Giant Talon is not upgradeable is the point. You’re stuck with the junk Suntour Air Fork with straight steerer, no internal dropper routing, and non tubeless ready wheels. As a shop owner, those are all things we see new MTBrs come in wanting within first year of riding. When stepping up to a bike like the Highpoint that actually is upgradeable you can invest in a nicer fork, you can put an internal dropper and you can go tubeless. All things not possible on a Talon
The square taper crankset is also a big red flag on the Talon…another $120 upgrade that is standard on the Highpoint creating even more value and reliability. Talon is a sport hardtail intended only for “light” off-road use with its 100mm of travel. It’s a bike we would recommend our customers not go down the path of upgrading becuase of the above stated limitations.
Giant Talon 1at $900. Deore 10 speed, already has an air fork. Great buy. Yes, it has compromises. It is well under $1k.
