Naive inexperienced people always think they know the answers and always assign bad intentions to everything gone before them being born , because were always rediscovering the world around us , the young and naive seem to see it in a very one dimensional way . They seem unable to conceive of how and why we are where we are now , with massive health benefits , life expectancy extended , greater wealth , security and education for millions who otherwise would be poverty stricken , confined to their small world , starving, illiterate and dead before they reached 35 . They can’t conceive of people acting for the good of all , cannot understand context , only negative motives for every one of the world problems . Her words here are always hysterical hyperbole , the language of slanderous extremes that reasonable people just cannot debate seriously .possibly because question her and her peers further on anything they claim and they immediately switch to another topic . They can’t debate further because like a 14 year old they’ve only thought to use the sensational language of effect and no substance , expecting listeners to be wowed by the power of their slogans . When questioned further they resort to insult and breathless exaggerations their voices getting higher and higher all the time as they panic ! We’ve seen it in every single interview with whichever spokesperson they put on tv, a hysterical , neurotic slogan shouter who disintegrates in seconds when asked a simple logical question , just like a 14 year old caught out by teacher or parents . The shocking thing is many of these activists interviewed are retired people one hopes would be able to string a sentence together without an attack of hysteria , sadly not it seems . I've done all the above, fed a family, paid a mortgage, paid off a mortgage, nursed the sick and dying, taught for 36 years. Retrofitted, renovated Edwardian house - now a lovely warm home ( one of locally open-homed Greener Homes) with solar PV, solar thermal, air source heat pump, EV charger for visitors, tricycle to take cats to the vets, bus pass, wildlife friendly garden, resources constraint -including water-and Tesla battery storage. 100 Gigafactories could transition us all away from deadly extinction fuels, sadly and corruptly mis-sold to humanity for 50 years. Renewables are now cheaper than gas and nuclear. Storage of clean energy is also possible using industrial batteries and we have interconnecters from other countries to help. Environmental ignorance and the lies of the CFC industry nearly led to the loss of our ozone layer (hence Montreal Protocol 1987). Luckily the British Antarctic Survey drew attention to the ozone holes which are still recovering! And it's thanks to Greenpeace stopping the cruelty of industrial whaling we still have oxygen in our oceans. There's a symbiotic relationship between whale excreta, krill and the phytoplankton that makes up to 70% of Earth's oxygen. Nothing like a nice bit of fresh air for the lungs! Unless we all get a grip and restore Earth's dying ecosystems we'll be just as toasted as the victims of previous mass extinctions. We deserve a Public Information Programme of Environmental Literacy which could have been delivered by Sir Patrick Vallance and Sir Chris Whitty at the same time as covid. Late though it is and carbon now at dangerous historic levels please ask your representatives for such a programme and to take seriously the well-being of everyone and everything you love and value. We should not be backing anachronistic Broadmoor policies of overconsumption or reliance on dirty energies, now gas-chambering our only home. We can all help and do our best to hang on to a habitable planet, before triggering disastrous global tipping points from which there is no return. I don't know about you but I like having shoes on my feet and a nice bit of lunch. Resource wars, starvation and mass migrations lie ahead unless we plan properly, helping each other to decarbonise at speed and scale, restoring the crippled natural world. I am 91 years old and have been listening to people like her most of that time. At the age of 5 and over I was told to cut out 1 slice of bread per day so that a child in Africa could eat. They are still starving according to various charities. Is the world, but essentially the UK, going to grind to a stop because of people like her? As a politician I think Jacob is a bit out of touch, to be fair. But as an interviewer he's actually terrific. No name calling, no gotchas. Just trying to have a proper engagement with someone having different views. I think even she would appreciate how Jacob handled this.

Just a thought but maybe they should have invited an actual climate scientist on? See this is the problem I have with GB News and their climate coverage, they invite these fringe, activist kids on who are operating largely on emotion and these more media savvy presenters expose the gaps in their knowledge to enforce their narrative that, "see, it's all green loonies who don't know what they're talking about".
I don't mind a good debate but it's not as if there are no climate scientists or green energy specialists who couldn't adequately answer Mogg's questions. The solution to the wind not blowing or the sun not shining is a more expansive, pan-European green grid along with storage (battery, tidal, gravity etc.) and the use of SMR's (small modular reactors). Believe it or not, we will soon have solar panels which can generate power at night, using a process called radiative cooling. So there are answers to these questions but you do need to speak to somebody familiar with the industry to properly address them.
Of course it's a lot easier to shake the curtains and talk about how the WHO is going to put us all in hobbit homes and make us eat bugs for tea.
