Lenny ready for a road trip? Going to see what it’s going to take to get a 4106 back on the road?

    Thank you Scott, for going back to the roots of your channel. I am glad that your business has grown and is thriving, but I was losing interest. How many wheel bearing and air bag replacements do I need to watch. Abandoned bus rescues are fun to watch. I do miss you driving
    Lenny to the next adventure with Kelly’s feet on the dash. Thanks for bringing back the revivals.

    If your battery lugs are that corroded, then you might want to take off the heat shrink and clean the exposed wires also and put a new heat shrink back on. Cause the corrosion will come back if you don't get rid of it.

    Ahh, the 4106. I had a 1964 4106 fully converted back in 2000. Allison automatic with an 8V71 dd engine. It was designed to be fully self sustainable for boondocking. Still had the greyhound emblem just under the windshield. I miss my baby, had to sell it in 2010 when diesel prices went through the roof in 2008.

    That 4106 looks like it was a Hotel hopper Tour bus if I ever saw one. We're gunning it to the next hotel but if we have too we can rotate and drive straight there. It's bare minimum for accommodations and looks like they intend to hit a hotel for bathing or stopping at truck stops for food and bath if have too. this was a very spartan Tour bus if it is one and I don't see people living in it outside of it being more like a farry service from the label to try and keep the stage warmers/opening acts able to get from gig to gig on the tour.

    Well that "new" 4106 needs some work. It looks to have rusty bits on the frame, air leaks, engine oil leaks from the usual places, a few bay doors have made their bids for freedom. And as for the interior....
    Band bus? Maybe, but certainly not a well though out one; sanity would place the loo between the open bunk room and the private bunk that way the plebs could use it without having to disturb the boss-man while he's doing his thing back there. Also, where's the beer fridge and coffee maker?
    Shame about your preferred insurer having stopped doing RV conversion insurance for whatever reason. I'm sure you will find someone in the next few days (and probably have by the time you read this).
    Take care, and I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of this bus's story, with Lenny sat alongside rendering aid and comfort.

    Given that the corrosion has in all probability worked its way into the battery cables and is impossible to remove it would probably pay to replace them completely. It is usually recommended that you disconnect the batteries completely if you are not using the vehicle regularly and have it In long term storage.

  • @bill8582
    @bill8582 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Well if they want it off of their property, then they should just give it to you. It obviously needs a lot of work, and not everyone wanting a bus, knows how to work on them, so finding a buyer could take a long time. A guy I know, just purchased a pretty nice 70s MCI, it had been sitting since 2007, had brand new 2007 tires on it, after he talked the lady down from 4K to 1500, he went and got it running, and drove it 30 miles to his house. I was going to buy it, just to save it, but I have enough with my bus to spend money on lol.
    Edit: now if it would have been a Silversides 🤔 lol.

    Save-A-Lot of inhaling that battery corrosion just take some baking soda mix it with water and pour it over the whole works including the cables it'll totally neutralize everything on the external of the battery just don't let it get around the caps. There's no sense in using a grinder with wire wheel on your battery terminals.

    Messy but very effective. A light coat of wheel bearing grease on all exposed metal, posts, clamps, cables, bolts, terminal ends. A very farmer anti corrosion method, but also the most effective I have ever seen.

    We cant wait for all your newest videos. Will you be refabbing the inner structure on the Scenicruiser so the floorline will be near to the factory specs? I hope you get it somewhat back to its original structural rigitity so it doesnt get bowed out of shape. Id just redo the outside to Greyhound Company specs and just wrap the interier in new waterproof sound deadener and the old boy would be a rolling bill board for your business. Hows your tractor doing. Our new one like it keeps losing the PTO signal from the elect module about once every 45 minutes and dealer cant seem to get to bottom of problem. Take care, Bill and Paula

    Care to comment on whether you think an “A” timed engine is better than a normal one? The company I worked with when I was 25, claimed they were the pioneer in that regard. The fleet was all A timed and rpm’s set to 2450. We had a 4106 that would run 92 mph. Edited to note. The bus you viewed in this video looks like an old Indian Trails unit.

      Don't think any of Lenny's forward lights are red. Amber turn signals and the big amber fog lights between the headlights were once the vogue.
