I've trapped a lot of people with this type of hand. Wesley won't fold AA under any circumstances, and that's why he's never going to have what it takes to win the WSOP. This is a cash game, yes, but he would play it identically in a tournament. When your opponent actually concealed QQ or 7-8s, you'll wish you hadn't snapped called just because you have aces.

Wesley snap called because he was sure, and his hand even improved on the river, and his antics of being a nit aren't to be believed, imo. Unless you've seen Wesley in a tournament you shouldn't count him out. He seems pretty smart, reading situations accurately. Not sure why you are bringing up WSOP, anyway, tbh. Edit: I hadn't even seen Wesley's explanation at the end. He said what I said, here, basically... did you see it? I think it's hilarious Francisco calls himself a pro. 15:46 He gives away the weakness of his hand with that resigned sigh and body shift, followed by the facial expression, and THEN he ships it. That was the biggest tell I've ever seen in my life, to the point that if it's the first time I've seen it I'd assume he was acting weak with a monster hand.

Wesley's explanation was on point and he referenced that Francisco is a certain type of player with whom he had history. I think that is the key to how he played the hand. very well done.
Wes's explanation is pretty applicable to anyone in the general pool though. Check raising top pair makes no sense whatsoever because you could always be up against a set or AA. And then to raise the turn and jam the river is just plain awful. Nobody would ever take that line with any high value hand. Fran was basically just bluffing the whole way through trying to force Wes to fold, which is even worse considering you dont need wes to fold when you have TP. You're either way ahead or way behind already.

imo, its pretty clear play with AA with those knows about the opponent. River action is either check or all in and possibly for wesley, either calling allin, or small size bet to checks.
The problem with Francisco is that he has this tell where he resorts to using histrionic behavior in order to sell his story. The HCL commentators thought it was just posturing and that he was ready to fold but the "Pro" was just putting a show, when he would prove the HCL commentators wrong and would pull an all-in bluff. His tell is that he takes a long time to call and is constantly shuffling his chips, faking fixing his mixed dirty stack after putting the big bet(you even wonder why he always has dirty stacks), scratches the back of his neck, then proceed to make these weird faces, before placing a big bet. His face is literally an open book, and I'm not the only one that has said that. At least, 100 chat users from HCL have said the exact same thing. Francisco isn't stupid he knows what bet sizing means, but he is so afraid of getting bluffed, losing a small 2-4% of his stack size to aggression, and looking like you can be pushed around he think resorting to these That $1k bet by Wesley was a way to induce a raise, and to see if Francisco hit a queen. The tendency is for Francisco to check raise the flop, and Wesley knows this about Francisco. The turn is when Francisco little show starts up: His whole charade starts at around 6:20 th-cam.com/video/D2gSZv35KWI/w-d-xo.html He starts taking huge ass breaths, like he is scared or something. Then he looks at his cards one more time, then starts taking chips from his dirty stacks, after that he immediately goes to scratching his neck(this happens all the time he is bluffing, check all his other appearances), then he does this weird face like he doesn't believe Wesley. Plays with the chips on his hand for a bit, then every 5-10 seconds look up at Wesley and stare him down for 1 sec, then put sdown the bet. After he decides to put a re-raise, not only did he waste time appearing like he was having problems calling, he goes for the massive check raise comitting a huge portion of his pot. This whole hand could have been an easily check call Wesley small bets and it would have been an easy 10-12k max pot, with Francisco losing 6k. He would have obtained way more information and would have given Wesley a small pot for his AA by just playing it more passively. Francisco thinks that by putting a world renounce theatrical performance, that he will buy his way out of the pot. Look at how Wesley looked at him when he asked him how much he has, Wesley was shaking his head in discontent. Wesley just wanted to get the hand going. Wesley was not impressed at all by his gimmicks, that is why he snap called the river. He already made up his mind that Francisco was putting up a show.

Fantastic analysis Doug. However. Poker is all about how you play the player. Francisco’s jam there didn’t make too much sense. He’s telling Wesley he is bluffing both the flop and the turn with a 7 or telling Wesley he had a set or Q7 on the flop? It is also important to know he’s playing against Wesley. Francisco’s facial expression and demeanor at the end when the river 7 came out really told Wesley he didn’t know what to do with that river… so he jams and SNAP-CALLED. 😂
Sometimes not all the time maybe 5-10% to balance it. Depends on feel of table like if they open raising often follow by 3 bet. Or ur table image if you look loose u can Just raise. 3 bet with ace looks suspicious most of time to experience player vs new player. I like just calling more in 9 handed then 6 probably.

Fantastic analysis Doug. However. Poker is all about how you play the player. Francisco’s jam there didn’t make too much sense. He’s telling Wesley he is bluffing both the flop and the turn with a 7 or telling Wesley he had a set or Q7 on the flop? It is also important to know he’s playing against Wesley. Francisco’s facial expression and demeanor at the end when the river 7 came out really told Wesley he didn’t know what to do with that river… so he jams and SNAP-CALLED. 😂

Sometimes not all the time maybe 5-10% to balance it. Depends on feel of table like if they open raising often follow by 3 bet. Or ur table image if you look loose u can Just raise. 3 bet with ace looks suspicious most of time to experience player vs new player. I like just calling more in 9 handed then 6 probably.
