Jason was a smart guy there's a reason they picked him out of thousands. They picked him over claypool think about that. He had some musical edge over technique and ability to play the tunes.
Jason has such a gift with talking as well as master bass player. I miss him but I want him to heal his shoulders. Jason, as much as I love Rob,,,,,,Jason has part of my heart. I'm sorry that he had to go through 7yrs of pain.. God bless him and his family.. Love and Light
Just listened to Orion with his bass solo from like 92 live. Cliff Burton gets a lot of credit for how good he was, but Jason was amazing best bass solo I've ever heard. It was off the charts cool. Don't mind me just checking some old school Metallica performances live and Jason was an amazing performer. I realize there are a lot of emotions, but i get a little pissed when I hear he wasn't treated right.
Love you brother newsted!!! I’m from Redford mi, I’m a bass player and song writer probly not very good however your riffs brother, the execution, projection ! It runs through my veins man . Hard to explain. Fuck yeah love yuh !!!
Great time listening to Jason. such a wonderful guy to interview. Wish there'd be subtitles for when she asks the questions, she wasn't miked up properly so it's hard to hear what she says.
LOVE JASON NEWSTED MUSIC..LOVE NEWSTED BAND ...NEED MORE NEW NEWSTED MUSIC....SHOULD DO AND JUSTICE FOR ALL WITH THE BASS TURNED UP AND JASON SINGING...OR CALLED IT ** TO LIVE IS TO DIE CD/VINYL**
Interesting trivia- by his own account, Newsted arrived in Phoenix AZ on Halloween then years later played his last gig with F&J on Halloween, moving shortly thereafter. Jason joined Metallica after Cliff died on 9/27. He disclosed that he decided to quit the band during a shooting for VH1 when he was confronted by Hetfield, also on 9/27.
I have always said that even if Newsted (The Band) doesn't go on tour and play live a lot, Jason should STILL be recording and putting out new music. Without a label to finance tours I understand that touring is difficult to do now a days, so him paying for it on his own was a big risk and when you fly your band and gear to Australia for a festival gig but then get cut off the schedule... that's wasted money you won't get back. He needs someone to help him focus his social media presence and establish a platform that is his own. Doing interviews on other platforms is cool, but it is kind of a waste when you don't use that interview to direct the viewers to your own platform and build your own follower base. He could easily do that, and then have his own fan base that he can directly communicate with share his music with as well as create new streams of income. Music, merch, podcast with OTHER musicians.
He's not all that interested in the Internet in general or having a channel in particular. He will probably need people to handle that kind of thing if he wants it, but he could do fine without it.
@ImYourOverlord I guess I am just thinking about articles I've read where he is selling equipment. Is he selling equipment because he doesn't use this equipment anymore? Or is he selling it because he needs the money? If he needs the money, then obviously, he needs to start generating a new source of income. It's not like he needs a huge team to help him do internet stuff... Two or three guys at the most... Is just a video production team that knows youtube. Instead of getting interviewed, he should be conducting the interview with other musicians. Unfortunately, he does not get a whole lot of writing royalties from helping write only 3 Metallica songs in the fifteen years he was with them. Maybe only royalties from album, sales or streams.
@@redpillmafia960 He doesn't need the money. He'll continue to get a little from his former bands that had the most success, and he's still involved in music. He's most likely (don't recall what he's said about it) parting with a lot of gear that he just doesn't use anymore. He leans more toward guitar that bass currently, and he can't physically play the Metallica material he used to. Yeah, a YT channel can be a one-person production. That's how it'll be with me, when I get the time to make and post some videos.
It's a shame they spelt his name wrong on screen at 48:28 & throughout. You'd think that would be the most basic thing to check before you publish an interview with the man smh.
Jason and Cliff will always be Metallica. Considering image was such a part of their music, how they hired a basketball shirt wearing monkey man into the band is beyond me, he still feels like the new guy 20 years later and was better suited to Korn than Metallica, never fit.
Haha! I just basically said that in my comment here...Rob looks like he's always, fresh off the streetball court in the hood....plus he has tried to change anesthesia, and that's mass disrespect to Cliff.... surprised they even allow that 🤬
I'm sorry.. but some of these shots are horrendous. Why did you use some of these angles at the times you did? The editor needs to be fired for sure. Also, as soon as you saw that the light out of the window was blowing Jason out, they should have changed position immediately. Why would you stay in that position for so long? The whole point in having 2 cameras is so you can have a stationary camera A that is always a good and dependable shot, and then a moving camera B so you can do various other angles that you can cut to here and there. Why you would position Jason with a window BEHIND him makes no sense. That is videography/photography 101.
I like listening to Jason in interviews, I feel like I'm smarter after it. I always learn something new
Jason was a smart guy there's a reason they picked him out of thousands. They picked him over claypool think about that. He had some musical edge over technique and ability to play the tunes.
Claypool didnt fit the look... Or style of music.. He had his own sound. @shaneb203

Awesome interview with Jason Newstead, he has so much class and character!
*Newsted, but yeah 🙂
@ Spell check sucks lol
So much love for Jason! Thanks for being awesome!
He was my idol when i was teen..i still do respect him so much and love him
He's the reason I picked up the bass 33+ yrs ago.
His self awareness is impressive.
Thank you Jason! Love you man!!
Thank you Jason !
His memory is insane considering the life he’s lived.
The memory remains…
Because he didn't destroy himself with drugs.
Always loved his general enthusiasm for music. You can really see it when he talks and when he performs.
Just listened to Orion with his bass solo from like 92 live. Cliff Burton gets a lot of credit for how good he was, but Jason was amazing best bass solo I've ever heard. It was off the charts cool.

Newsted is truly amazing. I hate to bring it up but Cliff would be proud. I truly believe that.
Love Jason!!! A true Legend! Jason does have a home here in FL right? Jason if you need a bass player 🙋♂️ lol this was amazing!!
What a great interview. Much love to, Jason. I'd love to sit in with the Chophouse boys for a gig someday :)
Love you brother newsted!!! I’m from Redford mi, I’m a bass player and song writer probly not very good however your riffs brother, the execution, projection ! It runs through my veins man . Hard to explain.
Fuck yeah love yuh !!!
Cool dude I met him & he signed my business card. FYI he plays a light green electric dobro on the road
Mr. Newsted. please release new music, we miss you. Cheers from Turkey 🤘🤘🤘
what a bro))) writes everything he does) Great interview!!!
Great time listening to Jason. such a wonderful guy to interview. Wish there'd be subtitles for when she asks the questions, she wasn't miked up properly so it's hard to hear what she says.
Nice to listen to Jason. Hello from Russia
Greetings from Poland! :)
Fantastic creative process!
Great interview, thank you :)
One of a kind! Thank you, Jason ❤
Great interview
57:27 is that sound his neck turning?
He had a neck surgery, so maybe he has some kind of artificial element in there
Pretty much my favorite musician of all time.
LOVE JASON NEWSTED MUSIC..LOVE NEWSTED BAND ...NEED MORE NEW NEWSTED MUSIC....SHOULD DO AND JUSTICE FOR ALL WITH THE BASS TURNED UP AND JASON SINGING...OR CALLED IT ** TO LIVE IS TO DIE CD/VINYL**
How is the views so low on this

9/27 was my mothers bday.
He knows it's not always, only, ever about the money.
He's exactly right about England 🙂
i would like to know what happened to all of his different basses he played in metallica?..
He still has all of his basses! Some in storage, some at the Chophouse
They were his so he took them
Man Lou Reed is looking good these days
Jason was really probably the smartest guy in Metallica
That's not saying much, considering the rest of the band, with the possible exception of Kirk.
Internet was around back then, but certainly no World Wide Web, and discussion groups and message forums were the thing.
Big like jason , good. Bles for All.
You spelled his name wrong in the video.
What a story.

I did not know that about elvis lol damn...
timestamps dude where are you? 😄
this interview is like 3 or 4 years old I believe
😂😂
00:00 Jason being the awesome guy he is
The end
Dude is such a legend
It's a shame they spelt his name wrong on screen at 48:28 & throughout. You'd think that would be the most basic thing to check before you publish an interview with the man smh.
Jason has the story about A.P. Carter completely wrong. But at least he knows the name.
Jim Root Kirk Hammett Jason Newsread Joey Jordison
Metallica Load
A regular guy from the end of the Baby Boomer generation. Just a couple years older than I am 🙂
James, you fukd up large man! I'd rather have Newkid on bass , that the basketball homie any day!
My favorite Metallica..
is this recent or old?
old. 2021. now he has a long hair again
thanks
Old he has long hair now.
What if you spelled Newsted right, once? I mean it's an interview about Jason and you can't get his name right?
For 1 its not Newstead, its Newsted, get it right man, its disrespectful.
Jason and Cliff will always be Metallica. Considering image was such a part of their music, how they hired a basketball shirt wearing monkey man into the band is beyond me, he still feels like the new guy 20 years later and was better suited to Korn than Metallica, never fit.

Newstead? Newsted
Newkid
You could at least spell Jason's name right! good lord, get a grip
Slightly disappointing to learn that he dropped out of high school.

Old Interview................😂
Screw Metallica
Lmao, you wouldn't even know who Jason was without them. Show some respect.
Just for a goof, on your first release, turn the bass down to zero.
I say turn the drums to zero lol
Mr. Newstead talking to himself about nothing important.
So lame
Great interview
