I don't know if anyone on SNL staff read these comments, but IF YOU DO I want to say BEST SHOW in literally DECADES!!! And yes, I'm old (in case you hadn't figured that out from the ALL CAPS I tend to use). I've been watching since the very first show in 1975. I was a senior in high school, and my group of 5-6 core friends watched it EVERY Sat. night at one of the friends' parents' houses. My curfew was 1:00 am, and it took me 15 mins. to drive home when it was over. My mom would be waiting up to tell me I was GROUNDED. EVERY SINGLE Saturday night!! I kept telling her the show didn't end 'til 1 but she wouldn't budge ("1 o'clock is 1 O'CLOCK!!!). We really battled over that. My dad didn't really care and tried to stay out of it ("if your mother says be home by 1:00 am, TRY to be home by 1:00 am, but I understand you're wanting to watch the show 'til the end, and it only bothers ME if I get woken up!"). Anyway, I lost my mom about 5 months ago (just shy of her 91st birthday!) and my dad, 2 yrs ago (age 93!). I was their caregiver, right up to the very end. A few years ago I asked my mom if she remembered our weekly battle over SNL, and my being 15 mins. past curfew every week~ she chuckled once, and then said, deadpan; "I think I was perimenopausal". LMAO. I think she would have loved this episode with Nate Bargatze. Foo Fighters, maybe not so much. THANK YOU, SNL for (finally!) an episode as good as your first few seasons. Me too.
This was definitely one of the funniest monologues on SNL ever! Good job Nate!
I've not watched SNL in years! Heard he was hosting & just had to watch! Such a fun night! 😂
Absolutely love this man. His style is so great, his delivery so real. Can, have and will watch his material on repeat!! What a great way to start my Sunday morning. Almost 10 minutes of laughter. Thanks Nate!
Nate has a very David spade style humor. Story teller with lots of editorializing and under the breath kind of commentary that’s so funny. They both admire each other. What a great monologue.
Yep discovered him via Fly on the Wall (Spade & Carvey) great episode!!
I've only seen David Spade live once but it was the worst comedy show I've ever seen. It was truly awful. His opener was Brian Regan and he was absolutely hilarious.
Enh David Spade is a narcissist and Nate is a self deprecator
David spade can’t compare to nate!
@@theinternets7516I'm so jealous that you got to see Brian Regan live. The number of times I listened to "Brian Regan Live" when I was in middle and high school was... many times lol Left me in tears every time.
G-rated humor, and I laughed his whole set. That’s a rare find.
Yes, you can watch his comedy w your kids, parents and grandparents without having to be uncomfortable. Love him .
@@wuguay5526 Him and Jim Gaffigan; equally funny, equally genius in my book.
@@brianhodgman3542yep! My 2 favorites!
I just found this on my recorded SNLs, and was just dying, over and over, during his monologue!!! I would LOVE to see him live!
Love him...REAL TALENT and a humble heart.
His clean, pure- hysterical comedy is worthy of his fame...so happy for him!!🙂
“It doesn’t let up…
Let me get my head above water for two seconds” 📚 😂
That was absolutely great the way he said that! Love this guy
Funniest description of a book - and I say that as a reader.
It's just so many words! and...it doesn't let up!
Is this your card?
The donkey high dive bit is hilarious from start to finish 😂
I am a new fan of this guy. Caught on with the George Washington skit. Clean humor is so much more difficult but I really appreciate being able to watch this guy with my kids.
Listen to "Part Time Magic". Old album, very good.
Acting so clueless is hard to do, too
Nate is just the best, his comedy is great for everyone and he’s so talented, I wished that monologue were 5 times longer just laugh more.
I am so tickled that he hosted!! Such a great guy!!
A clean comic. Making his mark. Just an awesome talent. Absolutely love this guy.
Seinfeld was a clean comic.... this guy is now Seinfeld
I agree it's great to get some clean comedy
Josh Johnson also works relatively clean
“Reading is the key to smart.”
Padding a book with blank pages is awesome.
I want that on a t-shirt.
i like the follow up line taking credit "that's what i've always said"
I don't know if anyone on SNL staff read these comments, but IF YOU DO I want to say BEST SHOW in literally DECADES!!! It was worthy of being grounded for 😍
And what a dilemma we faced every Saturday night pre-VCR days: go out and party or watch Mary Tyler Moore, Bob Newhart, Carol Burnett, and SNL?
Hi! I'm old, too! I watched SNL its first season when I was babysitting. It's cool being old. It's cool when you KNOW sh*t from shinola. Just kinda makes life easier. God bless.

Totally get it! Golden years of SNL… rushing home after party to an “after” party watching SNL ! Not the same today. This guy was perfect!
I'm so thrilled for him! He's so funny and so deserves it! Every special he's done has been hilarious!
Is this an AI comment? Surely this standup wasn't remotely funny.
@@jackdaniels5134and you are here reading all these comments and keep commenting on this. Can’t stand it that many of us enjoy Nate? The world doesn’t revolve around you. Keep crying. Or maybe you’re the AI you accuse others to be.
hahahaha, ok pal.@@wuguay5526
Never heard or ever seen this guy in anything and he’s legitimately refreshing and polished. Bravo.
LOOK HIM UP! His Specials Are Fantastic!!!
This was solid, but it's not really a good example of how hilarious his specials are.
He has a few specials out, all hilarious. Clean comedy.
He’s not bad!!!
Netflix. He's great!
This is top notch comedy. He's argualbly up there with the greatest.
I always love when standup comedians host SNL, because their monologues are hilarious, and Nate is clearly no exception, I see. 🤣
Nate is the best comedian out there right now. So nice to laugh at funny without having a barrage of f-bombs to fight your way through. Anyone can throw f-bombs every other word but it takes brains to write comedy like this.
My thoughts exactly! His delivery is stellar!!
Funniest SNL in years… Nate’s the best. I respect his humor. Not a cuss word, no politics, no sex talk. The sign of a truly funny person.
❤love the descriprion on of rhe Wilson😊😊😂🎉 counry fair!😂
Love that SNL is showing love to more wholesome entertainers. Actually watchable & thoroughly enjoyable!
I have been pushing this guy on my friends for years - he cracks me up! So happy to see he's made it!❤
Nate KILLED it! Another stepping stone to success. Epic skit that he wrote.
Nate's delivery is the essence of his comedy. The timing and expression are spot on!
I have never seen him before and just laughing my ass off. Wonderful talent
One of the best comedians out there, and I love that he is clean and family friendly.
❤ THIS!!❤
You can tell he was nervous at first but he got stronger the further he went. Good solid clean comedy. One of the best comics alive right now.
It did take him a beat to hit his stride, then it was smooth sailing. I can't even imagine the nerves of being on SNL for the first time. He hit it outta the park though! He is so funny!
It’s part of his act. Watch his older stuff, same delivery style. Genius!
Cosby worked clean as well and got on other comics who didn't. Miss that guy's stand up.
@@tonydiego5827 I've watched him a lot for a while. I know he's got a dry sense of humor, but I've also watched him enough to know he had some nerves working.
@@playedout148 Cosby sucks and has no right getting on anyone. He was very inauthentic.
NATE!!! You have come so far!! Incredibly proud of you and so happy to see you taking center stage! Well deserved!!
One of the best SNL monologues Ive ever seen. This was super high quality
The best part about watching someone kill a monologue, is catching the in-house band in the background chuckling the whole time
I love Nate. His delivery. His material. First rate. One of the best working today
Loved him the first time I saw him. Years ago. He can be funny without being crude. Very refreshing.
Saw him live and i keep watching his bits over and over. A storyteller comedian
Saw him live earlier this year and my face hurt from laughing so much. This monologue was great, as was the whole episode. Hoping we get more of Nate!
Truly one of the best SNL monologues ever. A perfect tight ten that gives fans some new material to love, and for folks who’ve never seen him it gives a great sense of who he is and what to expect from the episode. So so good!
No idea who he is ... and this is how you make a FANTASTIC first impression to international audiences who probably don't know you .. Finally someone who's not scrambling on snl
I saw this the next day after the broadcast. Just now seeing it again and laughed just as hard. Possibly the funniest monologue in the history of SNL.
