All 'renewables' have to be backed up by an equal amount of coal, oil, gas, and nuclear power.
If renewables are so great, why do we need to have 100% backup capacity? We can't store the energy. It's impossible, currently, to store even 0.1% of the total energy needed.

Oil isn't just used for petrol /aviation fuel / heating fuel. By-products from refining oil are used in miriad ways, as in cosmetics, medicines, plastics, industrial processes and hundreds of other applications. We can't economically just stop oil extraction. No-one talks about this, why?

Tbh it was cia and western backed jihadis that screwed Syria. Assad is legitimate. Also , it has not fallen, despite USA occupying a third of it to steal the oil , and Israel bombing it regularly.
Syria is in this situation because it didnt allow the USA to put a fuel pipeline through its country to try and swap Europe of Russian oil and gas. Syria is in an alliance with Russia so didnt think it was in there or there allies interest and then the USA destabilised the whole country.
Syria collapsed because the USA/UAE funded, armed and trained ISIS and the FSA to attack it because they refused the pipeline they wanted to build through it in 2009. The stop oil guy is utterly clueless. USA is using some of the same ISIS fighters to fight for them in Ukraine as well...

This guy literally doesn't know how the grid works. His shocked face when Mogg said 'tidal only supplies power twice a day' said it all.
We don't just store the excess electricity in batteries and pump it out later. We literally meet the demand by juggling a number of sources. This is why renewables are a good way to supplement a grid but cannot be the primary delivery system. If you're a climate activist and you're not talking about nuclear your opinion is simply invalid.
Plan should be to invest in nuclear now. Use oil/gas as a stopgap, and then switch when the factories are complete.
Of course that's difficult, when there is no money in the budget and the country is in deep debt..

Sigh ... each day, coastal areas experience two high tides and two low tides. These tides contain a lot of energy. As a result, huge amounts of water move in and out of river mouths each day because of the tides. The water is constantly moving (kinetic energy).

The problem isn't necessarily the tides, it's the same problem as most renewables - matching up the production with WHEN we need the energy. The issue is batteries. If you don't need the energy when the tide/wind/sun is giving it to you, it's lost. And if it's not when you need it then you're screwed.

And the best water turbines placed on the sea floor are not only the highest energy return, they are both movable, the longest lasting from 80-100 years, they also require the least maintenance as well. But those units cost an average of 384 thousand dollars each. That is without cable management and costs. Could that be a national project certainly. It would lower the costs. But junky china panels are cheaper. Wind turbines are slightly longer term, but far more failure prone. You cant get this kind of information to sink into a govt group whose real goal is to make money for themselves in the first place, so facts sadly have no place in their reality. And kids simply dont have the worldly or self awareness to deal with facts over "lied about" stories of good and bad, right and wrong.
