After owning 2 GM vehicles including a 2005 GMC truck I bought a Tundra. @@pzm958 I work as a mechanic at a European repair shop and it is becoming way too often that this is a problem. Most tow truck drivers do a quick google search and if they can’t figure it out they are dragging it on the truck and shaking it back off. Luckily we have yet to see any immediate damage as a result.
Another issue is for example we had a dead Range Rover Evoque towed in and not only was it stuck in park, which I had to get out for him, and after doing so we figure out that the electronic parking brake was stuck as well. The car had water leaking inside and wouldn’t power up.
      This is totally unacceptable!

I've been saying this for a long time now. With over 100 years experience, they haven't yet figured out how to maintain a high standard of reliability. Fuel pumps, injectors, AFM, Magna Ride, windshield wipers, 8L90, etc. The list is too long of things they should have been able to perfect by now. Yet, I'm the one stuck paying the repair bills. Am I the luckiest to have a 20.18 Denali with Magna Ride, a 6.2 with AFM and an 8L90?
Here in Canada at around 55k KM I had to replace the front Magna ride (quoted 3300$). Then near the same time ran into transmission problems which were addressed by kicking the problem down the road (fluid change) as now at 80k KM all the problems are are back. Yesterday, I shifted to drive and it didn't move, just revved up and then lurched HARD into gear. I'm not excited for it to fail, it's going to cost what 10k maybe? This truck was MSRP ~73k CDN when I bought it. By the time I hit 200k KM, it's possible that I would have spent over 30k in repairs.
The cost of these trucks is way too high given the number of issues and costs associated with ownership. You would have to be a fool to buy one. More bonus bucks for Mary Barra right out of your pocket and mine.
Next time, I'm going to try a Toyota, overall it seems they have reliablility figured out much better.

I’m a mechanical engineer for over 35+ years. It’s fascinates me to watch these guys make short work of hauling a vehicle. For those of us from the rust belt, fly over region of USA, where people tow their own vehicles know what this young man did is a 4 hour job for us amateurs. Tow truck technology has morphed into something completely different than 40/50 years ago where it was a hood and chain. Lots of time, when we were teens and 20s, pushed or pulled with a chain or if you were lucky you could get a few 100’ of seat belt webbing. Towing was exciting because rear vehicle had to do the braking. If the brakes were shot you tie a few tires, less rims to the front or rear between the vehicles and kept the speed under 25. 3 tires can stop a car from 25 if tow car stays off the brakes and bounces forward upon impact. I specialized in safety engineering after all the near fatal car repair events I had before I was 19 years old. Similar experiences with boats and motor cycles. It’s what little boys do and now I see little girls out doing it too. At the time, with a brain that as of yet was not fully developed is what we did, it was common sense at the time, now, we were nutz. The good old days, it a wonder a lot of us are still here.

Excellent job Dustin. Taking pics and video are excellent tools to help prevent complaints and lawsuits. From the look of the tires, that was a low mileage truck. GM not so much. Working Fire/EMS the tow truck operators were extremely helpful at auto collision scenes and I was very grateful and happy to work with them. Both my Titan and my wife's Mazda go into neutral w/o starting the engine. If you have a dead battery, it's a different story.

Great job of loading and unloading!!! Back in my days of towing, we never used those straps between the spokes of the wheels. The webbing of the straps would leave small imprints in the finish. But also when I drove a tow truck, those interference engines would also brake a belt . I could predict the mileage on their car. 80K for local, 100-120K highway. Then they changed to a timing chain , problem eliminated. Thank for sharing.

Garbage Manufacturing Corp, It's Not hard if it's done by qualified individuals who actually care about what their doing but GM has had a LONG history of manufacturing junk and then testing it out on the public. For years people have had Blind loyalty to this company and will buy time and time again despite having to spend thousands on repairs compared to comparable vehicles. They truly don't give a shit about quality. Toyota and Honda would never do things this way. Ford and Chrysler (or whatever the hell their called now) are the same way too.

Yes, I'm fully aware. I'm in the automotive repair / service business. I own and operate a large automotive repair facility. The difference is, in the case of Toyota when they put out some faulty 3.0 liter v6 engines, they owned up to it right away ( Didn't wait for class actions lawsuits) immediately stepped up and replaced them NO QUESTIONS ASKED. They even extended the factory warranty on the vehicle. The domestics would NEVER do such a thing. Many companies have abandoned customer service /support for quick profits. In GM's case, I can think of at least 6 customer's of ours who have newer GM's with MAJOR issues that GM will not rectify. @@ramaswamynarayanaswamy4806

A close friend works for Chevy dealership as a machanic and has for 45 years, and we've talked about the pickups GMC and Chevy are putting out today, and he's told me sense 2006 he wouldn't by one but he told me in 1987 that's when he noticed the GM product going g done and yes sells where good but the quality was crap and today he wouldn't own one because the parts that fail are the same one's every time and the new parts they put on are just bad and he's replacing the same parts on 10 yr to 2 yr old trucks everyday. He drives a RAM 3\4 ton and said it has its problems to but GM and FORD Pickups have more issues than RAM Pickups
