      Schumacher actually did counter steer, but it looked like counter steering a car that was gripping up plenty which made it look really silly. In that sense Perez did it a little less obvious by actually forcing the car to lose grip on the rear which makes it more difficult to prove this was intentional even if no racing driver looking at that is ever going to believe this was an accident.

    Baffles me that people still dispute this as an 'accident'. No driver would slam on the throttle like that in a low speed corner, they know at this speed and steering angle you will instantly light up the rear tyres and invoke a spin. Watch 100 random onboard laps of Monaco and I doubt you will find a single driver applying anywhere near the same amount of throttle. I don't argue the data, but I do argue the conclusion. In T8, he spikes the throttle to get the car to rotate on exit as a matter of procedure. When the car comes "unstuck" from this, it's because the throttle input exceeded the intended traction from the rear tires. he doesn't turn left, but he essentially zeros the right turn as well, waiting for the tires to regain traction to the road first.
    Counter steering when the car is "unstuck" like that can be successful, but also may be dangerous.
    It's a matter of why the car is behaving how it is. In turn 1, it's because the momentum of the car was so different in the back to the front, "over-rotating", and corrective action would bring the car back into line.
    In turn 8, it's because the tires have temporarily lost traction. When the tires regain grip, if you're counter steering, you're going to clout the wall head on.
    I see what you see, but I don't agree with any conclusion that he meant to crash. He read the situations differently. T1 was a car balance issue, T8 was a tire grip issue.

    • @robertkorn
      @robertkorn วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Your conclusions are incorrect, there is another video with Perez's data through the same corner in the same session. At no point does he ever have anything like that throttle input. There is no other explanation for why he would spike the throttle to 100% mid-corner. Even if we accept your idea that he spiked the throttle to rotate the car, he still would have counter-steered to counteract the excessive rotation. This was intentional.

      1. around 60% throttle BEFORE the apex
      2. he just blipped the throttle like when you're revving your car, can't accelerate anything with that kind of input
      3. F1 driver jumping "a little too hard" on the throttle is like a professional soccer/football player like for example Ronaldo missing the ball when kicking it
      4. the way of handling oversteer is predicting it, if you intend to suddenly launch 600HP into the wheels then your second intent is to counter-steer the moment it's possible
      5. if he predicted the crash then he did it very poorly because counter-steering would still be the better scenario, not doing anything is good for either spinning out at high speed or when you don't want others to crash into you

    I went to a verstappen's monaco pole lap and he starts to accelerate in almost the same exact point as checo, I wouldnt call it a "sudden" or "abnormal" input, its just the point of engaging... it looks abnormal because he lose the car right away and checo gave up the throttle and I like to believe he also gave up counter stearing because at that point he cant recover the car
    I dont think this is staged, you need more evidence, people believe they are f1 know-it-all guys and they are just simracers that want to justify everything on redbull

  • @ChristopherWoods
    @ChristopherWoods 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Remember modern F1 cars are fly by wire, so an issue with a pedal encoder or ECU might cause this problem. I had a spiking pedal on my simrig a while back which required a full teardown and rebuild to fix. And those two things are definitely the same ;) but more seriously, perhaps all cars need pedal cams like FOM trialled with McLaren the other year.

    The T8 turn is a much slower corner. He didn't counter steer because he thought the rear could come all the way around enough and avoid the wall. Wow, people who have never raced should never discuss things they don't truly understand. There have been plenty of suspicious crashes in F1.... even plenty of straight-up intentional ones.... Plenty. Neither of these were.

  • @rdspam

    Crash 3; they would definitely claim, and with some plausibility, that he was just getting on the throttle for the corner exit, but got on too early, and then got back off again trying to save it as the real cut loose, thus creating the spike.
    Rather than a side by side with the other crash I would be much more interested to see a side by side with a normal fast lap where he doesn't crash so we can see just how off of his usual behavior this was.
