The OG M2 was the original mad scientist project car, out of the M division. Folks don't know this but the N55 in that model was a track spec engine with higher boost and a trick oiling system. The exhaust is what everybody remembers though.
@@jim8462 The Original M2 was meant to slot beneath the M3/M4 as they had become too pricey and had become GT cars. To keep the costs under control they spiffed the N55 with steel cylinder liners, S55 crank bearings, S55 rings, trick oiling system and stage one boost. M guys were not looking for ultimate power. The wanted a motor that could track all day. They also yanked the mDCT from the M5. The most insane thing was to pull the suspension from the M4! Of course the M2 body had to be widened and wheel flares added because of that suspension choice. So the OG M2 has a unique appearance.
Yeup and the forged internals from the s55 to the n55b 30To is the actually engine. Cost wasn’t a factor for me last month when I drove both the comp and og lci back to back and I left with the 6 spd manual 2018 m2 lci with all options and carbon. I’m not a fan of the s55 sound even with very expensive exhausts with equal length pipes….not to mention if modding I would no doubt have to do the crank hub which is a 3-5k job just for that to really mod the car. If I got an m2 with s55 it would be the m2cs and I’d leave it the way it is. But since I wanted to mod I preferred the n55. Any trim of the f87 is an absolute win.
Glad you’re ok. I sold my OG M2 a few months ago and bought a M140. To be honest the m140 is a better daily, I found my m2 way too firm for everyday use and road noise was horrendous. The m140 actually feels a little quicker but no where near as stable at speed. I think my next car will be a supra
I’m an M2 OG owner, had a chance to go for a comp in my ideal spec but didn’t because of the sound, not sure if I regret it now, but yeh sounds is massive factor
Mate you should of gone for the one that had the crank hub done and tune that’s not the cheapest of jobs and Lichfield is obviously a good company so all would of been fine.
Great to see you back, brilliant video, I've still got my og m2 and still loving it, glad to know you were OK after the accident, keep pushing the videos, there really enjoyable.
Good video and we share very similar views on the two. Love my manual OG LCI. ticks every box except the shite seats I’ll change. But I bought it nearer £33k with 17k miles 1 year ago. Now look at them🙉
Great Video mate! Sold my m140 recently and miss it like crazy! I know the m2 must be a step up again but the value for money with the m140 is probably bargain of the century! Love the m2 comp sir!
Good to see you back mate, that crash sounded nasty but glad you’re okay. Loving the M2 Comp, I think it’s my favourite. I’m just back in a rwd V8, loving it!

I never actually knew that!!
You seem to have some knowledge do you know the reason why Bmw used the n55 instead on the b58 Iv always wanted to know as it’s a better engine.

Thank you buddy! Really appreciate it

Thanks buddy! The m140’s are brilliant cars and I stand by that. I’d say they are quicker than an OG m2 in a straight line

I totally agree. Both have their pros and cons
Well the comp is the better car overall and the sound can always be fixed aftermarket
@@sonneyanthony6926 yes but only illegally with a gpf delete with an equal length mid pipe
@@sonneyanthony6926 no it's not and no it can't.
@@sutorcsI agree with that very much.
what safety measures have you taken against theft? I'm picking one up in a week or so and just wondering, as I'm worried about keyless entry
mate, webuyanycar always price up to tempt you in and then point out reasons why they can't offer you close to what they quoted
I traded my 981 Cayman S for an OG M2 and couldn't be happier 😁
They are great cars aren’t they
@@realtorque oh absolutely, it's such a great everyday car with all of that torque and go kart feel!

Thank you buddy and I’m glad you’re still enjoying yours! Videos are back on track now, we’ll that’s the plan
Equal length midpipe and vrsf downpipe transforms the sound of these, any other exhaust system just seems to make it a louder bad sound 👍🏻
I think that's a good shout!
Very happy with my M2c but they're both great cars, no wrong choice possible.
I couldn’t agree more! Both great cars

They are dude!! Thanks so much and yours 👊🏻👌🏻
You wouldn’t get anymore than 33k for it now
Noted that prices of the OG M2 have dropped big time recently. You can get a BMW approved OG M2 for 33-35k now!

Its an easy one. But m2c and do the exhaust 🤷
Having at least one hand on the wheel is a great start to avoid another accident however, I did enjoy the vid and now subscribed 🕺🏼👍
