    He trains like a beast, and what does Mackey do for fun? Hike up mountains with the weight of two small children on his back. I admire his dedication (psychedelic ‘shrooms, a very large friendly canid, runny bear scat, a new riding buddy named Sucking Watts … my rides are so uneventful). Congrats on those well-earned decals 👍🏻

    Started bingewatching your channel a couple of weeks ago after bruising my knee during a ride. The challenges you take on are insane, your name should be Wacky Macky! On a more serious note, you make me want to pick up mtb again. Sold my mtb a couple of years ago after seriously injuring my elbow in a crash but a colleague is lending me his bike. Looking forward to testing the arm and to more epic Syd&Macky adventure videos!!

    For info, the next time you do vinyl stickers on a bike, use a spray bottle of water with a teaspoon of soap, cover the bike and the vinyl sticker and you can put them on wet which allows you to move them on the frame into place. You the. Use a plastic squeegee to remove the air and water between the sticker and the frame.

    I really enjoyed your Breck Epic Stage Race video's since I was there supporting a friend who was also racing. Macky you are an amazing athlete, down hiller, and climber. Plus its great to see the support you have from your friends and family. In one of your video's you mentioned you run Vittoria Mezcal in the rear and Barzo in the front. What size (width) are you running and air pressure ? Also, you mentioned that you changed the Fork to a Fox 34 SC, 120mm travel ILO 100mm travel for Brek Epic. Did you record the change to your overall bike weight ? Changing the Fork made the head angle 1 degree slacker did you notice any negative impacts ? Handling or the front lifting up on steep climbs when seated. Just asking since I am thinking of the same mod on my Air 9 RDO. Regards, Doug

    • @sydandmacky
      @sydandmacky  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I ran a 2.1 Mezcal XC trail casing on the rear at about 27-28psi and a 2.25 Barzo XC trail casing on the front at about 23psi. The fork felt great. Definitely no negative consequences from the slightly slacker head angle. Overall my bike gained .5 lbs (total weight of 21.17) after putting on the bigger fork and heavier casing tires. Definitely worth it!

    SS hike a biker here, do you use your seat when pushing up? On chunky ups if I am pushing fwd/down on the bars it's seems to make the front wheel dive into rocks and ledges. If I steer with the front hand and push with the rear hand on the saddle the front wheel is light and rolls up over stuff better. When the rear wheels gets to the bump, push more on the front. Like a bunnyhop. Plus it opens your upper body more for breathing and stride length. Or maybe I am crazy?!?

    • @sydandmacky
      @sydandmacky  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I use a variety of methods: both hands on handlebars, one on seat) one on bars, one on top tube/one on bars, pushing with one hand, carrying the bike (I try to avoid this one). I figure the more variety, the better!

    Hey Macky - do you adjust your chain length whenever you change your gearing, or do you just let the wheel get closer/further away from the bb?

    • @sydandmacky
      @sydandmacky  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      With my setup (Niner's Biocentric II BB on the AIR 9 RDO) you can't move the wheel (there are no sliding drops) and it's quite straight forward to adjust the chain tension, so that's what I do after changing gearing.
