    Excellent video. Been riding 42 years myself. Two kinds of people, those who have been down, and those who are going down. If you ride long enough it will happen.

    I ride a sport bike what I found that works for ccw is either appendix carry or shoulder carry. These are just two options I would recommend. Hope all goes well with ur dr appt brother

      Definitely shoulder or appendix for a sport bike.

    Joe Rocket makes a really nice 'Alter Ego' jacket that has zip off panels to reveal a mesh inner layer. It's armored and comfortable for all the heat we get out here in the desert (100+)

    Appendix about 90% of the time, bit I carry occasionally at the 4 o'clock as well. I live in Texas, so I'm not worried about the short flapping as a general rule. I ride a bagger and my shirts are long, so I can always tuck my shirt under my rear end. Ride every day except the occasional ice or snow and I don't gear up except when it's below 40

    I ride a gsxr and carry at 4 o’clock, I just tuck my shirt under my belt but over my pistol and the wind doesn’t rip my shirt up. I do this on my off side as well!

    I ride a sport touring bike and found that a small pistol in a sticky holster fits great in the breast pocket of my mesh jacket. The pocket is just big enough for it to fit and not move around and the gun/holster goes in it in the right orientation for the draw. Not the fastest draw, but I can still get it out under 2 seconds. It’s better than nothing. If I get off the bike, I have the option of leaving my jacket on and keeping the gun with me or taking the jacket off and locking it up in my top case, without anyone seeing the gun.

    That Galco shoulder rig would take care of the flapper problem. Hard to film at rush hour in Camden.😁

    • @georgecook5120
      @georgecook5120 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was thinking the same a shoulder rig would work. Also a tank bag would work too. Now...If one is going to wear the gear (ATGATT), what pistol/revolver should be used? I was thinking a revolver might be the best option for that, maybe the S&W M&P R8 or TRR8. The reason being it eliminates a malfunction if you limp wrist it while shooting and there should be ample room to get your index finger in their easily. That's all theory. I haven't tried it out yet. It would be interesting to see if anyone has.

    Good advice on the left turn signal I have dragged a boot heel across a few hoods in 22 years of Harley riding. I have had success with a shoulder holster set up when I ride. I also have a undershirt with a padded pocket that is ok, but not my go to.

  • @proteusX3

    Jame,I'm still laughing from your comment " Anybody that has their left turn signal on is tiring to kill you." This the main reason I don't ride anymore in New Jersey

    I carry IWB strong side and I've never had a problem with my jacket flapping in the breeze and flashing my gun to the world. (Then again, I live in AZ, nobody would care if it did.) Most good bike jackets have a waist adjustment to prevent it from flapping around. Unless, of course, one rides with their jacket unzipped, which makes it halfway useless in the event of a crash...

    That flannel is a super good idea. Thanks for sharing. Short story about wrecking while carrying below for those interested.
    Took a Trip from Wilmington Nc up to the “Tail of the Dragon” and about halfway there a guy about took me out and I put the bike down. Bounced hard and then slid on Glock carried at 4 o clock under clothing with I believe a bravo concealment at the time . Super thankful for a good holster and a better gun. Left an almost perfect gun/holster shape bruise but no holes. Finished the other 1200 miles beat up but still not unarmed!

    I love my icon gear. Had it since I started riding back in 06….damn it’s been forever. But I didn’t start carrying until 2010. Now I’m on a Vulcan and the seat pushes against my holster, but I’ve never had an issue and I make sure to pay attention to it. Sport bike? I usually have my nylon jacket on so I don’t have to worry about the shirt coming up. I also don’t ride it much anymore cause my cruiser is more comfortable.

    I don’t ride but I was curious to see what you had to say about this. About a year ago someone was on a crotch rocket and his gun was in clear view. Later down the road I noticed he was pulled over. This could have been the reason. I don’t know but I’m always conscious about where my gun is and if it’s concealed

  • @ChevyNglockMan

    Normal iwb holster works for me on my bike, mesh jacket for summer, leather for winter and don't have issues. The owb holsters tend to have the jacket lift up around the grip when moving around

    Been waiting for this video for a while!!! Thanks James!!! Keep the shiny side up!!! I ride a 2020 Road Glide, 2008 Kawasaki Concours 14 and a Honda CBR900RR(954). If I wear a jacket, I can wear the same rig on any bike. I just wear a mesh jacket for the summer.

    I ride a Buell Lightning Ss and usually carry appendix. I think the important thing is to practice. The extra bulk and stiffness of riding gear can an impede and cause challenges you normally wouldn’t have in casual clothes. Also depending on the type of gloves you use drawing and firing can be almost impossible. So no matter what you ride or wear just make sure to dry fire and practice so you are smooth and proficient. Stay safe out there gents! 🤙

    I will add one thing. In addition to all vehicles with left turn signals trying to kill you...ALL other vehicles are trying to kill you! All vehicles and all humans and animals anywhere near where you're riding. They're all trying to kill you. Keep your head on a swivel and ride safely.

  • @greywolf556

    a holster setup that not a lot of people use anymore, but I have found to be perfect for me when riding, is a shoulder holster. You don't have to worry about clothing riding up and exposing the gun, or finding a holster with good retention capability (I'm left handed, so my options are, unfortunately, limited.)

  • @CutlassOutdoors
    @CutlassOutdoors 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    What’s your philosophy on gloves? Do you practice shooting with them or practice getting them off and out of the way? Just curious. Side note: I remember seeing a guy have a lot of trouble with his XD because he hadn’t practiced with gloves and he wasn’t hitting the grip safety well enough.

      I would choose armor over leather. I don't wear a jacket without armor in it anymore.
      Leather is decent for road rash, but you need the armor for the impact.

    Sound advice as always. I'm a proponent of CCW because ppl dont need to know. But out here in AZ when it's over 110, I'll leg carry due to my water vest. I take long trips from PHX to Tucson often. My thought is, most ppl dont see me anyway and if they notice my FN - so what? It's AZ!

    I had been waiting for this video, but was more interested in 'carry considerations for an accident,' and 'how to draw thru the gear when off the bike,' more so than 'how to keep the gun concealed while riding.'
    It looks like you stash your gear in the trunk, though, while I wear the jacket and usually have a backpack.
    (Darn sport bike guys!). ;-p

    Definitely good advice, but that 3 piece helmet will not be a strong as a one piece they are more convenient though. I ride motocross so crashes are part of it and good gear and padding is extremely important. One time my front tire dropped into a pretty deep hole and the stopped instantly and I kept going. The bars hit my leg above my knee so hard I couldn't walk for almost an hour and was limping for weeks. WEAR YOUR GEAR

      No doubt about that. Came for the CCW talk, left with the ATGATT fumbling through words…
      We get it, you’ve never been into sportbikes… Your only mention of CCW was with sportbike riders carrying 5-6 o’clock and their shirt comes up…
      No mention of how you CCW on your road glide, or ideas of how to on a cruiser, nothing… Worthless video.
      Oh yea, and that class of bike you couldn’t remember what it was called that sits upright is a standard bike. GS/CB,KZ etc etc…
