- Viserys Targaryen was fond of and loved his younger brother there is no doubt of that. But Daemon Targaryen surely became worthy of the title 'the rogue prince' as he would be an ever-present headache in the king's life, with the prince never happy with his lot. So much so he would mount an innovation of the stepstones to crown himself king of the narrow sea. Game Of Thrones / House of the dragon are HBO shows based on Geroge R R Martins A Song Of Ice And Fire series. The information in this video comes from the books a world of ice and fire as well as fire and blood.

Cole is very questionable the man was clearly a power climber. He wanted to get a head in the world. Viserys the first was stupid. So very stupid it makes my head hurt, just how dumb Viserys was. Hightower was playing him for a fool. Alicent just did what her family told her to do. But also wanted power an likely was a bit like Cersei in that respect. Only she wasn't quiet as dumb as Cersei was. Not completely anyway, but still the fact no one cared that she was thrown in chains. Shows that she wasn't helping the city or its residents.
I dont even think he was a climber. He was just an emotional man who wanted validation. First he wanted Rhaenyra's validation and when that failed he became Alicent's lackey.
It’s great to see Matt Smith play the Rogue Prince and show his human side not just the Blood of the dragon

Daemon and Corlys are the best. When ur done with this series could you make an analysis on Daemon and Rhaenyra’s marriage. Pls I need someone with an analytical mind on this not some swooning fanboy/girl
It’s definitely something I’m planning to take a look at. I think its a lot more complicated than it seems if you take if the fanboy glasses off. I’m working on something similar with Jaehaerys and Alysanne as well
@@WorldOfWesteros exactly, like I believe he used her to get back at Daemon, after he lost his child, he spoke of viserys after ONLY with anger and began brooding on the succession. I interpret this clearly as him 2 birds on stone with Rhaenyra, he shakes viserys and gets the throne

@@WorldOfWesteros my favorite ASOIAF map that I have right now was from a guy from Germany called Klaradox. I spoke with him about buying his digital or if he had prints and he decided to start selling limited prints - he's expanded a ton since then (I bought it like 7 or 8 years ago), definitely recommend checking him out!

Viserys and Daemon should’ve spent more time together. Perhaps if their mother had lived longer. The Hightowers were close to him and they seduced him into betraying his own blood. Viserys clearly should’ve named Daemon his heir.
And new Maegor the Cruel coming to the throne? It was Daemon who suggested that two betrayers Ulf the White and Hugh the Hammer get Storm's End and Casterly Rock after they destroy Lannisters and Baratheons. The stupidest idea out of all stupid ideas in Westeros.
I think ether he should have named Daemon or married rhaenyra and Aegon. For me it was specifically marrying rhaenyra to Laenor, a someone with a claim form a powerful house was a poor decision. Honestly if any of Jaehaerys older kids lives longer the whole situation could have been avoided

@@WorldOfWesteros Daemon should have realized that his brother was lost by the time he married Alicent and overthrow Viserys alongside the Velaryons. 4 dragons and the largest war chest/fleet could win with ease
@@bensonfang1868 Because they wouldn't be satisfied with anything less than ruling the kingdom themselves and each had powerful dragon, the fault wasn't that they weren't rewarded enough but their character. That decision would likely dissolve Westeros in to warring barbaric kingdoms ruled by dragonlords.

Daemon seemed like the biggest trouble maker of the era. If he just didn't exist would the Dance have been prevented?
It’s hard to say. He definitely made the situation worse and was a big figure in it. But after making all my Jaehaerys videos I started to see a conflict of some sort was inevitable. Succession was a mess, and the way Alysanne had married off her children to lords and other big house together on a way began making the division that would be the catalyst for the greens and blacks. The great council of 101 should have prevented something like this from happening by setting a standard but Viserys ignoring that really was the match that lit the flame. Some sort of conflict was inevitable Daemon just made it more complicated and in effect worse
he should have poisoned his brother at the wedding with alicent and seized the throne alongside the velaryons. That would have stopped the Dance. Daemon was a far better military commander and soldier than his brother anyway.
Trouble maker? Man was keeping trade routes open and the city streets safe.
Being a great military commander didn’t make a good king though. Take a look at Maegor. Viserys I wasn’t as awful as Aenys I at least, even if he wasn’t a warrior. He was just stupid for covering his ears to all the problems(from Rhaenyra’s bastards by Strong to Daemon’s problems with Lady Royce)and all these built to the Dance.

So Rhaenys was not blond?
It's complicated. When Princess And The Queen first came out she was described as blond. We also didn't know who her mother was at this point. When fire and blood and world of ice and fire came out years later it changed to black. People speculate this is due to her mother being added in and her being a Baratheon and GRRM wanting to maintain the hair colour genetics plot that allowed Ned to figure out Joffrey was not Roberts. So yeah the most recent versions of the text she has Black Hair but originally it was blond.
