- Thought I'd share one of my fondest memories of BOB MAY -The ROBOT from Lost in Space. CHECKOUT this link for my latest LOST IN SPACE project....I am impersonating the robots voice and have recorded CD of the Robot singing! elvisechoe.wix....
I talked with Bob May a few years ago at a con.
He was a great guy to talk to.
With videos like this, he will never be forgotten.
"Danger, Will Robinson"! LOVE IT! My favorite episode of LIS was when the Robinson's robot battled an evil 'bot (I think it was "Robby" from Forbidden Planet).
This tribute to my Daddy warmed my heart, made me laugh, made me cry. You were a good friend and I want to thank you for such a wonderful tribute to him.
Everyone loved the robot so much because of Bob Mays personality comming through, just an incredible person.
Very nice video!
This video brought back fond memories of my childhood.
I'm a 37 year old brazilian guy who grew up watching reruns of Lost in Space, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea etc.
When I was nine or ten I would wacth Lost in Space every morning, before lunch and then go to school.
I too only now got to know how the robot was manipulated. Bob May achieved the impossible: gave this suit a real personality.
Artists like Jonathan Harris and Bob May became a sweet part of my life.
I LOVED that show, and saw every episode every released. Those were the days of the cliff-hanger for sure. I loved that at the end of every episode we were left hanging in suspense until the following week. Dr. Smith was a guy whom one loved to hate, while the Robot was my favorite character.
I grew up watching Lost and Space. Iam Now 53 and when I found out the Robot was not real, I Cryed ! Thank you Mr. May You Are Saddly Missed .
That was amazing! This was my favorite show when I was a kid.
Danger Will Robinson! Danger!
Thank you for posting this Nick! What a great tribute to a wonderful man. The man who made our hero, The Robot, come to life. He will be missed by all of his many fans.
There is no way I’d ever get inside that thing. Kudos to Bob May for pulling it off for so long.
Oh my God!!! I really love that robot. I grew up watching all the Jupiter 2 adventures!!. Beautiful memories..... Thanks!!
I miss Mr. May. We last met in Las Vegas 2006 inside the Hilton during Star Trek's 40th. Very fun tribute Nick......thank you so much for sharing this video with us.
This can only leave great memories for me and I'm 57 years old......t.v. will never be the same....."Thank you MR. BOB MAY.....it will always compute.
You father helped bring so much happiness to millions of people, one of them being me. Thank you for having such a great dad!
THANKS FOR ALL THE KIND COMMENTS! Sorry it took so long to approve them...i havnt gotten notices from youtube to let me know any were waiting. This is my new robot project- I recorded a CD of the robot singing songs from his tv show elvisechoe.wix.com/themaskpit#!robot-phrases/c63v
Seeing this nearly 10 years after it posted is also a pleasant surprise. This is the first I have seen of this Robot since the 60's as a young kid. I never knew until now, that there was someone inside of it! Hahahaha. I thought it was some kind of remote controlled machine. Good old Dr.Smith. He was always screwing sh*t up for the rest of them!
This is my favorite of all the Lost in Space robot videos.
The replica robots are cool but this video shows the agony that went into making the actual special effects on the show.
I think back in my old age how did I do some of the things that I did when I was young?
That is why I got such a kick out of Bob May. 😂🤣😂
The Robot was the best charactor on Lost In Space!
Bob May was my semi pro football coach. His son Marty was on the team as well. We used to hang at the house and play pool. Bob took use to volunteer at the special Olympics and it was fun.
one of my favorite shows that was awesome love that robot
WOW, this was so awesome! I watched this show every day when I got home from school. Best memories ever!
The only Robot with a heart, and we can all thank Dr. Smith :) and Bob May

What a way to honor the work of a wonderful man - thanks for sharing this video !
Bob was my semi pro football coach. His son Marty Jr was on it too. Last I saw him they were living in Granada Hills We would go do special Olympics with him and I had a blast hanging out with the celebs.
I loved lost in space , favourite show as a child, I would run home from school to watch it, I was in love with Will Robinson (Billy mummy). Robot made the show
Bob was great inside the bot as well as outside of the bot.
A most entertaining and and humorous tribute! Nice job playing the robot!
Bob May: "Is my ashtray in there?" He really did smoke and read the paper in there between takes.
SUPER !!!! NO WORDS !!!
Wow that was a wonderful tribute I too didn't know who was in the robot either Rest in peace
outstanding stuff...thank you for sharing this.
You were awesome Nick. Just awesom and I have a B9
Excellent posting........
But Dick Tufeld did the robot's voice. Bob May's acting consisted mainly of waving the robots arms and going forward without hitting anything.
great stuff. thanks..............
Great vid & impressive robot skills. Makes you appreciate how hard it was for Bob May. Cheers.
"You must have needed a job very badly".......ROFL
GREAT STUFF!! Definitely brings back alot of great television memories!
I believe that the original robot is in Paul Allen's collection at the Sci Fi museum in Seattle. They also have several other famous robots, including Gort.
rip Dr. Smith
I remember having "The Robot" as a toy when I was a kid.
yes fun stuff me like seen the B 9 in other TVshow like robby well cant have em all good 4th to all

How Freaking Cool Was That?!! This Is Great...I WOULD'VE Loved To Been There To To Try It Out A See Bob May. Thank You For This; When L.I.S First Hit The Airwaves, I Was 2yrs. old. As With Star Trek...I Loved Lost In Space.!!!
very cool
That guy is a really funny comedian. Bob May was great as well.
Minha série preferida quando criança tenho em Vhs até hoje. Kkkk
Fantastic! I want a robot STAT!
What a fun video.
B9 was and is one of the best robots ever. I wanted one of the limited editions that came out, but could not afford that price tag. For me the best parts of LiS was/is the machinery and robots the the episodes.
This came from Robby the Robot from Forbidden Planet,,one of the classic movies of all time
This B-9 robot came from Lost in Space, the TV show. Robbie was from the 1956 move Forbidden Planet.
I believe you are confusing robots and movies: ROBBY the robot came from THE FORBIDDEN PLANET (1950?).. ROBBY made a guest appearance on lost in Space. ROBOT in LOST IN SPACE the TV Show was specially made for the show. The robot on the movie version was a bastardized blend of the Two robots.
You killed with the robot!
A very cool video! Watching this made me go back to the early 1970's. Thanks for posting it for us to see. Respect from Apache Junction, Arizona.
Great job, excellent video. Good stuff!
I just cant tell you how great this was! Dave
THIS IS AWESOME !!
Thatzzzz cool!
This is the most epic thing on the web. YOU, my paesan are GOLDEN, my deeer boy!
That dummy of Dr. Smith is very funny!
"May, you can't frighten me! I will do whatever I please when it pleases me!"
Thanks-BOB! ~M~
Love it! ;-)
This is great, I feel bad for kids today, they didn't grow up with this kind of TV, what imagination/innovation, all they have is CGI junk.....
That was awesome
Nick, you look different from the beginning of this video vs. getting into the robot. Watching the old reruns I can see why I loved this show as a child. I didn't like Dr. Smith's character at all. It bothers me that there always has to be a villain in all TV shows and movies. "The Day The Earth Stood Still" is one of my favorites too. I loved that Michal Rennie played the "Keeper". It was a perfect role for him!!! By the way, do they ever show who did the voice of the robot? I'm sure that questions is probably answered somewhere on youtube or on the internet!!!! Thanks for your post!!!
I don't want to know your problems..... lmao yay for bob may
Never thought about it before but the robot suit looks VERY uncomfortable.
starsiegeplay lost in space! #a classic #💓that cast! & crew!!!!!! Always! 💓🌎💓#💋💓🌹👧👶👩🌈.
Omg!! Awesome!!!
This was great. Thanks so much.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Well, at least Bob May was a great gentleman.
I had no idea the Dr. Smith robot was gonna talk like a ventriloquist dummy and keep his mouth moving at times when he's not talking lol. Great video, although I cringed at the singing parts.
2:28 Two robots!!! A silver one and another blue one!!! Looks like they were made in the same mold!
I loved the video!
THANK YOU !!. GREAT MEMORIES !!. WISH THEY WOULD MAKE A REMAKE A BIT MORE SERIOUS AND LOTS OF CGI AND ACTION !!. 😁😂👍.
