Using Gerber suspension original for 7th year now. A boy stole it and misused it, damaged the scissors, made multiple dents on the knife and saw… i still haven’t fixed the scissors but i managed to fix the knives. I think i will get newer suspension this year.
My version of this was pretty tight on the screwdriver side of the tool… i put some oil on the pivots, helped a LITTLE, but the other side is still easier… i assume it will wear in, but i thought mine was slightly defective until i saw yours do the same thing…
I've been using the older version Suspension that you have for a while now and I've got to say it's a fantastic little multi tool the only thing I had to do with it was re file the Phelps's driver it's still going strong been using it today i would recommend it I'll be keeping a close look out for your feedback on this one thanks for sharing this one with us 👍
Thank you, Joe. I lost my Letherman which I had had for 20 years, so I had to buy this Gerber Suspension tool yasterday. I am surprised how well it works in relation to the price.
Thanks for the video. I had the first suspension for years and I broke the blade so today I bought it again. I love it but, the Velcro on the sheath wore out fast on my first one.
Understandable, it’s a very budget tool. So far I can’t say it’s better than my Leathermans, but as a gift, or first multitool for somebody, it’s decent. It’s fun trying out some different stuff
I just bought one from Lowes for $39. I saw one on Amazon for $29 but possibly with a different model number? Not sure if the one on Amazon is exactly the same.
Do you not push up on the unlock slides to pop up the tools? Both my Gerber Flik and Gerber suspension work like this. It makes opening the tools with the nail pull way easier.
Despite the awl and sub file, i would still get it for the price point and tools for hiking. Just not a fan of the awl. I see it function more as a package opener than an awl.
Mine works very well for easy light jobs here at high mountain desert forest plateau hideout NM. Bought leather case as original case is cheap. Love the superior case.
i got one of these and came here just to see what the awl was. surprised thats an awl it really is more of a knife. its also easier to open if you open the phillps halfway , then you can get to the awl easier
and if you have a hard time like me getting the lock mechanism to unlock, you can either use your shirt to get more grip on those things or just partially open another tool on the same side. it releases the lock so you can close the fully opened and previously locked open tool
Depends....I plan to have a multi-tool in every car. THis is a good tool for occasional use at a price point. Im not going to buy the Leatherman Wave or Surge for this purpose.
It's almost one of those tools that makes u go.... "These guys wasted thier time making this?" ...... lol iv had $12 coleman multitoos that are better than gerber stuff.
I've using a MP500 for 30 years....now I bought a new Suspension NXT....the pocket clip so nice....

Thank you Joe for designing the Suspension. Gerber has done a wonderful job bringing this tool,to market.
You’re welcome 😂

Full review is in progress, I’ve had the new tool on me all day 😎

Glad you like it
It’s great for the price, I feel it is unmatched by any other in its price range
@@xlilnetx Now I have been using this « Gerber Suspension tool» for six months and I’m getting more and more satisfied with it.
@@sveinolavlund3072 i really love the scissors on it and the spring loaded pilers. The scissor are in a class of their own

I'm not sure I'd go for the suspension but it's always interesting to see what different multitools include.

cool video brother. I have the same one i love it. thanks for taking the time to put the video together. peace

Different model number? I would avoided that too… just to be safe and get the real thing 👍
The clip sold me as a newcomer to the multi tool world and wanted something affordable.
Looking forward to the review. I love the old Suspension curious to see how the new one does.
Been carrying it today and so far it’s decent. The tools on that one side are still super stiff though 😎

I had never even thought to try that… thanks for that tip 😂
@@inkiron3907 Haha no worries man! Hope it helps!

Hi Jo. Thanks for another interesting vid.
I’m glad you liked it 😁 thanks for commenting
Great review!~ I prefer a belt sheath over the pocket clip. Twice the price of the older" Suspension

Is the pocket clip reversible?
No

I sprayed WD-40 all over it & everything pulls out easy… may want to lubricate it more…
Tuf-Glide spray man.. turns anything into butter and seals the steel. Worth the money. Heat, water.. nothing takes it off.

Thanks 🙏🏾 I’ll check it out… learn something every day
Ok tool overall but pocket clip is weak and bends out of place too easily. Needs to be upgraded with stronger metal.
I agree it needs to be sturdier

They could of made hexagon shaped opening on the handles to turn on fasteners
That’s an interesting idea. The cutouts on this tool are meant to look like a suspensions bridge, according to Gerber
My hands are so big they're awkward in them my brother loves them when he uses them but he wears a xl glove I wear a 2x
Nice
It's a little bit bigger of a tool...
That's what she said!
The can opener can open a can of beans. The bottle opener can’t
The can opener on this tool is awful. I haven’t posted the can opener showdown yet but you’ll see it eventually
Typical Chinese designed & made Gerber, RUBBISH ergonomics & dodgy design.
Depends....I plan to have a multi-tool in every car. THis is a good tool for occasional use at a price point. Im not going to buy the Leatherman Wave or Surge for this purpose.
@@mattdong1 Just buy a secondhand or cheaper model Leatherman. That's what I do 👍

the way you talk about it's features feels like you don't really use those, you just carries them around.
I ended up selling this tool because I didn’t use it enough so you aren’t wrong
