With all this shadowy speak of Source 2 I feel like Valve needs to really introduce new IPs and maybe sequels to already existing properties. Left 4 Dead, Portal, and the king of the mountain Half Life would greatly benefit from this new engine they have been working on as well restoring hope to loyal fans of those series respectively. I mean CSGO is a heavily updated or remastered version of CS: Source so if they were to maybe redo Day of Defeat that would be a pleasant surprise to some but right now Valve needs to really freshen up and update its catalog of first party games with new IPs. You can only make so many Counter Strikes and DOTAs till it get stale. Not saying they are bad but we as consumers and fans want something NEW after all this time.

One unfortunate issue with VR that'll always be present is that some people don't have the stomach for it. It turns off a lot of players, and completely shuts out others just by nature. I'm a huge Half Life fan, but I will never play Alyx because I can't justify hardware that nearly knocked me unconscious from nausea. VR is cool in theory of course, but I find it hard to get excited about it and I can understand why it's the same with so many others.

Ive had to work professionally with hand tracking software. Using leap motion and manus VR and such. Trying to calibrate and combine their data together for optimal response and minimal blind spots. It never came close to this accuracy, this is amazing

Yes, the knuckles have pressure sensors and they probably use those to predict finger movement since the in-game fingers can curl up more than the real hand with the controllers.
It's still impressive for the fact that you can (although a bit off at times) accurately move your entire hand AND fingers in VR without using triggers but with motion sensors.
Every button has what is called capacive touch, just like the Oculus controllers. What makes the index controller different is simply the range of the four fingers capacitive, and how high quality the tracking of your fingers distance is from the sensor.
Taking Cartesian duality to a whole new level.. amazing! A bit frightening though. Neurologists will have a field day with this as the technology begins to match our real bodies with there VR counterparts.
Imagine with the next next gen, we get a full on VR Body suit with a 360 degree treadmill attached with a belt for our body.... like in Ready Player One. Cannot wait for the future!

And i love immersion so the fingertracking is a huge bonus! And that the fact that its comfortable and lightweight. And i might get full body tracking aswell later on but we will see! The thing i see alot of people complain about is the cable mount on the back of the headset, i dont know if you have had this issue but if you have it, what was your solution? So i can fix it right away :)

For me, I have been doing cabled vr since 2015, so it's not much of an issue. I got used to it. It would be great if valve would release a wireless kit, but for me. I don't hate the cable unless I'm sleeping/laying down for a movie night in vr. Some people get pulley systems to hang the cable on their ceiling, but for me, that system feels worse. Like I'm being slowly hung from the gallows lol

heard its a learning system so the more you use a finger the better it tracks hes probably never really bent the ring finger as much so its probably just on the default settings but if he were to do it on a regular basis it would probably look pretty good(though i only vaguely remember a tech demo guy saying it so take it with a pinch of salt)

That’s extremely cool even if it’s not completely 1:1 movement. I previously thought it only sensed if a given finger was touching the surface or not.
