    This is exactly the type of creamed corn recipe/method I was looking for. I wanted something pure and without all the other stuff added. I can imagine that this tastes wonderful. Thank you!!

    Use a mandoline to cut the corn tops off and cheese grater to get the milk out. Trust me you'll save a ton of time and way less hand cramping.

    When I am making my creamed corn freshly I always add salt, pepper and some lard or bacon grease, would I do this before I can or add those when I am going to heat up to eat. Thanks for your reply in anticipation.🥰

    Easier way. Cut the kernels off with a knife, scrape out the cream with the knife, then run the kernels through your food processor.

    if you use an angel food pan or a bundt pan you can stand the corn in the center hole of the pan and then when you scrape the corn off it just goes down into where the kid part of the pan is it makes the job a lot easier cuz things are held for you

    I just worked up 2 bushels of corn a few days ago. I have 8 quarts of freezer corn ( my favorite) and 16 pints of the corn canned ( my husbands favorite)! It is a lot of work but so worth it! I shuck and cut the corn outside because it is so messy! The last and only time I cut it off the cob inside I had corn everywhere! It was weeks after I was done and I was still finding pieces of corn stuck on things😜
    I am waiting on my tomatoes to get ripe so I can make salsa and sauce. They are coming in late this year because we had such a late planting year this year.

    • @wholesome.heartfelt
      @wholesome.heartfelt  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +vickie Yaroch that's why I started doing it in the sink. Inside a tub. Not as messy. We love corn here. It's always worth it to have fresh tasting corn over tinned corn.
      Everyone tomatoes are coming in slowly this year. I am working on salsa today. Love making this stuff lol.

    Hi, Christine-I am exhausted today as I was up until 2:30 am waiting for the last canner load to come out. I canned 8 pint and a half spaghetti sauce, 6 quarts V-8 juice, 5 pints of pizza sauce and 9 1/2 pints of sloppy Joe starter sauce. Green beans, peppers and zucchini again today...very rewarding but exhausting work. I could not even walk after I was done. Day before, 8 hrs. milling tomatoes.Did you find the sloppy Joe starter really vinegar zingy? I added a few tablespoons more of Brown sugar. Also, my pizza sauce this time was really lemon-flavored also. Fixed that in a hurry. Stay calm and can on, my friend.

    I would try a small batch of this to see if I enjoy/use it. Is my assumption of 1 ear of corn = 1 cup of corn closish (before adding the water. etc)? This to have an idea how much to buy to have some but not a truckload. I have a hard tome canning small batches so appreciate your assistance.

    • @wholesome.heartfelt
      @wholesome.heartfelt  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +LyLy MoWa my book says.
      You'll need about 4 medium ears of corn for each pint jar. I am not good at small batch canning either.
