking genius that's in the greatest band period. When you have a voice like Burton C.Bell you don't need heavy shit every fucking time.

I love Christian's type of sound&composing more- it is more open, more airy, more breathing. Dino is a claustrophobic and toxic guy, which mirrors in his sound. It's a shame Christian couldn't proceed with Arkaea and disappeared in crappy side-projects. His place in something like this era captured on the video. He should've form the band called Archetype or Transgression to play this kind of music. And find the vocalist that sound similar to Burton, not that sick screamer in Arkaea.

Obsolete is still THE album that made Fear Factory what they are today. They lost a lot of what they were just by the sheer force and power they exerted touring for that album. Those shows were absolute intensity and power. They will always be one of the most unique acts in metal but to me, especially after losing the original line-up, they're a shell of what they once were.

There was a lot of drama, apparently, Raymond was sleeping with Christian's partner or something, also the band's manager. Raymond and Christian were able to make amends but Burton didn't accept the behaviour. When Dino and Burton reconciled Burton offered to Ray and Christian to get the band back together, so long as they get a new manager. Christian and Ray refused. Cue the lawsuits and where we are now. Big shame, I'd love nothing more for them all to reconcile but the ship has sailed, and Ray has retired from drumming.

Why was Byron Stroud never allowed to record bass tracks for any of the Fear Factory albums? He was in the band for 8 years while they recorded 3 different albums and was never allowed to put down any bass tracks at all. Even here, Raymond is talking about "the 3 of them", not including Byron as a member of the group. It's no wonder why the dude quit the band last year.

    • @lucifersam01

By the time Christian and Raymond were still part of FF, Byron was also in Strapping Young Lad band, and didn't have time to do the albums record (saw that in an interview). And when Dino came back, I just think it's because he didn't like him very well (even if gene hoglan, who was the drummer of Strapping Young Lad, was here). Dino may be a talented guitarist, with some good imagination to put some kickass riff and atmospher, he's still hard to work with and can be a real bitch (that's why Christian and Raymond left the band, followed later by Byron, and i suppose Gene for the same reasons).

I agree with your opinions about The Industrialist too, such a lifeless sounding record. Digimortal smokes The Industrialist, nowhere near as bad of a record as people make out. lol Not exactly sure...I can just say in 99 when my band recorded in a multi-million $$ studio it sounded so amazing in there, but every time I'd listen to mixes in various sound systems (from the cheapest/simplest to the most expensive/elaborate systems) nothing ever came close to how it sounded in the control room. Everything sounded thick & in your face but anything outside the studio the drums & some other stuff sounded way back in the mix...I call it a cold mix (Slipknot's self titled for example of the top of my head). Had every intention to put in more time to get it right & more importantly learn, but just ran out of $$ amongst other things. But never have figured out why that happens. I know acoustics have a huge role but other than that...still missing pieces to the puzzle

    • @gmanhirt8818
      @gmanhirt8818 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

the trick too mixing an album is you have to play it back through a stereo system. not studio monitors, it might sound stupid but it works. studio monitors sound different then music speakers in ur car or ur house. that's how I mix. its unconventional but the results are much better and your never get blindsided like this album. and why people in studios get offended by this practice I use makes me scratch my head since the average person who is goin to listen to ur recording is goin to either listen to it in their car or their home stereo. not huge studio monitors.

Firstly, I am a massive lifelong FF fan, so not trolling at all. I agree that Transgression was a HUGE let down when it came out. But it does have some great tunes. Try to imagine those tunes with a more ''Fear Factory'' sounding production. I also think Arkaea has some killer riffs, far better than the same old 1 note that Dino plays over and over on The Indsutrialist. Either way though, greatest FF era was and always with be 1995 - 2001, they were absolutely unstoppable back then.

Well, they are my favorite band. Been listening to them since 1994. Seen then live 6 times. Met them a few times. They recently did a tour where they played Demanufacture from start to finish. Why do you think they did that???? Do you think they did that because it is their worst album? lmfao.

Just convert them as Mp3 and then upload those tracks inside on your Itunes. Of course if you got the original CD instead of a copy or even a downloaded Mp3 files from anywhere .......

Well at least, this was their worst, but it's not so bad. I love every record that Fear Factory ever did at their whole career.

"Lol". You can't tell someone "This one is better, shut up and think like this."... Fear Factory has been (in my opinion) flawless from Soul Of A New Machine until now. There's no such thing as "best album", it's just your favorite

Dino regards Soul Of A New Machine as their heaviest album and you know what? I agree. It's sloppy but man is it heavy!!

Their old stuff is great, don't get me wrong. I for one just think that Transgression sounded better than what Mechanize and Industrialist turned out to be, I know the production on Trans was somewhat low-end, but imagine hearing Contagion or 540,000 Degrees if they did it properly.

There must be some kind of law that has to do with having a different opinion to everyone else. Chill the fuck out people, we all love Fear Factory, what difference does it make?

I read that Christian Olde Wolbers has disowned this album, and that Fear Factory at the time did not like their recording terms for this album. I can see where they're coming from, as I was alittle put off by this album the first time I heard it, but I still feel that this was MUCH heavier than The Industrialist. Not that it was a bad album, it just didnt feel like it had much of any soul to it. I actually prefer Digimortal to T.I.

Still puzzles me to this day why the low end is so farty here. Sounds distorted in a bad way. Sounds like this on the final studio release. Messed-up mastering maybe ?

Wolbers was just doing a Dino impression. It's not that hard to do, but the albums fell flat after a few songs because it's not the real thing.
