No problem Ren. You make it very easy to want to show you some support! Thank you 🙏🏻🤗
Love you Ren. My 7yo son LOVES your music! He watched For Joe with me and has played it every day since! ❤❤❤
Beautiful ❤
🖤🖤🖤
The truest thing in this song has to be "The people who find it respect it", because yeah, they do. They even usually fall in love with it ♥️
❤😊😊😊😊
True. Just the same. I love the dude.funny cause I don't personally know him but it feels like I do.
@@susanwearn2617absolutely! I feel the same way, 💯!
Truest of truths.
Fall in love with it and get obsessed looking through the back catalogue and feel inspired by the craftsmanship in each song they hear of Rens! Respect for sure! 👍🙌🙌🙌🙌
I did not expect to see a musician like this in our time. So grateful to witness music history.
This has to be a joke. This shit is horrible.

Shit sucks. Don't blame me.
@@MikeRavia-xp5ig you are okay just the way you are💛🤘
Interesting how the audience reacted, more like watching a play or act than a ‘concert’. Amazing stuff ren.
From what I understand of this series the audience treats it like going to a symphony rather than a rock concert. They were very polite and wanted to hear what Ren had to say.
Makes me want them to set up a proper play/musical for these songs, because this set up is of course not ideal for that with all those mics
Why?
This song literally saved my life.
“There are no winners or losers in psychological warfare, but there are victims…and there are students.”
❤
It’s always amazing to hear these pivots in ppls lives all due to man like Ren and his magical ways of sharing so much intellect and education and support that is thankfully wing picked up by the masses step by step day by day. Stay strong, stay blessed ☝🏼❤️🤜🏼
I'm glad you are here where we are all learning together
Absolutely incredible piece of music, utterly mesmerising lyrics, truly inspired performance, words cannot express the impact on my life from discovering your music.
Very true. Leaning and turning the experience into something as positive as you can is a harder choice, but the better one.
Beautiful. There's something so powerful about hearing the audience holding their breath collectively through so much of it. Extraordinary as always my friend.
Would have been an amazing experience live but so grateful we can all still experience this wave of Ren
💯☝🏼❤️🤜🏼
@@MAXEMUSCOMust have been wonderful to be in the room. Or in the bar afterwards when everyone was trying to work out what the AF they'd just seen! 😂
You know they just ARE..holding their breathe cuz I still do nevermind being sat THERE 😍.
As always - EXTRAORDINARY!!! Beautifully done live. And like all of us, hearts were wrenched open, minds blown, and breath was sucked from our lungs. Again, thank you Ren for sharing with us!
I wonder how many people had tears in their eyes. I know I did.
Goosebumps.
When I sing from the top of my lungs...
Major
20 years of PTSD going through different veteran doctors, clinics, treatments and medications and I found this song. It explains exactly how it feels to have the battle in your mind with your body and the medical system. Thank you Ren.
Brilliant mate
My cousin came back with a Purple Heart after his 3rd tour. He struggled on a daily basis. But he's progressed an amazing amount. Keep hope my friend. Progress is ALWAYS possible.
I live the same struggle. Thats the stuff the recruiters never tell you.
The only good thing about this is, I'm not alone, and neither are you 💜
I have daydreamed about seeing you perform this on stage, marvelling at the thought that anyone even could. You've surpassed my imagination. The vulnerability was tenfold, watching you face the crowd to courageously sing about something so personal and painful.
Because you do this, we are healing little by little. Thank you, Ren. 🙏❤
I agree 1000%💕
What a beautiful comment
@@LukeFlegg Thank you. I was inspired. ❤
Couldnt agree more. Another 9min (must be the 909min of this track (edit: Studio version) for me tho😅) of somehow collectivly healing thru this art of vulnerability. ❤
Mad respect for the performance. 🔥💯
Give thanx for putting all of this in your words, sharing your journey by "just" beeing the most authentic you.
Insanely inspiring.❤
So happy to see yourself heal as there is so much Focus on you healing others!
Cheers mate 🔥
Was just about to write something like how much courage it must take to perform such a personal song in front of an audience and to share so much vulnerability on stage and how speechless it left me, watching him doing the spoken word part at the end while he faces the crowd… Then I saw your comment. You nailed it! ❤
It’s incredible you got through this live, not only because it’s a marathon of a song, but because it’s so quiet by the end. You’re a true pro not to have all the shuffling distract you. Not a performance for the faint hearted artist. Incredible, as always buddy ❤️
for real, just let him finish the song before clapping in the quiet parts lol. would put me off lol.
The silence and the applause of the audience speaks volumes - this man is changing music history and I’m so glad to be apart of his journey he’s just utterly phenomenal ❤
Exactly!
The line "The more intensly the light shone, the darker the shadow it casts" really hits with me. It's that extreme high and low. Great performance Ren.
Its the pendulum swinging. And it will swing, Sometimes good, sometimes bad. But the harder you try and fight it the harder it will push.
So true....
You are changing the world, one note, one bar, and one heart at a time. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Peace friend.
☝🏼❤️🤜🏼
❤
Amazing! It's a special talent to remember all of those lyrics and not get tongue tied👏👍👌
This is a monster of a song to perform in front of an audience, both technically and emotionally. There's potential for everything to go wrong, I'm mesmerised by how well you did, can't stop repeating it ❤ Doesn't matter how many times I hear/see this piece of art, it genuinely hits deep every time
No matter how many times I hear this song, it never fails to bring me to my knees and reduce me to tears.
I suffer from periods of severe depression, and I have that voice that tries to tear me down and make me doubt myself. That voice that tries to make me hate myself. I understand that Ren suffers from Lyme Disease, and was misdiagnosed and prescribed meds for conditions he didn't have, and that all of that factors into this song as well. But the beauty of this song is that it can speak to so many people, who are going through so many different things, and it can give them hope.
@@Terri_MacKay I can relate heavily with what you said, I deal with similar experiences myself. I've found that many people who go through major mental health struggles, no matter what it is specifically, gravitate toward and are really affected by this song. It's helped so many of us, it's amazing honestly. Ren's body of work in general is a great support system for me personally.
I agree! Ren is just amazing a true legend with so much talent! Love him so much ❤
me personally , bealives there is no chance things will go wrong as long as it is Ren
Considering most "modern" artist screw up the lyrics of their 10 verse songs live, it's quite an accomplishment to do such a long song with zero repeat lyrics
"I have stood in the flames that cremated my brain and didn't once flinch or shake. " that line breaks me every time. Tears. 6:25
The voice change for that section 🥰
Yeah...same
I feel like this one flies under most radars because the rest of the song is so good and other lines have more universal appeal, but this line really speaks to the fever and delirium he went through as the disease ran its course.
Ren, I work in mental health and have helped thousands of veterans recover from their trauma. I am 62 years old and served for 30 years in the Army and i have never heard anything as profound as this song as it outlines the parts of us that traditional therapy would never embrace. It is a shining example of mastery and at such a young age goes beyond all expectations. Your song the money game is also a piece of art that exposes the pigs at the trough. I will definately come to see you perform and i might be an old fart but i cant stop listening to your work. Stay as humble as you appear and it will only go from one inspiraing song to the next. Mick Stott
❤
I agree
You know, in the original version of this song, the Demonic side of Ren sounds like the more confident speaker-as though he’s more certain he’s right. In this performance, the Hopeful side of Ren sounds a little more confident in what he’s saying and he’s sitting up a little straighter. The Demonic side is the one that sounds less sure of himself here. Love both versions, and here’s to all of our Hopeful sides sounding more confident and sitting up a little straighter. 🎉
That's a nice little insight. I agree that the "devil" is less overpowering here. Ren is gaining confidence, and I wonder how pathetic this demon will sound in 10 years.
I must say that this is a great insight, I had a thought during the line "when I am gone I will rise, in the music that I left behind", that it was quite a prophetic line, because now that it has been released, this song will indeed be played for many many years after he has passed on.
Hell yeah
it's that eternally swinging pendulum moving before our eyes... sometimes hope will be louder and sometimes despair, and both are okay.
HOW?! Just... How? How the hell do you perform this live as well as this?! Pure unadulterated genius.
Because he IS THAT, he's no autotune :)
Steroids bro
It is crazy, no doubt. And while still dealing with the after effects of Lyme’s Disease. He is a genius.
No he isn't any of those things. Haven't ya'll figured it out yet??? REN IS AN ALIEN!!!! He comes from a musical planet.
Well the music video was live too, so what’s so hard to belive this is live?
I am a 59 year old music freak! I have never encountered anyone or anything quite like Ren and his music. He's touched my very soul. I thank God for Ren!
I honestly don't know how to do that.
Came across him a couple of years ago , a random feed on my Facebook came up , blew my mind, he is a genius , different, raw ,
Unique, hope he gets to reach the heights he deserves ,
I hope this song will be a turning point in your career. This brought so many new people (me included) in your world, and you deserve it. Many will say "he's talented", and for sure I see talent in your creativity and ideas, but all the rest is hard work, years of introspection, experiences and pain. You didn't waste years of your life, you built the man we're appreciating today. You held on to the rope and now you have something talent can't give. Be proud Ren.
Amen
You said it
Ren is definitely Al creative and talented guy. Words that a lot of us wish we could explain as well as he has!! ❤
What a fantastic comment! 👍
I'll be 74 this month I'm a male fan of Ren and I've watched over 200 reaction videos of this song. I thought I could have some deep-fried zucchini as I was watching this amazing performance. And all I could do was get choked up throughout the whole song every time he hit an epic line in this masterpiece. I could also feel him trying to suppress the stage fright of being on stage performing this theatrical piece for the first time in front of a live audience. Beautiful performance. We Love You Ren.❤❤❤❤❤❤
hello 74
Absolutely agree with you. What an artist he is. With a true soul.
I'm 51 and just starred working on pieces of art to deal with this stuff. This song has helped me push through the most difficult aspects of shadow work. And I'm so thankful for his bravery. It inspired my own.
There seem to be a lot of us older blokes into Ren, going by comments on his videos. I'm 63 myself, and have listened to a lot of different music in my time. He has the capacity to astonish.
I'm a bit younger than you but my mother's is the same age, and I played this for her, and she said thank god British music has talent 😂😂
Omg Ren that was amazing, I just wanted to say from a surviving Violet who found her voice, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for being a beautiful man, thank you for your visceral, emotive and honest music and most of all thank you for your courage, transparency and vulnerability. You are a force of nature and I am totally lost down the rabbit hole. May the sun always shine on your step.❤🤩🤴👏👏👏❤
A surviving Violet......I Love that. I'm one too.......

This song has helped me come to terms with 30 years of mental health struggle and I truly believe this will save my marriage, thank you so much Ren, I'm crying as I write this, you're words have saved a life and I love you for it, thank you so much
This is awesome ❤️
i'm so happy for you
Look up Dr Amen get a SPECT scan on your brain. I’m 36 with Bipolar and married. We’ve been through a lot with me.
Stay strong friend no matter what. Proud of you.
I hope your marriage is still going strong
Hi Ren seems like it would be BRUTAL to perform live, seriously kudos to you man!
Well fuck me, I never know what to do with all these emotions that come up during this song, and the live performance gave me extra chills today. What a legend.
It's amazing how little difference there is between this live preformance and the recorded version. Ren is unbelievable ❤
The other version ain't recorded, it is live it's just not in front of an audience.
@@ryanmalone9434 No, no, I know it's live. I'd still call it recorded though. They had time and space to achieve the result they wanted and could try it few times. Here Ren had none, no second try for any potential shortcoming. And there's almost none.
This is my bohemian rhapsody and goes way beyond music. It is a manifesto and got me through so many though days. Life has been hard, but your story, creativity and sheer authenticity has pulled me through so many times. It is an inspiration for my autistic son who by now knows the lyrics by heart. Thank you Ren.
This young man has lived 1000 years from his struggles and it shows. He is older mentally than any of us could ever be. Thank you Ren for your sacrifice to your body and your craft for our enjoyment to show us we are not the only ones
I love that Ren can always strip down his art to bare bones, and yet still retain its core impact. I feel bad for anyone that had to go on after him! 🙂
Hi Ren. I know I'm only one small voice out here, but I want you to know your music has really resonated with me. I first found you through your release of this song. I don't think I've ever been floored by a piece of music like I was by this song.
Keep making art, keep fighting. I wish you all the best brother.
I think there are many of us 'small voices' who feel exactly the same. I'm in my 60's and haven't felt music this powerful or original since the Sex Pistols disrupted the musical old guard and sent shock waves through the country. I truly believe that this masterpiece will live long into the future.
@@cyclops60I agree - I am in my 60’s too and I cannot remember being moved by an artist like this since I was a young person and heard artists like Cat Stevens and Simon and Garfunkel.
@@Silkytoaster It's great that when you think you've heard it all that something new can still stir up us old timers!
This was waaaayyyyy more than a song…way way way more than a message… thank you sir.. I deal with demons like this everyday..
TRUE
This song is power
For me the best line is "So cower at the man I've become as I sing from the top of my lungs". That's what everyone who is undertaking their own battle should fight for. The unstoppable force you become when you conquer the great darkness that tried to envelope you and come out the other side a total badass who can accomplish anything.
Thank you Ren for being so open and honest about your health struggles. Many of us suffer in silence, not either having the words to describe the roller-coaster of things that can go on inside of someone's mind or just afraid to reach out due to feeling like a burden. Please never change, you are more of an inspiration than you realize.
'My music is really connecting, and the people who find it, respect it'
Yes, yes we do ❤
Hi, Ren. This style of singing, rap or whatever you want to call it has never been my cup of tea. Being a metal consumer, lyrics and meaning has been a huge part of my life to ground myself in the world. What you are doing here is art in its most interactive form and I love every part of it. This song/video/performance alone hits home hard and it's a masterpiece. You're amazing lad!
.
When you loosen the loop on a rope... Thanks ren❤
As a guitarist of 20 years I have to say that this is a challenging piece to play, even more so with the singing and performance on top of it. Very well performed Ren!
“inspire the weak to be strong
And when I am gone, I will rise, in the music that I left behind.”
Thank you for the inspiration. This is greatness, Ren. You’re not “making some progress”, you are already there. Never seen a more attentive audience. Oprah will be calling any day.
I recently watched a reaction (out of many) where the reactor pointed out a line that I apparently missed the first 100 or so times. When he starts singing, "So, Cower at the man I've become", it really hits home, as I see it, he is in his "Angel/God" phase and instead of the man "God" saying "Cower at the God I've become", it's the God, speaking to the "Demon" that he should "Cower" that he is not only God, but man and has the ability to become man. A vulnerable man. that says so much.
Oprah shmoprah, he doesn't need a mediocre mediator to "give their amen"
Please don’t let him in the Claws of PedoOprah !

This song took me about 6 listens to figure out how amazing it was. Hooked now, listen at least once a day somewhere
me too! i knew it was something special the first time i heard it but it took me a few listens to really get into it, now i can't stop putting it on loop, it's both absolutely gorgeous emotionally and message wise and also just goes so hard musically...
Same..
54 year old Aussie here. You ARE a genius. I have loved music ever since I saw AC/DC on countdown in the 70’s 😁. And now I love all genres. But you transcend all genres and are incredibly amazing. Come to Australia soon. ❤❤
I so deeply hope you find yourself in a position to perform live in front of an audience again soon. The energy you have on stage is just amazing.
Just when I got to the point that I could listen to this song without sobbing, Ren does this and I'm a piddling puddle again. I always wondered if it was possible to do this song live and it pack the the same punch as the recorded video. Well, clearly it is. I am amazed as always. Thanks Ren for sharing this song and your limitless talents with we mere mortals. Hugs! 💜💜 🤟✌️🤘
Love the expression ' piddling puddle' 😂
Thank you for putting to words "piddling puddle"! Because that describes me every time I watch/listen to Hi Ren!!!
Yup, me too. Only taken 40 plus listens NOT to cry each time, and just when I thought I was done, this happens. Lol
Did you happen to catch the live performance of "Tale of Jenny & Screech"? I thought the same, NO WAY can this be performed live as good as the video- WRONG! He can do anything he sets his mind to! Cheers!
Over the last few months I've found immense relief, joy and solace in Rens music. He has really moved me. 3 week's ago I buried my nan who was like a mother to me as she raised me while both parents constantly worked. Last week I suffered a week in hospital with pneumonia. Fluid and pus built up in my lungs.
Finally I thought I'd overcome the worst of it. But today I got a letter from the hospital, they've found a growth on one of my lungs and now I've to go back in to the cancer ward as they're worried that's what it could be. I know it's a bit morbid, but I don't really have anyone else to talk to about it.
As I'm only 32, I felt this would be a semi appropriate place to post it as Ren dealt with serious health issues from a young age. Anyway, even if nobody sees this or even responds it's been cathartic to let it out. So thanks to anyone that may respond, and thanks to Ren for bringing me joy in tough times.
So sorry to read this and sending you internet hugs!!!! Keep taking that relief in Rens music.
@@maddynuff2091 Thanks for that. His music really is amazing. Some of the best medicine I've been given yet :)
Thanks for sharing. You sound like a strong person. I hope you find good news from the doctors. I lost my Father a couple of years back. The best way to get over for me was to understand that death is a miracle too and everyone has to go through it. It helps to feel that but still it's hard. You'll get through this because you are strong.
I really know that now, you are back on your feet!
Ren.. you are truly an amazing musician.. cant wait until you sweep the U.S.!! It will happen!! Im 54 years old never in my life has a musician touched my soul like you have.. i wish you all the best ❤
I didn't know how much I needed this song until I heard it. Thank you, Ren for making music that changes minds

This will never get old, NOT EVER MY GUY IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL ARTIST OF OUR GENERATION, LOVE MY BRO 💙
Performing this song live is brave, absolutely crushing it is just god damned awesome!

Truthfully, this hit as hard as the original. A beautiful live performance that hopefully silences the doubters and shows everyone, just what a talented, creative musician you really are.
You will be remembered, REN....so good!
The voice that you hear when you loosen the noose on the rope... Thank you Ren. I fear the day when that voice is silenced. This song helps.
Is this real?
Staggering! This must be an incredibly difficult piece to pull off live, but your audience in the room, and around the entire world was in the palm of your hand. You are a once in a lifetime gift to us all. Thankyou!
Beautiful comment.
He recorded the video version live.
@@DeLarge666 I'm aware of that, but under more controlled circumstances, the opportunity to have three or four shots at it before he got the one he was happy with, and without an audience! With an audience there's no second chance!
@@startingfingerstyle which explains why the live take he opted for was better than this version. Don’t get me wrong it was a fantastic performance and I’m a big fan but let’s not go overboard.
I was holding my breath throughout, nervous as if it was my friend performing. I knew it would be great but still my palms were sweaty. I love this piece of art so much.
Same here
Ren does feel like a friend, doesn't he? Somehow, he's made his way into our hearts and so many of us feel like we know him from up close. I dream of him sometimes, too... Such an amazing human!
Omg I felt silly so I'm glad it wasn't just me! And yes he does feel like a friend.
Haha, same!
For anyone who has struggled with trauma or have merely allowed the dark parts of the ego to take over………Ren just spoke it into existence for us all. Shed light where it needs to be - and created a masterpiece! Brilliant.
Ren is definitely a musical genius! He's so incredibly talented I don't understand how he's so good... Amazing 🤩
I really enjoyed listening to this as a live performance. Thank you for inviting us into your world Ren, it’s very kind of you to do so.
Listening to Ren makes me feel like I’ve been cheated by music all this time. Where was this all my life? I’ve been sorely missing out.
Stage presence, captivating the audience, world class live performance. There are so many words and ways to describe this I’d just say timeless, it will be a long time before this is matched by any of today’s mainstream artist, especially live. Loved it, well done ❤REN
Its a hardcore workout, whenever Ren performs this song.
Props to him.
❤ Ren, you are a brilliant man, and musician. Thank you for doing so much more than just make music - you make a difference. Hope you'll find a way to South Africa someday! (Bring Merch, pretty please!)
This song defines the times better than any other. Ren you truly are leading a Ren-aissance. 🔥✌️❤️
So effin talented and how he slows down and speeds up to catch his breath, the art of rap and playing guitar controlling the flow, THIS GUY IS GIFTED
I'm 51 and I've been through my share of trauma. When I first heard this song I teared up many times throughout. It resonates with, I'm sure, with most people. We've had the struggles from outside and within. The last verse where you express determination is what makes me weep the most. It's commitment, resolution... survival! You will not be defeated. You'll never give up! So I teared up for the struggle (sad) and I teared up from the resolve (happy). Thank you so much for creating a master piece.
Same, I cry whenever I hear it. So much emotion and pain and also hope and love in this song.
💜 Live performances always hit that extra bit harder, and this was a sucker punch to begin with. Thank you so much for sharing it with us who weren't lucky enough to be there in person. Keep fighting the fight boyo, sending cwtches from Wales! 💜
Would love to have seen their faces
Thank you Ren! What a lucky audience to get to see you perform this in person. I wonder how many knew they were witnessing a piece of musical art that would impact so many lives.
Unglaubliche Performance. Ich möchte daran glauben, dass wir alle über uns selbst hinauswachsen können. Lasse Deine inneren Stimmen nie komplett verstummen, sondern halte die Balance. Du bist ein Ganzes. ❤
So you're the one that's just broke my top 10 songs ever list. It used to be filled with the doors soft parade and the smiths and cypress Hill. You've decimated it m8. It's now hi ren, the tale of everyone and everything, sick boi, the hunger. Ffs, you are my top 10 now. Can't believe I'm 50 and I'm being influenced by a younger man like this. You're a fucking gee. I must have listened to this song about 100 times now, I can almost fully recite the lyrics, and even after the 100th time of listening, I still break down at the end. This song is so powerful. I want every single person on the planet to hear this song. I love you Ren.
I thought the studio version was awesome, but i am even more awestruck at this live performance!
The message is even clearer and more powerful.
First song I ever came across from Ren. Such a powerfully moving song. The structure of the song from start to finish is beyond brilliant. Ren is the future of music. Good Luck goes out to all of you that try to catch up with him. Incredible talent. I ❤ Ren.
Just incredible. To perform this masterpiece live takes incredible talent. So pleased to see such a warm reception for you. This song will, without a doubt be the Bohemian Rhapsody of the 2020’s. It’ll take time for the masses to see the wonder. Glad I got here early to enjoy your talent before the world gets a grip! “Respect it”… understatement of the century
Dude words can not describe just how good that live performance was ! Well done Ren!
For 15 years I was misdiagnosed as having psychosomatic mental illness when I actually had an autoimmune disease. It was hell. I never imagined I'd find an artist who not only understands that pain, but lessens it immensely, in such a beautiful and striking way. Thank you, for not only making intensely phenomenal music, but for sharing your story. Stories like ours *need* to be heard. Take care of yourself, dear Ren. You're a treasure of a human being.
This one always knits and unravels my brain simultaneously, somehow. And extra when it's live, it seems.
I can't imagine how incredible it would be to see this live.

Thank you Ren 💥 So proud of you, congratulations
Simply put, amazing and honest and truly appreciated. The way it reaches down into all the dark places and shines the light on them in the best way possible. Eternal thanks, Ren.

Would love to see you live someday, the multi mic setup is really cool
Thank you, Ren, for sharing your gift with the world through "Hi Ren"
Your artistry has made an indelible mark on my life, and for that, I will be forever grateful
The way you pour your heart and soul into every word and every melody is truly inspiring
You deserve all the recognition and success that comes your way
💙
Mind-blowing art. Ren is a musical genius.
The words about the pendulum and the brighter the light the bigger shadow are so true. Brilliant words. My battle is ongoing, trying to steady the pendulum and keep the light steady over head so the shadow is there but not overpowering.
Thanks for your music Ren. ❤
I envy those the were present ... Thank you for everything and every songs Ren, all the best for you!
Hi Ren, your artistry is phenomenal! As a sufferer of mental health issues, your work is immeasurable. It does connect with people and so many people are in awe of your messages and skill of articulating issues that affect so many today. I can't wait to see what you do next. Fight the good fight! ❤ Xx
The most crazy thing is that his live performances usually sound even better than the studio versions. Well done ren!
Let's just take a moment to appreciate how hard it must have been for Rens to relax and soften in order to dance in front of the crowd and those three microphones in their faces. 😅
Brilliant!!!! My eyes are leakin' again and I clapped along with the crowd and gave you a standing ovation from my computer desk! Never gets old and live...!... How special!
Please remember that your songs matter. They have the potential to touch hearts, create conversations, and inspire change. Your voice is a gift, and we are grateful that you've chosen to use it to raise awareness and advocate for mental health.
I don't know if you will ever have a top 10 hit, but this song has made my top 10 favorite songs. I hope I get to see it live some day.
Man I'd do anything to see this song played live
