    I’ve had this for about a year. It is nice to not have a cord. I really like it. It’s my most used woodworking tool.

    An excellent, no nonsense review! Thanks!

    slightly off-topic, but as an engineer who's just accepted that every film and sci-fi franchise will get this wrong, i appreciate that you correctly said "which damp vibrations" instead of "dampen" 🙃

      As an engineer who specializes in vibration diagnostics, I am so happy that you noticed! One of my greatest pet peeves that absolutely no one gets it right. I mean, they're not throwing water on those vibrations! 😂

    Love using mine to smoothing out drywall mud.

    Great review, thanks...been eyeing this for awhile since Milwaukee hasn't released a Fuel brushless version yet

      Same here actually - I saw reports the Milwaukee dust bin would randomly pop open too, so I decided to go DeWalt on this one. I grabbed it as a free tool with Home Depot's $200 4Ah/6Ah starter kit deal earlier this year. If I hadn't kept the batteries, I could have returned them and had the sander for a pro-rated $75.

    I love this sander, skipped the Milwaukee since it’s not brushless. I bought a $6 flexible pvc coupler as my vac adapter.

      That's the same reason I didn't buy the milwaukee. No Brushless motor that's a no go for me! Brushless is a must!

    Ha! Just picked this up this week. I like Milwaukee but the sander dust compartment falls off all the time. The dust bag for the Dewalt is waAAAAaaay better. Nice review!

      LOL, I bought mine about a month ago. The dust compartment is the main reason I picked this over the Milwaukee as well.

    My biggest complaint about this tool is it doesn't easily connect to a 1 and 1/4 inch standard shopvac. I saw one review where a guy said he spent more on adapters than he did the tool. This is pitiful on Dewalt's part. Great review by the way !

      Look into Rockler Dust Right FlexiPort connectors. I bought the 4 adapter kit and haven't found a small port power tool that they won't fit.

    Just picked this up today at Lowe's. As a kit, it came with a carry bag, charger and slim 4ah battery for....$113.

    Do they sell a dust port adapter for it? Being that it has a locking mechanism on it that would make sense.

    • @DoresoomReviews
      @DoresoomReviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It looks like this is the adapter that fits: amzn.to/3vo6ble
      It's nice that it locks on, but it's a little pricey!

      @@DoresoomReviews oh my, that's 25% of the cost of the bare tool!

    Sanded our balcony( 8' x 12') with the milwaukee M18, it killed the 9AH battery in maybe 45 minutes? almost 10 minutes per amp hour is nice for the dewalt, wish theyd come out with an updated fuel version, long run time tools like sanders and grinds absolutely need to be brushless.

    • @DoresoomReviews
      @DoresoomReviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow, that's a crazy difference! I was using 220 grit, so it's possible something coarser could lower runtime. Maybe I need to do more testing... 😄

    So... if a battery vibrates, it's charge holding capacity is shortened??

    • @DoresoomReviews
      @DoresoomReviews  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, its overall life can be shortened due to the wear and tear induced by vibration. So you might need to buy a replacement sooner if you use a battery exclusively in a tool that produces high vibration. But this sander is relatively low vibration compared to something like an impact wrench.

  • @glencandle1772

    I have purchased two of these and neither one spins, just vibrates. Feels against the odds to get two defective units in a row, but alas there is no spin. Am I missing something?

    • @DoresoomReviews
      @DoresoomReviews  ปีที่แล้ว

      The pad should vibrate as well as spin slowly. Does it have the small clear rubber belt underneath the pad, and is it connected to the idler?

    • @glencandle1772
      @glencandle1772 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DoresoomReviews Hey thanks for following up. Incidentally, mine doesn't spin until I apply pressure, which is strange because all of the videos I've seen show it spinning in the air. Oh well, seems to work so I'm fine ;)

    I bought the same one at Ebay and I would like to know if those made in China are the original ones or are fake.

    • @DoresoomReviews
      @DoresoomReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine says made in Mexico, but Stanley Black & Decker (DeWalt parent company) does manufacture in China too. So that's not a definite indicator it's a knock off.

    1+1/2 AH battery? Read the bottom. Isn't it 1.3? I don't bother with those at all. 2 AH seems to give decent balance with that tool.

    • @DoresoomReviews
      @DoresoomReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They make both a 1.3Ah and a 1.5Ah battery, usually both found in kits. I assume it's to cut costs instead of just including the 2Ah in the kit.

      I have never had that happen ever with all the batteries I've used with it. Are you sure the battery is fully engaged?
