I really like the "What I Eat In A Week" videos. They feel more motivated by dinner recipe ideas, instead of an obsessive food culture that you see a lot on TH-cam. Thanks for sharing! I've made many of your recipes since watching your channel
Your food and cooking is what I call "homespun gourmet." I hope that doesn't sound disparaging. I don't mean it to be. Your meals are so simple, but so incredibly well prepared and with simple but quality ingredients.
We make tons of biscuits, I started grating the butter with my cheese grater which makes incorporating the cold butter by hand so much easier. Great recipes and inspiration for winter Lisa!
I don’t know if you’ve been asked this: are you self taught or did you grow up in this type of living? I’ve always wanted to live similarly, but I was born and raised in Philly. I was exposed to this type of living through a colonial field trip as a kid and then just learning what I could at the library. I also just wanted to say that you inspire me to continue making changes to live more “old fashioned” and still use modern conveniences.
I just love love your "what we eat in a week" video's always looking forward to them it gives me so much inspiration for my kitchen...thank you so much!
I really enjoy ALL your videos, especially your “what we eat in a week” meal planning... I would love to be your second pair of hands, just to be in the kitchen learning and watching and savoring everything you prepare... so appetizing and many, many praises to your chosen lifestyle.. Your parents and grandparents must be so very proud of you and your family.. keep the video vlogs coming as we all enjoy watching a day in your life.
Recommendation in your meatball recipe as I’ve made this similar dish for years... instead of chopping onions try grated one onion in the mix.. it distributes better and keep the meatballs from drying out ..🥰..love your recipes !
I finally found a source for raw jersey milk that my system can handle! Crying happy tears of joy. I made butter for myself yesterday. There’s nothing better than real, fresh dairy. I’m excited to give more of your recipes a try.
Love these videos! I know you’ve done videos about the starter but I wish you’d do one from a start to finish. Like when you feed it then what you do after step by step to get to where you can make something like the pizza crust or using the discard to make pancakes.
I was wondering the same. I love cooking too but man I get burnt out. I wonder how she cooks so much from scratch with so many kids. That would be a interesting video!
I just love reading through the comments! These meals look so delish! Wish my husband was a little less picky. He was raised on a farm and won’t have any part of veggies, milk, eggs...well, you get the idea. I eat anything that doesn’t eat me first! I love how you add butternut to many dishes. I got your book delivered yesterday evening! I see a cup of coffee and some serious reading with a winter storm warning in effect! 🥶 This is some serious “me” time! Love you channel, subscribed to your podcast, looking forward to listening while walking, gardening, or sewing! Thank you for how your family serves us all! 🥰🙏🏼
Been using our locally harvested venison for 40 yrs and totally agree it is so useful in a ground form, not just for kids. You would really like having your own home canned black beans, kidneys etc on hand such a time saver. I do a chili starter mix that has black, pinto, kidney and garbanzo beans in in the ratio that I like. Canned and ready to throw into the pot with browned venison and a jar of tomatoes.
I don’t know if you’ve ever touched on this either on TH-cam or your podcast but I love the minimal waste creating when you cook from scratch. I’ve been changing my cooking styling having followed you along for over a year ish and the packaging etc waste is phenomenal with how I was cooking before. Much better for our children’s future environment
I have been watching your videos for a while now and I have been so inspired. I have successfully started my first sourdough starter (I tried 6 months ago and failed). I made a version of your sourdough skillet and my family went crazy for it. It is amazing what quality and healthy ingredients can do!
I started using Thrive Market the last time you promoted them in your video and I have completely fallen in love with them!!! They are perfect for my family's gluten and dairy free diets and their monthly autoship boxes help keep us stocked up with our favorite essentials. Thank you so much for recommending them, it has made our household run so much more smoothly especially during the pandemic when it has been even more difficult to find the staples we need in stores. 😁
I'm so jealous lol I want to be able to stay at home with my young son and have the time to cook and watch him grow and teach him about the LORD. Hopefully someday soon my husband will have a steady job that can afford use this lifestyle. Love your videos so much GOD bless.
Thank you Lisa! You're definitely my favorite you tuber. I'm in love with you simple way of life, you're so an inspiring woman! Love from France. Amandine
Cooking from Scratch: I am an 'at home' mom...I still have 2 of my boys living at home with me and the hubs...they are young 20's....I still cook a homemade meal Monday through Friday, every night...but do order the occasional pizza...weekends are Fend for Yourself! Pre making meatballs for more than one dinner and freezing them for future, is a great idea... my pot pie cheater is a nice fat roasted chicken from Costco...that works too... and I use a bread machine for homemade breads etc....so scratch meals with a hint of chef's helper....is fine too,...it is eating together with my family that is important to me!
Obsessed with your whole slow living vibe!!! 🤍 Thank you for sharing all your from scratch recipes, they are So helpful and inspiring!!! Endless love your way, beautiful soul✨
Thank you so much. These are the best quick, easy, healthy recipes I've seen online in a long time made from things we generally have in our pantries. They all looked delicious and with good variety. I will look into Thrive. I had heard of them, yet feared that they would be too dear.
So wonderful as usual. Just made your date bars for my daughter yesterday. They were so delicious! I added some Greek yogurt on top of mine when they were still a bit warm and it was just HEAVEN 🥰
I love your videos. Just a tip though about your biscuits.... don't twist the jar when cutting the rounds out of the dough....then they will rise higher.....twisting seals the edge so they can't expand. 🤗
I would love to know what some of your favorite food blogs or cookbooks are! You making cooking look so easy and I know there is a lot of editing done for these videos but you just put things together in a very balanced way. Going to check out that chicken pot pie recipe!
I absolutely love your content! Do you feel like you are doing dishes all day? Some days I’m so worn out from all the cooking, I can’t get caught up on the cleaning.
That deep dish pizza tho...oh, my!🤤🤤🤤 I'm sure you must have strong biceps from handling those cast iron pans everyday! 😁 So much love put in all you do, Lisa.💕 Oh...and I saw that cute little hand grab that piece of chicken you dropped on the table. 😉😍😍
Lisa do you find these recipes from family, friends, or come up with them on your own. Cause if these are mostly your creations I will have to beat myself up again cause your creativity is driving me MAD. 😂 You were born in the wrong era sweetie. I’m so so so jealous 🥰
Hi Lisa!! Man all you’re recipes look sooooo good... The chicken pot pie looks awesome.. I can sit a watch your videos all day there so calming and relaxing to me... Thank You very much.... You look beautiful again today in your grey sweater 🥰... Honestly are you a professional model and just not telling us???🤔🤔
Thanks for these wonderful recipes. Sometimes I'm stuck on what to cook and these cooking videos are a big help. Making beef stew tonight! My sourdough stater is doing great, actually added some to my Amish friendship bread starter day 5 came out great. So thankful we have a farm near us that sells their own raw milk and fresh eggs. Do you still have Bessy? Going to make sourdough pizzas Friday night. Blessings 🙏🙏
Watching your videos makes me want to love a simpler life. Dig potatoes out of dirt. Cook from scratch. But I know I’m too lazy and undisciplined for that. So I will continue to watch and live thru your amazing videos lol.
Plz never stop making these videos! Even if it’s the same meals 😂
I thought I was the only one who LOVED them!! Her videos are the best! Her voice is so calming lol
Yes I agree!
Right?! I love these!!

hm, what do you mean obsessive food culture? i'd like to know more.
Your food and cooking is what I call "homespun gourmet." I hope that doesn't sound disparaging. I don't mean it to be. Your meals are so simple, but so incredibly well prepared and with simple but quality ingredients.
Exacely ❤️
We make tons of biscuits, I started grating the butter with my cheese grater which makes incorporating the cold butter by hand so much easier. Great recipes and inspiration for winter Lisa!
But doesn’t that affect the flakiness? I think biscuits are flaky from bigger pieces of fat squished between the layers of flour.
Such a great idea grating the butter. Thanks!
I do that too. Works great!

I have 3 quarts of pickled onions in my fridge. One with rosemary, one with garlic, and one with thyme, delicious!❤️
These videos are so therapeutic. You could cook the same meals over and over again and I could watch them over and over again. Love all the recipes.

It's so amazing that you make nearly everything homemade. Do you ever get sick of cooking/need a break?!
I was wondering the same. I love cooking too but man I get burnt out. I wonder how she cooks so much from scratch with so many kids. That would be a interesting video!
