    It's great watching what a Series 2A doing what it's supposed to be doing.
    It's a damn travesty and shame they stopped making the true ICONS of the four wheel drive world.
    I'd place my two old Land Rovers (a 1957 series 1 diesel 86 wheel and my series 2A 1965 diesel 109" wheel base station wagon against any other.
    Greetings from Florida and the United States of America !
    Safe travels and journeys.
    Thank you for sharing your series 2A with us.

    Great to see you having such a good time and using your series for what it was made for.
    Oh and by the way, she’s a keeper.
    Lucky guy.

    Nice wee truck, you don't often see them in that configuration these days, most of them go for the full hard top with rear door, just a pity it wasn't a four wheel drive, that really makes all the difference!
    Unfortunately where I live (here in New Zealand) we don't have anywhere handy to play like you do, there where you are, anymore. Fortunately I am old enough though to be considered one of the last of the 'Great Mohicans' whereby I made the most of the wee off road nooks and cranny's that were around whilst they lasted. At any rate I quite enjoyed this wee video, thanks for posting.

      look up "4x4 tracks NZ" on here. We have world class off roading here in NZ I don't know what you're talking about. There's literally hundreds and hundreds of little hidden places on DOC land.

    • @productions4452
      @productions4452 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jackthurgood9614 No I don't think so. Most of the Turkish vehicles used by the Turkish forces in Cyprus were some made in Turkey. The Cypriot national Guard has a lot of these British jeeps because the British left them behind when Cyprus declared indipendence and they also bought a few more during the 60s. During the 70s they started beeing replaced by Greek made ones. Right now they are not so much used anymore because many years have passed since then but I think some are still active in the Cypriot National Guard.

    hi guys, have you tried locking the diffs and using the low range gearbox. excellent video, really enjoyed it. 😀 👍 👍

    • @jeremyslade8603
      @jeremyslade8603 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nice idea but Series Land Rovers don't have diff locks. Low range, 2nd gear, clutch up and use the steering to prevent cross axle. That'll all help

      sounds good - might try and get a few Series out there - there's about 10 of us with Series that meet at the pub in Rutland monthly (more often I hope over the Summer). Looking for some non-damaging fun places to drive them 4x4 - Yarwell is quite local..

    I'm looking to purchase one. Is it worth it for daily use on awfully rough roads and long trips? Or are there better off roaders out there?

    • @TattyCarTravels-VW
      @TattyCarTravels-VW  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Andrew Austin hi, it depends on your needs and what you're prepared to put up with. The old land rovers are not great on fuel, very rattly and slow.. you can fit more modern engines for more speed/better mpg.. but if you buy any 4x4 from the last 20 years.. they are all better made.. reliable and do a great job off and on road. They have to be so they can compete on the market.. Japanese prob the best but it's all down to what your taste is and budget.. hope this helps and cheers for watching

      Tatty Car Travels i'm a person who generally loves pre 2005 vehicles. I don't really care for comforts and I just need a thing to carry oil tanks to and fro. But how much an unrestored Series IIA may probably cost? Like the paint is faded, body unrestored (not very rusty) cabin looks like a burnt out house but the engine runs acceptably fine? By the way, greetings from Trinidad!

    • @TattyCarTravels-VW
      @TattyCarTravels-VW  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Andrew Austin not sure what it would cost in Trinidad but here in the U.K. It would cost approximately £2000 to £3000. :)

    • @firstclassatlanticflyer
      @firstclassatlanticflyer 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tatty Car Travels ah, not so bad as I thought it would have been! I'm sure it's cheaper down here, because many regard these as old trucks rather than collectibles... And they're around TTD $20K-30K if you convert the currency which is relatively cheap... Thanks!

    That's a really nice old Series Ii. You should rebuild it a bit more if you're going to treat it so roughly. Felt a bit sorry for it as you went crashing about.
    Careful you don't crack the chassis through. Old ones can easily snap their chassis between the leaf springs at the front, where they slam down and take a lot of impact.

    Looked like fun - I most enjoy offroading on dusty tracks, not interested in bombing through deep mud.... rocky hill climbs demand far more skill.

      Same engine as a Series 3. Should be on the road 12l/100km.
      I have to fine tune mine. It is using 15l in the city.
