      Hi there, Andy.
      Hmm, I can't really say.. You will have to check the specifications for your Ocean 11 as well as the FS-7.
      The Ocean 11 probably require some form of either latch or unlatch (momentary or toggle).

    Does this boss fs7 tutorial also work for the Boss GT1 by setting up the fs7 to latching and momentary on the Boss gt 1, I was thinking of getting the laney latching

    • @GuitarNTabs
      @GuitarNTabs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there, John.
      In general the FS-7 should work for many Boss pedals and MFX - but you should always visit the Owner's Manual for the particular device, to fully clarify.
      I have no experience with the Laney FS2-MINI, so I can't really tell, but as long as it's a footswitch, I believe it will work...
      I still highly recommend the FS-7, it's small and compact, and great!

      Hey there!
      Sorry for the late reply..
      I haven't used any other footswitches than Boss, so I can't really tell... But, it should be possible, as long as the footswitch is capable of doing what is required by the GT-100.

  • @TonyHookedonVanlife

    I like momentary(or 'hold' might be a better name) for the feedbacker effect, so you can get feedback sounds like you are standing next to a loud amp stack... makes things seem abit more "live & raw". That's great for stuff like stoner rock, psychedelic, doom metal, etc. For other effects, the standard latching on-off configuration is good.
    Do you prefer the FS-7 over the FS-6? What would be the advantages/disadvantages of one over the other? Considering one to go with my GT-1 when I get it.

    • @GuitarNTabs
      @GuitarNTabs  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey there, man!
      Sorry for the late reply..
      I really prefer the FS-7 over the FS-6, that's for sure.
      The fact that the FS-7 has the option of being powered off a power supply is great! That way it won't suddenly die on you, when you're doing your gig.
      I also feel that the smaller footprint is much more versatile, especially for the kind of pedalboard I use :-)
      So the advantages for the FS-7 would be:
      - Can be powered off of a regular power supply.
      - Smaller and more versatile footprint.
      - Easy to set up and navigate through.
      I hope this helps!
      Let me know how it all goes!

    • @GuitarNTabs
      @GuitarNTabs  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there, Arthur.
      Thanks for your comment and question - I appreciate it.
      Well, you can use a regular jack cable, but it will only trigger one of the two footswitches... You can also used a "Y-Cable" to connect to the two inputs (A + B). That will trigger both footswitches.
      Or the third option, to use a TRS-jack cable, in the A&B input only :-) Which will also trigger both footswitches.
      Boss/Roland makes the Y-Cable, and I believe a TRS-jack as well, so check that out 😊
      I hope this makes sense. If not, then please let me know.

      Besides the two onboard footswitches - Accel/CTL & Phrase Loop - you can only add one FS-7 or FS-6 to that.
      The GT-100 only features 1 dedicated footswitch input on the back - called SUB CTL 1,2 - so all together you'll have the two onboard ones and two other ones, from the connected FS-7 or FS-6.

    The problem with switching patches (the light might now be out of sync) is significant. The LED will stay lit. The switch led is an indication of the fs7 switch being pressed, not the state of the selected effect. Likewise if you switch to a patch and the effect is already on by default, the LED will not light to tell you the state.
    Boss really took a shortcut here. I don’t see any way to monitor for patch change, even with a small circuit to watch internally- there’s nothing distinctive that happens to indicate a patch change just occurred.
    It might be possible to monitor for patch change through MIDI but I don’t think it would know the switch state. Very shabby work by Boss.

    Hello once again. Here's a thing. If you set the FS-7 to latch and the effects in the GT1 to momentary it works as you suggest until you switch patches. I find then I have to press the pedal on the FS-7 twice before it functions correctly. For example, if the light is on on the FS-7 when you switch patches it remains on unlike the ctrl1.
    For this reason I have reset the FS-1 to momentary and the GT-1 to toggle. Admittedly the light on the FS7 only comes on then when your foot is on the pedal but I can see of the GT1 the effect is turned on
    Hope this makes sense

      @@GuitarNTabs Hi guys! I have the same observation with GT-100 + FS-7... if I switch on an effect (for example Chorus) with the FS-7 / B, then the green light will be ON - and will stay ON, regardless if I change the patch to a different one, where Chorus is once again OFF - so it makes confusing to see if it really ON or OFF. My conclusion is that FS-7 only SENDS control signals, but does not receive any feedback, it is not in sync with the GT-100.
      Meanwhile I have another issue, when I use a stereo cable from A&B socket, and I configure the GT-100 to use CTL1 for chorus (or whatever), CTL2 for reverb (or whatever), FS-7 controls only the B (CTL1) pedal, the other is not working (the red light turns on and off, but the GT-100 does not react...).
      Any idea? Thanks!

      @@gyorfig - Hi there.
      Regarding your issue, did you make sure that the second assign is assigned and turned ON? Or does the issue still occur?
      Cheers.

      I have the same problem (FS-6 and GT100). Switching Patches and you have to tap twice on the FS-6 to get the LED in synch with the function/sound you hear. Is there another solution yet or work around?

      Hi there, Aaron.
      I don't have the ME-50 but I had a look in the Owner's Manual, and on Page 22 it says that you can switch Banks, using an external footswitch.
      The FS-7 will work with the ME-50, no problem, just make sure to set it up to match the ME-50's settings, and get the proper cable.
      I hope this helps.
      Cheers.
