Shout out to you guys! I planned to propose to my girlfriend but had a 30 minute drive to the location. I didn't want the drive to be awkward since I was nervous and it was quiet so I played Nateland in the background. We made it to the location at sunset, dropped to a knee and she said yes! Thank for helping calm my nerves guys!

Best parenting advice: Money will come and go, but they’re only little once. No matter what you do, you will regret not making enough time and not enjoying all their stages thoroughly enough, but do all you can to make those regrets as few as possible. My oldest daughter just turned 13 and it’s hard not to wonder where the time went and feel like you didn’t enjoy the little moments enough. So enjoy them.

I am a farmer and rancher in Nebraska and really appreciated the shout-out to farming. Listening to you all try and talk about farming made me understand what it must be like for somebody trying to be funny to a stand up comedian (aside from Dusty, he had a pretty decent handle on it). Without sounding creepy. I've spent 2 hours a week with you guys, through the podcast, for the past two years, so now it feels like I'm part of your world in a weird way. I wasn't upset about the change to 1 hour format, because it's obvious how wild life is for Nate and the rest of you, but I was going to miss the extra time. Aaron said you dont get into farming for the money, you do it because you love it. Im a farmer, we raise cattle, sheep, and chickens. We love it, but we're definitely in it for the money. The flexible schedule and being your own boss are just added benefits. It really is like comedy, if you love it, you'll do it well and be successful. Dustys ted talk on feeding hay was spot on. If he fed a bale of hay today, it certainly wouldn't be his first rodeo.

Years ago while going to Publix, my wife and I saw a Girl Scout selling cookies out in front. She was yelling “Girl Scout cookies! 1 for $5, or 4 for $20!” She was SLINGING it out there, selling 4 boxes at a time as if it were the only option. She basically ran out of stock by the time we were done grocery shopping due to her hilarious/genius little “deal” she was running.

Nate's perspective wanting his act to be seamless and cohesive, crafting it as an art form and wanting it to be "a movie" kind of experience really reminds me of Mike Birbiglia, my other favorite comedian. I absolutely love the way Mike has a dominant narrative in all his specials that branches off into a hundred stories without you even realizing it. The Tennessee Kid and My Girlfriend's Boyfriend are the only two comedy specials I've watched more than once as I continually show other people.

Bates-“ how much steak you think you could you eat in one sitting?” Aaron- “I mean, two pounds, is that a lot?” Nate- “So say ounces, so be regular”😂 Man, 96oz of beef is quite a bit. A Big Mac is made with two 1.6oz patties or 3.2oz of beef. You’d be eating the equivalent of meat in 30 Big Macs, or 24 quarter pounders ( 4oz of meat in a quarter pounder) I have a feeling this math will make more sense to Nate😂

Just like Bates, we worked tobacco growing up. My granddad had a tobacco allotment on a small farm in Southwest Virginia just about 50 miles north of the Tennessee state line. I got nicotine poisoning one summer carrying the tobacco in from the fields to the barn. My great grandparents were sharecroppers on that farm and my great grandfather couldn't read or write. I'm now working on my dissertation for a doctorate in Business Administration from Liberty University. Farming has been a huge part of our family's history.

Unrelated to today’s episode, but last week I stopped at a Starbucks to get drinks for myself and my coworker. He asked for a Cafe mocha with cream. Sure enough, when the barista called out my drink order she yelled “cafe mocha whipped cream!”. Regarding naming farm animals, I spent a year or so as a kid living on a small farm owned by my aunt and uncle. They had 2 steers - a red one and a black one. My cousin called them Axl and Slash, which we all thought was perfect. My aunt over-ruled and said "No, they're called Red and Black." She wasn't the most colourful person so we put it down to her simply being the fun-police. As we got older we realised why - they were dinner, not pets. Turns out my mum, aunt and their 4 other siblings named a steer "Curly" when they were kids, and when our grandfather had him slaughtered none of them could bring themselves to eat him. They sat there looking at their plates almost crying while my grandfather had steam coming out of his ears cos they were wasting food.

Aaron’s friend who liked cow tipping was likely only calf tipping. A full grown cow will weigh around 1200-1600 lbs depending on breed. I have been a dairy farmer my whole life and have never seen someone tip a full grown cow without the aid of machinery. Figured I’d give some context that the guy was going out to a farm and pushing over calves

Random comment in connection with this podcast… I often rewatch y’all’s specials. Mostly Nate’s because he started me on his path of discoveries and/or promotions. Anyway…
I’m rewatching Nate’s, “Hello World”, on Prime. I think about this every time I watch it… I was born in ‘71, in Jacksonville, FL. We lived just north in a small town called, Fernandina Beach (fancy folk know it as, Amelia Island). I was about four or five years old. We visited with our kin every Sunday. My great Aunt Shirley and my Uncle Tommy told me they had a cat that just had kittens. What five year old child doesn’t want to see kittens?! I went out to the backyard, the grass seemed a little high to me, but at the time, what does a five year old know? I’m calling for their cat that just had kittens, thinking she will emerge from the tall grass, with her kittens. I’m focused. I keep calling. I’m looking all around. Silence. I’m not giving up, dang it! I call again… I look around… right in front of me, I see a tiny kitten, bounding over the tall grass, towards me. My five year old self cannot contain my joy!! The little kitten gets a step and a bend down, towards me. I’m SO excited that I’m about to pet, maybe hold, this kitten! Two seconds before I touch the top of this little kitty’s head…. a giant eagle swoops down and snatches it up in it’s talons. Woooosh. Off it goes. This single event has caused me great anxiety throughout my life. 🤯 My family was sitting on the patio, behind me, as I did this. Encouraging me to not give up calling for the kittehs. I wish I could remember what explanations they had to impart after I coaxed a kitten out of hiding to it’s death. The cats clearly understood the situation and their chances of survival. Except for that one…

I agree with Dusty about the healthier options being lower quality. I noticed that when a big name (with a far reach in the market) in cleaning products made a "natural" alternative cleaner, it was terrible. But smaller, lesser known brands (with a much shorter reach) can do cleaning products that are good. That experience made me wonder if that was on purpose to steer people to the toxic products.

I have a buddy who competes in body building competitions (spray tans and all). Weeks leading up to the competition he has a strict diet in his "cut phase." But almost immediately after the competition, and for a few weeks after, he goes around to restaurants and takes on their eating challenges like the old 96er. He's done sushi, grilled cheese and sub sandwiches, burgers and fries, and cake. But the most impressive was the night after a competition he did the 8LB Kitchen Sink Challenge at the San Francisco Creamery. In under 30 minutes he at 8 pounds of ice cream, complete with whipped cream and cherries. He said the hardest part was how cold he got internally. I know you guys have talked about this before, but after seeing Aaron and Dusty take on the Nashville Hot Chicken gauntlet, would love to see you guys do more stuff like that. Would Nate ever go on Hot Ones?

I used to live in rural Tennessee and we had hay farms all around us. We had a dry spell a couple years and they had to fertilize all the fields to be sure there was enough hay to cut the in the fall. One of those years they used human feces and our whole area smelled like a port-a-potty for about 3 weeks.

I used to work for a company in central Washington State that would export hay to Korea, Japan, and China. This was not what I was trained in... Drivers delivering hay to our site would get irritated when I asked what kind of hay they had (we mostly received Timothy and Alfalfa hay) because apparently I should be able to tell by looking at it....I couldn't - I had to label it by type, which cutting it was (1st, 2nd, or 3rd of the season), and which farm it came from. We would send in samples to get tested so customers could identify what levels of different nutrients they had for their cows. People got really serious about their hay. It's a pretty cut throat industry. So Aaron, I have more answers to your hay questions than I ever wanted to have😂

I collapsed and smashed my face on the ground.
It's confirmed ... Nateland and anything healthy don't mix

Aaron was talking about pufferies in advertisements, my favorite is always the commercials that brag about having "more flavor" than the other brand. Could be a bad flavor, but we've definitely got more of it.

BIG time Nateland fan, Nate I saw you in Greenville, South Carolina and you rocked. One question for everyone, am I the only one that notices Brian’s reactions to Nate picking on him during the podcast? Looks like he’s the younger brother getting made fun of but can’t do anything. Love the podcast. Peace.

I believe that medication has made our life span shorter. The older generation used more herbs, plants, and foods to heal their bodies. My Great grandfather used buttermilk to heal his digestive system, he never used antacid, Pepto, etc. He used leaves from a Japanese maple and aloe for skin care. Sassafras leaves for boils, acne, etc. There's a ton of stuff he used. He had skin cancer from farming in the sun for so many years, but lived to 100. Good times!

I worked on a mint farm in the summers my first years of teaching. The planting system was similar to what Brian described. I farming as a change of pace from teaching because your work was done at the end of the day and although it was physically exhausting, it wasn't usually emotionally exhausting.
    I'll go proofread this now.

Hello folks! The FFA was a place where those kids that maybe weren’t that athletic could find “their place”. It’s so much more than farming, it’s learning a skill like, welding, plumbing, electrical etc. that will propel these kids into a good trade school that will set them up for life with little to no debt. It gives these kids a sense of pride in a skill they have learned.
Love the podcast, maybe give Aaron some chocolate, he seemed a little irritable today.

As a self proclaimed doughnut connoisseur, I’m disappointed none of you knew what an old fashion doughnut was! I even told my husband this was the first time I’ve been so worked up I felt the need to leave a comment! An old fashion doughnut is a circular cake doughnut with the cracked edges and is a staple in most shops. Also, loved the sidecar shoutout! It’s the best doughnut in LA!
Looking forward to seeing Nate and Aaron as part of the Netflix is a Joke festival!

It’s probably shocking to you guys but Florida is one of the largest cattle states in the US. We have some weird slaughter laws so we are cow-calf producers and most cows that are born in Florida are slaughtered in the Midwest. Trust me, we have a lot of cows here.

We would visit my grandfathers farm and I picked out a pig and I loved that pig! Every visit I would play with him and he was so sweet! I had no concept of what he had the pigs for and at a family reunion there was my pig, hanging by its feet…I think you know the rest! I was devastated and I’m pretty sure no one cared. lol.
