A HEATED Debate Over Just Stop Oil's Climate Protest Methods!

- Just Stop Oil has caused another disruption with their protests, this time on the M25. So on Piers Morgan Uncensored with Jeremy Kyle we invited Just Stop Oil spokesperson Alex De Koning and former Top Gear presenter Steve Berry to debate the methods of these climate protests.
Jeremy begins by asking Alex if it's a good time for these demonstrations when people are struggling to heat their homes and eat because of the cost of living crisis. The 24-year-old responds by saying: "The cost of living crisis and climate crisis are closely related. We could be fixing both at the same time!". Steve combats this by saying "wouldn't it be great to be that young and idealistic!".
Steve suggests that Just Stop Oil should glue themselves to yachts rather than the M25 as they should be targeting the super-rich rather than disrupting "hardworking people" who are trying to get to work, hospital and school. Alex counters by saying it is the same disruptions they are complaining about which get Just Stop Oil members on to shows like this one to talk about the issues in detail - and he says they won't stop protesting until they get a response from the Government.

Let them glue themselves wherever they want. Then leave them there and allow people to get along with their days.

Yes, I understand they are attaching themselves to the framing and covers, but not to the actual works. We all know what eventually becomes of flies on fly paper.
Perhaps the museums could charge admission for the interactive spectacle while it lasts.
There's a lot of possibilities there.
Do that a few times, and they'll stop doing it. Rushing to their rescue is a waste of resources for emergency workers.

His argument is “Extreme passion means extreme measures.”
That’s a dangerous game, my friend. What if one of these motorists has an extreme passion of not being blocked by climate activists. He decides to get a tire iron out of his trunk and beat you silly with it to drag you out of the street.
By your argument, his extreme passion justifies his actions. If the government stops issuing gas licenses, you’ll stop blocking the motorway. If you would stop blocking the street, he wouldn’t beat you with a tire iron. Do you see the levels this gets to?

Essentially he's saying his opinion is worth more than yours. What if I decided my opinion was more important than his, and camped outside his house so he couldn't get to Uni? Exactly the same principle.
I have to say - Kyle is a much better interviewer than Morgan. He lets people speak rather than interrupting incessantly.
He Hardly let him finish a sentence.if they are going to have these debates can’t they at least have a 30 min debate instead of a very short 7:29 video.

No, but changes in CO2 concentrations play a major role in taking the planet into and out of full glaciations. Technically, we are in an ice age as ice is at the poles.
Discussions like these are definitely a good start for all folks to understand the issues from big oil. It's obviously a difficult transition...

OK Alex, let’s here what your plan is. You said that the UK has 8 years of oil left and that is plenty to transition. I’ve opened this up to be global because if only the UK does this it will make no difference whatsoever.

40 degrees in London this year it was for 1 or 2 days in other parts of the world it's like 30 and 40 degrees constantly
Even if we didn’t use it for fuel, we’d still use petroleum products for thousands of other purposes. Oil isn’t ever going to be stopped. If we’re hit by a massive EMP that sent us back to the Stone Age we’d still use it.

Today's temperatures are directly as a result of increasing GHG concentrations. The strong effect CO2 has on climate is clear in our planets history
