    Love the solver style breakdowns Doug! As a live player I do think there is room for both a solver/mathematical approach as well as an exploitative approach. Perhaps the type of players in the hand (or the type of game) could be what decides what type of analysis you take.

    Perfect mix of what YOU would do vs. the solver. Also like that you let each round play out without commentary THEN you back it up to chime in; it gives us the chance to ponder "what would I do" before listening to your and the solver. Spot on perfect, the nutz of review, commentary, and the nitty gritty. Well done! 👍

    I think the JT turn check frequency is more to do with equity vs bluff balance - checking and seeing a river is more profitable than having to give up some frequency to a turn check raise.

  • @uedvna
    @uedvna ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi @Doug , while the solver is using 86 type hands as bluff some of the time in all 3 streets, it's also giving up some of the time in each. This type of randomization is very hard to implement for people, and most thinking players tend to have no pure giveups in polarized 3 barrel spots once they start bluffing and miss later on. This results in either overbluffing on the river or underbluffing on the flop (or both). If this leak is true for the opponent, does it make sense to call tighter on the flop than optimal and call down all bluff-catchers on the river, as an exploit?

  • @grantgronda4492

    Both, breakdown was very nice!

  • @ticenits1926
    @ticenits1926 ปีที่แล้ว

    I know some live crushers who have begin implementing solver play, obviously difficult in a live setting, regardless they are incredibly frustrating and difficult to play with now. I’d say the biggest takeaway against any poker player including those with solver backgrounds is that you must maintain initiative. The moment you turn into a check/calling line you’ve given up your edge since as you can tell solvers are incredibly aggressive and use absolutely any opportunity to bluff.
    I’ve been trying to think of ways to combat solver strategies, and the only things I’ve come up with our two either play a very trappy style anticipating the solver to just barrel away with multiple overbets, or to simply reduce the SPR such that overbetting is no longer an option, more easily accomplished with flop raising and even flop 3bets for value with made hands, something that is historically counterintuitive and typically representative of a bluff.
