A handful of people frequently post an earlier version of my comment to various reactions that they copied and pasted verbatim, so if this is a repeat just ignore this comment. I keep editing the information, as needed, and have removed details about Ren that some found to be too personal, such as his full name and D.O.B. All the information here was gathered exclusively from sources Ren personally approved for public release. Ren is a British musician/independent artist/producer, self-taught multi-instrumentalist; originally from Wales. Ren pursued a career in music from an early age. In 2009, while studying music performance at Bath Spa University, Ren began to experience health issues and was struggling to attend his lectures, which eventually caused him to discontinue his studies and return home. In addition, Ren was signed by Sony Records in 2010 and was working on an album when his health deteriorated to the point that he was unable to go on; consequently, his contract with Sony was dissolved. Ren would later relocate to Brighton. Ren's illness often kept him in bed for up to 23 hours daily. Ren was initially misdiagnosed with depression, bipolar disorder, and chronic fatigue syndrome, which led him to experience psychosis and develop PTSD. It would take seven years before a doctor in Belgium finally correctly diagnosed Ren with autoimmunity, Lyme disease, and resulting damage to the brain, organs, joints, and PTSD. Ren eventually underwent stem cell therapy in the United States, which improved his health, but it has not been a cure. Ren is in Calgary, Canada for at least six months (Summer of 2023), undergoing treatments such as IV therapy and other interventions five days a week, as well as surgeries (wisdom tooth removal and cavitation surgery). His Canadian doctor discovered that Ren also developed a condition called Mast Cell Activation Disorder (MCAD), which has affected the myelin sheath in his brain, his thyroid, and adrenals as well as his bones/joints. Hence, Ren is receiving additional treatments for this previously undiagnosed condition. He recently took a break from treatments and returned to the UK to visit family and friends, and to produce some very ambitious musical projects to be released soon. It is so inspirational to watch the affect that Ren's work has on people. Not a specific age group, not one sex over another, not a race or culture, or a specific religion. But rather, the impact that it has on every single person that is introduced to it regardless of their details. It truly is an incredible thing to watch. I have never seen an artist with the ability to have such a deep impact on the lives of such a variety of people the world over. No matter how many people get behind an artist, they always still have a long line-up of haters as well. It seems that Ren haters are few & far between. If you do find one, their probably just trolling, and in truth, are in just as much awe of the sick boi as the rest of us. Oh I wanna be there to see you slide into the Ren rabbit hole! It's magical especially how he collabs with so many amazing artists & oh my gosh The Big Push is so great with all the God given talent that every band member has been gifted! I'm so in love with all of them & the music that we're privileged to enjoy!
I dont want to get his name wrong Judson(?) is it? A classically trained musician with an absolute rock n roll persona. Me thinks there is quite a testimony living inside. Great job gentlemen, as usual.
Ren is his real name. Ren is such a talented individual, he plays electric/bass guitars, piano and other instruments. Ren sings, raps, write his own lyrics, makes his own beats, produces his own music and more. You should check out 'Tales of Jenny and Screech' full version, also, 'How to be me' with Chinchilla. Thanks for the great reaction guys.
I couldn’t take my eyes of this reactor there is something about him, he’s authentic, genuine and commands attention. Beautiful reaction and he caught so much❤️
I had to leave a comment after watching this incredible this reaction. I have been following Ren since “Hi Ren” first came out and have watched dozens and dozens of reactions to this and I have to say, this was the most visually emotional response I have seen. Normally I can spot when the reactor physically falls in love with Ren, and this was no different. I could see the reactor physically evolving with the song. His eyebrows, his breathing, his inclination to not look away. This one felt almost like an instant connection was made by his rapture to the video, “But settle on the ocean floor” and he looked over mouth agape and eyebrows raised, that moment right there… the connection made artist to artist was truly sublime. As many said, and you responded, I am impatiently awaiting the Tales reaction as well as Chalk Outlines. Well done gentleman, well done.
It was good to see someone who appreciated the artful way the song is constructed. I think it's a touch of genius how the rather odd-sounding vocals at the beginning become an epic song of triumph at the end.
HenRi!!! Of course❣️ Whole fabulous reaction🤗🩷 Thank you for sharing. This was my first Ren song last December and I too felt akin to “this is an opera” a theatrical masterpiece. I’m glad knowing there is a fabulous world of REN’s works that await for you to experience 🥰
Loved the reaction!!! This is a true masterpiece and I love seeing people first time reacting to this, specially when they allow themselves to connect emotionally and really value the artistry in Ren. Also loved hearing the perpective of seeing this as an Opera, hadn´t heard that before and coming from a classical musician that´s amazing. Thanks!
That’s an opera, goodness he is so right 🙆♀️I never thought of that. This young man is so gifted& beautiful, an old soul, just like vessel from Sleep Token is. There truly is some amazing talent out there in young people today 🙏❤️
Ren - born Ren Erin Gill (29 March 1990) in Bangor, Wales. He had me taking some time to be distant, taking some time to be still.. .. probably one of the greatest creative forces to come out of the UK ... or anywhere.
This due is the coolest ever, my wife is a pianist with a masters and I’ve never heard a reaction like this, if ya know ya know, and those of us with music in our minds all day every day, know. It’s beautiful it it’s simplest
Great reaction video. This song is hard to put into words. Even after hearing it a few dozen times there always some new detail or emotion that comes through. What Ren did here is truly a masterpiece and is one of the greatest performances ever recorded.
Another emotional dagger would be the story of Jenny and Screech, Freckled Angel, or Chalk Outlines, but be ready for it. Pure musicality, check out some of the covers he's done with The Big Push. Great job guys. Love the reaction!
You could tell by his body language that he got really shook by the lyrics, the emotion of this song punches you in the heart so hard your soul leaves your body.
the first time i heard this a few months ago something snapped in me....and when he stands just that lead in makes me emotional... and then comes the rope verse lyric.... everytime.... there is no one else like him
I’m sure somebody mentioned it in here but his name is Ren Gill. If you are going to do Jenny and Screech’s Tale make sure and do the full version. Also Chalk Outlines Live version is great.
I've always said that this has aspects of musical theater but the fact that you identified it as an Opera was great. All the drama and character development without any of the pretentiousness that people associate with Opera.
I've listened to this song well over 100 times and am known to sing it aloud at work and it still gets me. Ren is a master of his art and has turned his suffering and overcoming adversity into a message of hope and humanity that we so need in the world today. I hope you get a chance to listen to more of his music! It's amazing!
Not only was it amazing as an Opera, the entire video was shot live. There was no "acting" with the audio over it. You can see not only is the guitar plugged in, but on his collar you can see a microphone attached. This is his true sounding voice and instrumental skills. It was also done in one take with multiple cameras set up. Absolutely a masterpiece. And good catch on seeing the lights flicker when the "evil" side is in control and steady on the "good" side. I missed that the first time I heard this song.
That track was a one take video, they had multiple recordings from multiple angles and stitched it together... His videographer Sam is a genius at them. Two other noticeables are Genesis and Murderer, which were also one takes. Although Murderer I believe was with another guy. Check out his busking stuff with his band... Versatile doesn't even cover it.
I LOVE this reaction. I honestly did not think he was going to take it seriously at first. But this is one of a few reactions that actually feels the line “some people know me as the voice that you hear when you loosen the noose on the rope.” I have a playlist for just such reactions, and have added this one. And have subscribed. This was great. Thank you.
I really enjoyed the setup as far as you hand him the phone and get his reaction. I also like the reactions he gives. Great work guys. Subbed as of today. Appreciate you both. #loveeverythingren
Thank you so much for this reacts! I, too, have listened about 8 times to Hi Ren and really enjoyed the reaction of a pianist hearing for the first time! Best Regards,
Also worthy to note that the performance is using multiple cameras and 4 attempts, but it live single take performance production, which he has several of. The details of the video, and your impressions about any symbology have been noted by many, such as the lights flickering in association, etc.
This was wonderful to see - especially the voice/noose line because it's such a powerful line and it's delicious to see a fellow sensitive soul feel the full brunt of that impact like so many of us have. Too many reactors seem to let it slip by, which only means they haven't lived that kind of despair and relief yet. I don't begrudge them of it, but I simply don't connect to those who can't relate. You both can, and so you have my sub for sure. As others have said, it would be wonderful to see you both react to the full version of the Tales of Jenny and Screech for yet another operatic masterpiece. It was done in three parts - each part is recorded live and filmed in a single take. Keep that in mind and lets see you have your mind blown!
I appreciate so much watching another musician just pick this up on the piano. I’ve never been trained but I can do this and I’ve never seen anyone else do it before! Pretty cool!
I've watched Ren's video about 30 times and every time it is like the first time over again. And this was the best reaction to that video (and there are many).
I mean, he had no chance to run away. lol Love how so many of us "mean ol´ bastards", who think they´ve seen and heard it all, get some sort of a reset from this piece.
Yes he is brilliant and transparent in what he's going through and the real struggles with mental illnesses. I am glad that I found his talent on utube by a reaction video by another.
Hi guys! New subscriber here. This is my 3rd video I've watched from you. I have to say that I've watched Hi Ren reactions more than I can count and your reaction is one of my favorites. The true emotion shown to what he says and the vide that he is putting out feels really genuine. Ren is more than a musician, he is an artist. I had never heard it described as a mini opera. It is spot on to describing this masterpiece
This is art of transcendent beauty and an *important* song. Artists often struggle with imposter syndrome. There’s a movie starring Olivia Munn called “Violet” that rings of this and was a transformative experience for me… just as this song also resonates. As a person who’s never been able to escape imposter syndrome and negative self-talk, *realizing* that I can exert the strength that destructive voice questions-strength that I *know* I have-was sooo important. It takes time to push past the negativity-to make your own voice stronger, but if anyone out there is struggling with this, please please please *know* that you can do it. *Know* that I believe in you… but you don’t need me to-just like you don’t need the shroud of doubt that feels first of protection and then as a prison. You are *stronger* than that voice. You are stronger than you can *possibly* know… until you push back with softness or aggression-your choice.
Wonderful watching this with you. I see it anew each time someone discovers it for the first time. It is operatic, that's the best word for it I think. ❤

How can he be expected to do so, when so much of what he produces is so very far ahead of everyone else already?
I love this reaction! I would love to see his reaction to the How to be Me Live with Chinchilla. It's incredible
Good call 😊
Ive heard this song many time and always brings tears to my eyes
Oh I wanna be there to see you slide into the Ren rabbit hole! It's magical especially how he collabs with so many amazing artists & oh my gosh The Big Push is so great with all the God given talent that every band member has been gifted! I'm so in love with all of them & the music that we're privileged to enjoy!
We’re planning to do more soon!
I never cried watching a Hi - Ren reaction until this one. I was very moved by this one. Thank you so much!
Thank you for watching!
I dont want to get his name wrong Judson(?) is it? A classically trained musician with an absolute rock n roll persona.
Me thinks there is quite a testimony living inside.
Great job gentlemen, as usual.
You’re right, it’s Judson. Our southern accents don’t allow us to enunciate very well. 😂
@@Greatmeasures no, no...all good.
Unique name for me. My ear heard fine...its that dang brain of mine 😬
Thank you!
+1 for How to be me (the live edition)
I couldn’t take my eyes of this reactor there is something about him, he’s authentic, genuine and commands attention. Beautiful reaction and he caught so much❤️
Great reaction. You called out my favorite lyric. Gets me every time!
It’s amazing how many first time reactors don’t catch it
So powerful.
Now that is Welsh poetry! What an amazing piece of art! Thank you so much for letting me discover along with you.
Thank you!
It was good to see someone who appreciated the artful way the song is constructed. I think it's a touch of genius how the rather odd-sounding vocals at the beginning become an epic song of triumph at the end.
HenRi!!! Of course❣️
Whole fabulous reaction🤗🩷 Thank you for sharing. This was my first Ren song last December and I too felt akin to “this is an opera” a theatrical masterpiece. I’m glad knowing there is a fabulous world of REN’s works that await for you to experience 🥰
His name is truly Ren Gill.
Loved the reaction.
BEAUTIFUL, pure and profound reaction to Ren's masterpiece......thank you 🥹🙏🏼
Thank you!
Such a creative genius. Truly love this
Loved the reaction!!! Thanks!
Thank you!
That’s an opera, goodness he is so right 🙆♀️I never thought of that.
This young man is so gifted& beautiful, an old soul, just like vessel from Sleep Token is.
There truly is some amazing talent out there in young people today 🙏❤️
The Tale of Jenny and Screech next please! This man needs to know how deep Ren goes.
I’ve asked him to stay away from it so we can get his reaction. Planning to do it soon!
Ren - born Ren Erin Gill (29 March 1990) in Bangor, Wales.
He had me taking some time to be distant, taking some time to be still..
.. probably one of the greatest creative forces to come out of the UK ... or anywhere.
Great reaction! Love to see you react to more of Ren's music he has an extensive catalog of awesome music.. subscribed❤
Thank you! We’ll be doing more soon.
It’s taken this man a lifetime to become an overnight success.
Beautiful, made me cry as it always does when someone reacts to Hi Ren. ♥️
Save The tales Of Jenny And Screech (FULL) and How To Be Me (LIVE) for reactions. You won't regret it.
I’ve asked him to stay away from Jenny and Screech. I’ll have to ask about How to be Me. Thanks!
This due is the coolest ever, my wife is a pianist with a masters and I’ve never heard a reaction like this, if ya know ya know, and those of us with music in our minds all day every day, know. It’s beautiful it it’s simplest
“…those of us with music in our minds all day…” what a beautiful description of “us.” I love it. Thank you for hanging out with us!
How to be Me even better
Oh absolutely Jenny & Screech & Violet!
Great reaction! You should do more Ren.. he is amazing!! Tales of Jenny & Screech!
You could tell by his body language that he got really shook by the lyrics, the emotion of this song punches you in the heart so hard your soul leaves your body.
Love this guy, what a talent and then there is Ren, a world Superstar.
the first time i heard this a few months ago something snapped in me....and when he stands just that lead in makes me emotional... and then comes the rope verse lyric.... everytime.... there is no one else like him
Love how it inspires you to play it on the piano after. Musicians fully understand this need. Great reaction.💕👍🦇
Nice reaction guys. I'm here for more!
Look up the comment from Sinead O'Connor shortly before she pased about Ren. I think her words sum it up perfectly
You gotta do the tales of jenny and screech by Ren. It's another musical artistic masterpiece
I’m sure somebody mentioned it in here but his name is Ren Gill. If you are going to do Jenny and Screech’s Tale make sure and do the full version. Also Chalk Outlines Live version is great.
"He is a Peaky Blinder" - that was my first thought too, when I saw Ren for the first time! :))
I really enjoyed your reaction. I wish I could be a fly on the wall when you check out Rens other stuff and see the breadth of his music.
We’re going to check out more very soon. I asked him to stay away from Jenny and Screech.
Listened to this song so many times, brings me to tears every single time.
It's so touching.
It was fun to see how amazed and speechless you are. ❤
The beauty of this kids art is exactly why we exist. I cry every time I listen, not because its sad but because It's so pure and human.
@@BenBallard13 Also Animal Flow
You should react to the song For Joe, if anything for the piano part of that song. Go down the Ren rabbit hole, you will not be disappointed!
Thank you.
Would you list a few here please? I find so few people who feel that line. Would love to see more.
Thank you for the kind words!
He is amazing...love this reaction guys...thanks
Thanks for watching!
Wow. He he is so talented. I appreciate his words. Reading his story just gives a small glimpse into his life. Chills…
A mini opera.
Such an apt description!
A great reaction! I've watched many reactions to this beautiful piece of art, this was one of the best. Cheers!
Thank you!
LOVE IT thanks for the best react to ren of anyone. wishing u the best.
That was intense ! Great reaction - thank you.
Thank you!
I'm loving this guy on the right. Not sure why but he just resonates with me. More reactions to Ren pleeeease. Love it!
Love you guys. Sending much support to y’all!
I feel all the emotions in this! Ive seen nothing like this! This is Ren! So naturally artistic just being him. 💯 love this! 💯🔥⭐️❤️🇬🇧
Beautiful reaction! But now i would like to hear the piano version 😊 Ren is special, love his music.
I asked him last night if he would be interested in trying to do a piano cover. We’ll see… 🤞
I appreciate so much watching another musician just pick this up on the piano. I’ve never been trained but I can do this and I’ve never seen anyone else do it before! Pretty cool!
I've watched Ren's video about 30 times and every time it is like the first time over again. And this was the best reaction to that video (and there are many).
I think with the videoclip in 3 part "The Story of Jenny & Screech" , you gonna love it. Because it's some kind a Bard's story.
Great reaction, seems entirely honest too. A rarity in the 'reaction community'.
I agree that it’s a rarity. Thank you for the kind words! We’re going to continue to be genuine and authentic.
your buddys reaction is by far my favourite of all the ones i have watched.
I loved this. What an honest reaction! New sub.
I mean, he had no chance to run away. lol Love how so many of us "mean ol´ bastards", who think they´ve seen and heard it all, get some sort of a reset from this piece.
Thank you!
Same 💜
Yes he is brilliant and transparent in what he's going through and the real struggles with mental illnesses. I am glad that I found his talent on utube by a reaction video by another.
Live theatre art piece! It feels like enjoying an entire movie! You are living thru history .. he will be endeared through time!
Your reaction was so enjoyable. So honest. It's completely real. I felt the same way.
You are stronger than you can *possibly* know…
until you push back with softness or aggression-your choice.
Wonderful watching this with you. I see it anew each time someone discovers it for the first time. It is operatic, that's the best word for it I think. ❤
You got a subscribe for this great reaction! Highlighting that amazing verse was great to see, best line in the whole masterpiece and most people slip right by it. Want to see more Ren from you guys now! Keep’em coming!
We will! Thank you!
