I like it only if the manufacturer gives a lifetime warranty on the screens. Tecno produces a foldable device that looks pretty good. It's popular in Asia.
Looks great, I just wish they would stop with these accordion style dual folding phones, folding OLEDs simply don't have the durability to be on the outside like that, they really need to have a letter fold style where the left or right side fold over the front of the middle and the other side folds over that with a separate cover screen on the back side of that section.
Samsung display has a prototype like that without a cover display. It would be thicker than 11 mm with a cover display for sure but at least it would be practical 😊
Considering that there's already a phone like this out in "the wild" (I know it's an executive holding a concept device as well but still) I don't think we're too far off from seeing a company try to be the first one to release a "tri-folding" (I'm actually with you on your point from a while ago: it only folds twice idk why they call it TRI fold smh) foldable for consumers. I wouldn't be willing to be a first adopter of one of these phones, but after a couple generations, I would absolutely be willing to switch from the traditional foldables I now use (I refuse to go back to regular phones now lol) to a "tri-foldable" SIMPLY so I can actually watch a proper 4K, fullscreen video THAT WILL FILL OUT THE ENTIRE SCREEN!!!
100% I feel with U... I will never buy any 1st generation of anything... I'm using the Galaxy Fold 2 (for 4 yrs) now... I've ordered the P9FP 512gb Porcelain and can't wait till it's the 4th of September... I will refuse to ever go back to any normal slab phone...😜

@@nacho3570 Yeah it is unfortunate we don't get the same access to the Chinese phone companies like Huawei, Vivo, Honor, etc, because some of them are making FANTASTIC devices that just wont work 100% of the way you want them to if you're not in China, with the exception of "international versions" that some of them will release several months after their initial launch in China. I would have considered getting an Honor Magic V3 instead of a OnePlus Open if Honor had launched an international version alongside the Chinese one, but I still love the Open. See Oppo figured it out by having a second, separate sister company in OnePlus for international releases that can't be tied down by China's business policies, and all they have to do is change the model name. I'd love to see Honor do the same.
Imagine this device with the OnePlus open's minimal crease and an open canvas even WITH the three apps on screen where you can access full screen apps horizontally or vertically. I'm probably fantasy booking what I'd want this to be, (which is a multitasking powerhouse.) but i'm intrigued by this foldable.
This is pretty sick, although I bet opening up the device will not be so seamless as the video depicted, nonetheless, pretty dope! The laptop mode was also really cool.
The sloped "fatter" part with the cameras would make holding it in tablet mode easier to grip. You'd have to hold it with your right hand though and use the left hand for you main touch interactions.
5:42 I can now see why Samsung is trying to release their version of the Trifold. This concept is demonstrating some unrealistic thinnest that is transcending all know technological barriers. The Trifold will ultimately compete with the book style foldable, because if the Trifold overall design is flawlessly good the book style foldable will be an after-thought. Everybody is trying to test the waters with the Trifold concept. This Tecno render of the Trifold is truly aesthetically appealing and I certainly know that the customers will love this model if everything is manufactured perfectly. I love innovative concepts like those rendered in this illustration. 😎💯💪🏾👍🏾
It took me a while to understand this concept, but I noticed it doesn't first unfold into a foldable-like squarish screen before transitioning to the tablet screen. Instead, it goes straight to the tablet screen. If that is what Tecno has in mind, I'm looking forward to this tech, and I'm saying that as someone who isn't a fan of foldable phones in the first place. Think about it - you have a pocketable 10" tablet with a normal tablet screen aspect ratio. I still maintain that a rollable screen is the better idea, but this is a good start.
Samsung showed off a concept fold where you could fold it in two directions. They should absolutely do this with the double-fold (tri-fold) so you can choose whether you want a cover screen or more durability .
I love the concept! I think the 10 inch screen will be better for watching content... less huge black bars and much better multitasking. I would never say no to more screen real estate. I just hope the prices aren't too crazy
Mmm, I don't know. The outside part where it flex's is kind of concerning. You'd have to keep it in some kind of box designed as a case if you want to take it everywhere you go.
You know what I like the most about the concert? You don't need a secondary display, which my OP Open does..!! And with a good case it could be safe to drop even! Intrigued by the design! Hope the screens get wider and less tall.
Techno Phantom Ultimate 2... ALPHA! The Tournament of the Future! The ORIGINS of the real 'Z-shaped' Fold! Ready? FIGHT!! Bruh love the enthusiam for folding tech! Maybe start a kickstarter now to get it, ship it and review it live! Lol
Just got a flip foldable from Motorola and I love it. Considered all foldables and chose the portable version because of one huge downside to these phones - the battery is smaller as the hinge takes up space which for candybar phones is battery real estate. With the proposed concept phone this same problem would still be in effect which is that the battery capacity would be smaller than on a candybar phone as three smaller batteries would need to drive three ordinary screens. Future will definitely have these dual folding phones but for now the current single fold phones need to be perfected. Would be cool to see a something like my current phone - Motorola Razr 50 +, but with e-ink display on the outside screen. That way a lot of stuff could be done by using tiny amounts of power and phone could be opened for serious computing/animation needs.
I'd be more excited for a duo type multi screen fold with hinges in each direction. It won't happen but having the ability to still have glass screens with the large potential display. Having the natural center point not be a hinge because it's between three screens. It seems like a pretty neat potential concept.
That's just a ridiculous gimmick some manufacturers use to make their sale prices & vouchers/coupons look better. You've been able to buy the Honor V2 for less than 1200 euro for months now (directly from Honor), even though the retail price is far higher. Don't trust retail prices.
To be fair, at least a part of the extra cost of adding a hinge and making the foldable display bigger is gonna be compensated by not needing an external screen. Same thing with thickness: the reason a trifold is not *that* much thicker than a normal foldable is that those ones already have the thickness for three OLED panels (one external + one internal folded over itself)
1:42 I could see that design being used to also fit a full-sized S Pen on the back of a Galaxy tri-fold without sticking out too far, and a kickstand too. Accessories on this type of phone could easily make it actually fit the role of a tablet rather than a bigger phone that *kinda* does tablet things. Regardless, I absolutely would not be an early adopter for this kind of product, I'm scared enough of my phone's durability with a single bend and the fragile screen being covered when not in use.
You could partner with the Average Dad channel, out of Scotland, and I am sure that you might be able to do a collab with Mike on the Huawei device as he will probably carry it in his tech store.

I kinda use my folds for business and media consumption. So just a good front facing cam is good for me for zoom meetings and video calls. While my candy bar fon could have all the cam tech. Kinda like a tablet why they keep trying to improve the back cameras but we generally consume it for media

First of all its your opinion, and if these are released people will buy it, maybe very few but people will. Secondly the price is the biggest problem for these, even the normal foldables aren't selling as much because they're very expensive, and because these are three panels that fold and engineering this is gonna be very hard and expensive... So the price will be High
They will exist and people will buy them, being able to fold a 10-11" tablet into a phone is amazing, and clearly thickness is not an issue since this is thinner than the Z fold 6. Personally I'd welcome a thicker phone anyways, way more comfortable to hold and use than an ultra thin phone. Really the only issue with this design is it puts part of the fragile foldable screen on the outside of the phone when folded which is not good.
Even if it's just a concept, I love phones getting exciting again. Something new and different.
