What many forget is that Ren earned his stripes as a street performer before he became known to the whole world. Live performance to him is like breathing air. At this stage we should no longer be surprised at his level of mastery... we really just all need to accept that we're dealing with someone that hasn't gotten to where he is through help from a marketing company/labels. He's the real deal. ...and it's his unplugged sessions that prove it to the critics.

I think we have been kinda lucky Downunder due to national radio having an "unearthed" project to find and promote musicians that wouldn't usually have any opportunity to go beyond busking or pub gigs. John Butler spent years busking before becoming known then started his own label to help others. Silverchair never would have gone beyond a few local pub gigs without the help of SBS/ABC. Briggs has done a lot as well. Some sad stories like Tumbleweed back in the 90s though who got screwed over by dodgy contracts. I just wish I'd found Ren years ago.

Shout out to the comp guitarist. Ren is spectacular as always, but the way the accompaniment drifts so far behind the beat and then so ahead of it while being rock solid so Ren can do his thing is absolutely transcendent.

Seriously, the way he takes his own songs and transforms them is some serious alchemy shit. It's rare I hear an acoustic live version of a song that's orginally pretty heavy on background synths and instrumentals and think "That's fuckin sick"

This is soo clever! The shit that Ren can do with his voice is unreal from his cadence, Diction, and all those little inflections he puts into his live performances. He really understands the importance of accentuating certain vowels and putting in bags of character into his vocal delivery. I'm seriously running out of superlatives for this guy! ❤

By continually making changes; whether it's subtle lyric switches, beats, rhythms, instrumentation, flows, scenery (or all of the above), you keep it fresh. I'm always impressed by your ability to create beautify out of chaos, and originality out of conformity. Never ever stop being you Ren. The world needs your artistic creative force!

I was very suicidal when NF dropped the HOPE album and the next day I found Ren. I don’t know 100% but if HOPE didn’t drop when it did and I didn’t find Ren all at the same time I don’t think I’d be typing this right now. Forever grateful to the power of music and Ren and NF in particular. I wish I could give Ren a hug and say thank you for what he’s done for me and I’m sure others.

Gave me the warm and fuzzies that, as a mid-50's man, I truly thought that I'd never hear a true artist again in my life. Ren has broken that notion, and hopefully his influence will coax the latent talent out of younger aspiring artists to be great artist. These young artists can now see that there is no height restriction on the ceiling of creativity, and the world was just waiting for someone like Ren to show them, and lead the way.
