I heard that Jonathan Harris kept a notepad on his nightstand, and whenever he thought of a good alliterative insult (usually around bedtime) he would write it down for use later on the show.
i never knew the reason smith insulted him was to keep him "down" because dr smith knew the robot was dangerous and might give him away( in harris interview)
Hold on ! If the show was exclusively ‘bout Dr. Smith, it would be negative nonsense, the other positive characters were there to rescue him ! I liked Guy Williams’ character in ‘West of Mars’ where he saved Dr. Smith from his own murderous gunslinging doppelgänger !
Well done , thanks for putting in the work to string this together !! .. I enjoyed every insult hurled at that clinking clanking conglomeration of cacophonous circuits !!! That blinking beeping bubble headed tin can needed to be put in its place .. ;)
I was watching a documentary on TH-cam that featured Jonathan Harris talking about the robot and Harris said when he went to bed, he come up with the different insults to say. I believe it. 😂. One insult I remember is him calling the robot a kackling Cracker Barrel 😂🤣 I think that’s what he called the robot. Ya know, I didn’t like the dr smith in the 1998 movie Lost in Space. Hearing Jonathan Harris say “the pain, the pain” was more convincing than hearing that other actor say it.
@@lisasmith8554 oh I know. I STILL remember insults like “bubble headed booby” and “cackling Cracker Barrel!” 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣 and when smith said them he was SO GOOD at it. The character who played smith in the movie DID NOT have Jonathan’s personality. The other insult that Jonathan said to the robot was “you better mind your manners if you want to keep your friends”
This is great and to watch it in color, when I watched it, it was in glorious black and white, still it was entertaining and full of imagination thankyou for showing.
"Dippety dunce".... I like that one. Only years later I learned what "bellicose" meant. Dr Smith often called the robot a "Bellicose bumpkin", and I always thought it meant "stupid".
Wow...I started watching the Netflix version of this and absolutely hated Dr. Smith because they turned him into an uncharismatic, pure evil with no redeeming qualities woman and now I'm kinda sad because seeing the original...if they had tried to be more faithful to the character, she would have been a reason to keep watching instead of the main reason I never want to watch anything from Lost in Space again. X.X
Totally disagree- Parker Posey's Dorctor Smith was a genius reimagining, and had the show gotten another season or two, I think she would have had a redemption moment
Agreed a less worrisome time, good laughs, and a great show. Just as there was one sergeant Shultz , or inspector Clueseau there will be only one Dr Smith !
I always thought Dr. Smith was a you know what. Looking it up apparently he was a married man quite interesting. I think his character brought a lot to the show
By the time the show reached the second season, the stars were Dr. Smith and the Robot.
Don't forget about Will. 🛸
I heard that Jonathan Harris kept a notepad on his nightstand, and whenever he thought of a good alliterative insult (usually around bedtime) he would write it down for use later on the show.
Yep! Dat poor robot. And the robot was usually the one proved right during the argument 😉🤖
Harris said he actually lost sleep because he would lay there at night thinking of additional insults to use towards the robot.
Heard the same & it was great slapstick-like comedy.
@@strmchsr63
DAT Digital Audio Tape, the type of tapes used by their Robot's computers.
Heard the same, I think that was true
No offence to Gary Oldman or Parker Posey, who are both fine actors, but Jonathan Harris is the best version of Dr. Smith.
nobody can remake this show. waste of time!
Completely agree
They were awful as Doctor Smith, especially on WOKE in Space.
Jonathan was one of the greatest actors in tv history. Rest in peace Jonathan 🙏
He was the best.
🙏🏾
Jonathan was an Absolute Genius....Unbelievably Hysterical. !!!! Loved Him....
"cackling canister!"
You jabbering Jedemiah!
@@JoshBruin77 You miandering minagerie!
"Transisterized troglodyte!"
“You garrulous gargoyle”
@@TheloniousJackson "You transistorized troglodyte"
Lugubrious laggard was my favorite insult. Another great example of using advanced vocabulary. Something no longer available on free TV these days.
I liked "you incompetent idiot". personally.
Closest would have to be Dennis Miller. The things he would say as insults would cause me to go unconscious with laughter!!!😂😂😂
The best time of life back then. 😢. Sure do miss them days 😢
He was absolutely hilarious! An extremely talented actor!
Hardware Hyena! 😂
A master class of insults!
i never knew the reason smith insulted him was to keep him "down" because dr smith knew the robot was dangerous and might give him away( in harris interview)
Babbling Birdbrain!!! 😂👍❤️
One of the best comedy teams of my generation ❤
As a 6 year old in 1987 all I remember is dr smith saying “never fear Zachary smith is here”
almost no repeat insults--he was good. Most repeated is Bubble headed booby
Great compilation! Hilarious how Smith could have so much contempt for the robot. LOL
Smith was just jealous of the robot. Why I don’t know but I I know that the robot won every argument.👍😁
"You sanctimonious scatterbrain!"
0:39
"If you wish to be warm, Dr. Smith, come into my arms"
"I'd rather DIE"
AHHAHSHAHSHASHASHAHSHAHA NAH BUT WHY IS THIS SO FUNNY TO ME
I laughed and had tears in my eyes!
Tin plated hyena and Jabbering Judas 😂😂😂😂
"You quivering quintessence of fear"
It would have been better if the robot came back with a few: “Stick it you Babbling Bug-chaser!” Or: “Drop dead you Malingering Mo!”
Did I imagine "you bituminous bucket of bolts"?
Amorphous aluminum antique.
“Primitive pile of pistons”
Presumptuous Popinjay
THAT was my favorite!
Billy Mumi said that Johnathan Harris often went off script ablibing the insults on the robot.
You must hand it to Dr. Smith, he'd deliver a line like "Pass the salt," in the same exclamatory MFA style of classical acting.
Back on earth, Dr. Smith had a sideline business. He smuggled pilfered paintings from the Louvre.
Did I hear, "You contemptuous bucket of bolts"?
He makes the Grinch look like a teletubby
"Silly sausage" - oh my
'You pusillanimous pipsqueak!" 🤓
Nickel plated nincompoop 😂
Dr. Smith was always my favorite on the show.
Guy williams hired to be the star, by the second season Dr Smith, the boy and the robot pretty much turned guy into a lamp post on the show.
🎉🎉🎉🎉hahahahaha so true
Without dr smith there would have been no show!!!!
Hold on !
If the show was exclusively ‘bout Dr. Smith, it would be negative nonsense, the other
positive characters were there to rescue him !
I liked Guy Williams’ character in ‘West of Mars’ where he saved Dr. Smith from his own murderous gunslinging doppelgänger !
Ferrous Frankenstein lol!! Almost as good as Rusty Rasputin
Two funnymen on tv in the 60s dick York and Jonathan Harris
Oh the pain! The Pain of it All🔥🔥🔥
“Tin plated Snitch.”
What? Did the robot tell the family what he saw Dr. Smith doing with the boys trousers? “Oh dear!” Lmaooo
It would have been awesome if the Robot zapped Dr Smith! ... even robots can take so much! 🤖
You Tin Plated snitch ...❤ !
There will always be only one unique Dr Smith, and that is Jonathan Harris.
Ferrus Frankenstein is the best
Well done , thanks for putting in the work to string this together !! .. I enjoyed every insult hurled at that clinking clanking conglomeration of cacophonous circuits !!! That blinking beeping bubble headed tin can needed to be put in its place .. ;)
Oh yes!
😆🤖
Often wondered the robot wouldn't give back the insults in spades. Dr Smith...you mortal mental misfit.
It still amazes me how spot on Billy West's impression of Jonathan Harris is.
1:45 "Silence you Cackling Canister."🏺
Brilliant - loved it - don't make them like this anymore
"Jabbering Judas" gets my vote.

Could never watch any of the Lost in Space movies. Original cast can't be replaced especially Jonathan Harris

There was no one else who could be Dr Smith than Harris.
One of my favorite shows as a little girl ..... 💕💖💔💓💘
Wonderful! I can watch that trio a million times!
Dippity Dunce. 😂
Non biological blatherskite.
A national treasure.
No one, ever: "Hey you know who this reminds me of? Parker fucking Posey"
Silence you blabbering bucket of spare parts
"Bellicose Bumpkin."....HAHAHA!!!
That man has enriched my life beyond measure lmao!!! Great video!!!!!
I like that scene where the 🤖 takes Dr. Smith by the arm, saying, "which counts you out," implying he isn't human 😆 😆 😆.
This is great and to watch it in color, when I watched it, it was in glorious black and white, still it was entertaining and full of imagination thankyou for showing.
Only the first season was in black & white ..
Dr Smith had fresh clothes for being a castaway on the Jupiter 2
We loved Dr Smith! One of the great TV characters of the 1960s. "Ferrous Frankenstein" Priceless!
Lost In Space became so much about them and Will Robinson in Season 2.
Leaky umbrella can be taped over leaky part or sewed up depending on how it was made. Also it would still block some rain just not as much.
Such a humorous cacophony of insults....I'm laughing so hard!!
That was a blast from the past!
Oh, the pain.
Good one!
I used Love Lost in Space when A kid And laughed so much when Dr Smith insults the robot
The alliterative sneaky Smith, snivelling Smith, selfish Smith, scaredy Smith! 😅
Just about every insult! Brilliant!
Wouldn’t it be great if the Robot turned around one day and told Smith to F off!
"Dippety dunce".... I like that one. Only years later I learned what "bellicose" meant. Dr Smith often called the robot a "Bellicose bumpkin", and I always thought it meant "stupid".
nah he maent "fat"
This brings back so many amazing memories!!
Dr smith is stuck in his own misery take it out on robot he could zap him in a second but ordered
would have been more than 100 now (but died 21 years ago)
This makes me want to watch the show.
Oooofff, you caggling canister. Hmmmph.... You have had *Us* in high dudgeon for the last time.
Automated armorbearer hardly seems like an insult. More like an alliterated observation.
もう、60何年も前のTV映画だよ。懐かしい。ありがとう
Robot got his digs in too.
Had a good laugh when I read the title and saw that the video was 13 minutes long.
I was nearly in tears with laughter watching this!
Be gone, you rolly-polly rowdy!
Awesome Collection of insults
Ludicris Lump indeed!
A great compilation!
Pure Gold!!!
"You dippity dunce" lol

Lmao, I use to play/pretend I was Dr. Smith as a kid, even carried over into real life. Oh the pain of it all
Adle pated Armor bearer was my favorite insult used by Dr Smith towards the robot.
Fantastic.
What a genius
Goodness this is amazing.
Couldn't Dr. Smith serve at least one dinner or dole out the portions? Or is he allergic to aprons the he-man that he is
Great, show
I always thought Dr. Smith was a you know what. Looking it up apparently he was a married man quite interesting. I think his character brought a lot to the show
great ! Thanks,
I could picture it now Avery Bullock would say "quiet man horse" to the robot 😊
WOOOOOOOOW ❤❤❤❤
