Shout out to Syd for being the support crew, aid station boss, mechanic and moral support. I can't wait for you to recover fully from your injury! Awesome job again Macky, you're killing it!
Dude, that's the best ad for a hardtail bike ever! The level of agression that bike took and the jank it rode over, wow! I know Macky really knows what he is doing but, that's an impressive bike as well. Great vid, guys. It's really interesting following you on the race stage by stage. Love from Brazil.
12th overall. Your a beast! I love this channel and glad your back to racing. I love your patreon subscibers. Thank you for making these videos and this channel happen. Great racing series your putting up for viewing. Love seeing the scenes of Syd and Bob helping. Thank you Syd & Macky
Macky, I can't believe how fast you blow down those rocky technical descents! I am so in awe of your fearlessness! An hour on second is super impressive.
Seriously! I've ridden those trails. They are no joke. Especially riding 30-40 miles day after day and on a HARDTAIL! That strength training is paying off. Super inspiring!
Macky is killing it! Come do some east coast races next season. We have a strong SS scene out here. Know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em... always plays in my head when I am forced to hike. Gotta know your limits and be efficient. It's funny when you pass riders in the 50 tooth - err hiker back, coming on the left...clump clump clump.
Man are you ever a great rider!! I sure miss XC!! Only got to race XC for 13 years then got asthma. Then in 2016 had my femur replaced with a titanium rod and the doc said no more cycling. Sure envy you, though I was NEVER as fast as you!! Keep to going!
GET IT MACKEY, been watching for a while and I have never seen you so confident and determined! BOTH of yall are coming out of this COVID mess swinging!
took a gnarly spill on a local trail today, bashed my shoulder pretty good arms a little sore to say the least, practicing for my first xc race next year and i'm glad this happened sooner than later. but im hoping its not a serious injury gonna go to the doctor tomorrow, love the channel didnt realize i wasnt subbed until now
Sick fitness :) Awesome job these riding days. Nice to follow that race. Singlespeed overtaking the tryhard with big cassettes on the climbs. Nice video!
Awesome work Macky! Your training and experience is making the difference. Love seeing you at the front of the pack with all the gear guys! Love/hate this release time! I fall asleep just before its posted (hate) but I get to sit down with my morning coffee each morning with the video (LOVE ❤)
Anytime one of my buddies says you can't descend fast on a HT, I'm going to show them your videos dude. You got some skills Have you ever thought about overlaying your speeds? It'll probably a pain to go back and line them up. Lol
I could very much relate to the tearing a cleat off story. My first trip to Breck the sole of my clip in shoe (and cleat) tore off Descending with only one shoe clipped in is harrowing
Dude. What is wrong with you? This whole thing is above 10k feet. I live at sea level and my body shut down during this race..at 12k feet. Mad props for all that is this.
Questions: 1. How often do you replace the tires over six days? 2. Do you pull maintenance on the bike overnight? 3. After so many races/uses, do you overhaul or retire the bike? 4. Can you use a different bike for each day of the race?
1. Syd swapped my rear tire for the final day as the side knobs were wearing out. 2. Not unless it needs something. Generally just clean and lube the chain and check that everything is working properly. 3. Same as above, maintain anything that needs maintaining and keep riding! 4. Pretty sure that's allowed.
Haven't actually ridden the AIR 9. This one's the AIR 9 RDO (I may have misspoken in the bike check) and I love it. I'm a big fan of carbon (lighter, better power transfer, made to flex in *good* ways, etc) so would definitely recommend it.
i think its safe to say you got SS in the bag..over all? well...you will have to pull out some tricks man..Ive seen crazier things..YOU GOT THIS BUDDY!!
Generally my race HR is in the low to mid 160s when I'm climbing. I think the stats should be visible on my Strava activity (link in description). I admit that I haven't checked them yet 😁
Can't wait for Day 4? Check it out early on Patreon: www.patreon.com/posts/55651407
Thanks Patreon Team for supporting these guys. They really deserve it.

Srsly, one hour?!
At this rate, you'll be able to take a mid-race nap on day 6 and still win comfortably. Good job, you absolute machine!!!
It's soooo nice for me to see Syd pedaling her "analogic" bike. It makes me super happy. Thanks both of you for the content. Cheers from Argentina!

Loving the video. On a single speed just keep telling yourself “it is all downhill except for the climbs”.
That’s what this old man tells myself.
That rocky descent was crazy. The speed is amazing. What a team. Take care, Al
A huge shout out of Thank you's to the Patreons. It makes it possible for me to see Macky and Syd's channel.
Thank you patrons and thank you Syd and Macky.
Macky, your enduro skills really show when you are faster on descents than guys on full sus bikes!
Bob is my favorite
Great job Macky, i kept leaning away from those trees that were coming toward you at break neck speed!!!
You: an animal! Your wife and Father-in-Law are awesome support. Love the video.
Single speed has three gears, sitting, standing and walking, so i have been told...
Beaut of a vid, thanks!!
Love the Bob cam.
OMG, that opening road section into the first climb where you passed about 30 people was awesome. Single speed racing in a nutshell.
Just wait until today's video 😉

another Super Vid, thanks Syd Macky & all U pateron folks

You're an animal Macky. Love it.
Congrats, Macky!
Near top 10 on a single speed is pretty dang impressive. Would be interesting to see how he would have done on a geared bike.
WOW! What a great day!! Exciting to see this race first hand, and it always helps when you have a great "pit" crew. On to Day #4!
GET IT MACKEY, been watching for a while and I have never seen you so confident and determined! BOTH of yall are coming out of this COVID mess swinging!
You are a true badass, Macky.
Another 1st Place SS! AND faster than 300 plus geared racers! This is crazy! Way to go Macky!
Literally gasping watching this 😳
Wow you are amazing! Congratulations
that climbing leading to 19.00 looked "challenging". Well done
It's good to see Syd back on a regular bike and having to ride an e-bike due to injury. Hope the healing continues quickly!

Thank you Patreon supporters! I'm loving this series, great work Syd and Macky!
I became a patron earlier today so I just finished watching day 4. Wow, what a rough stretch of rocks that Mackie conquered!
Welcome!!!
loving this Prespective great job Macky
Good job syd! Keep supporting Mackey
Sick fitness :) Awesome job these riding days. Nice to follow that race. Singlespeed overtaking the tryhard with big cassettes on the climbs. Nice video!
You are a good crew Syd. Macky is a beast.
Loving this race. Thanks for the video. Great riding Mackey. Keep it up!
You know it’s good when you hate that it’s over … keep it up!
Beast!
Shout out to my boy JASON!!! Cheer!
He killed it that week 💪💪
Total beast! Way to go! I’m loving this series
Awesome!
as always Macky is awesomeeeeeee!!!!!
You inspire me to go out and find a climb to suffer on! You guys are easily in my top three MTB channels, can’t wait for the next episode!!!!
Best show on YT this week!Thankmyou both for all of your hard work in providing us mere mortals with your fantastic MTBing dedication!
Smashing it Macky 🤙🏼
Fantastic work on this series! Thanks Patreons!
Great 3rd day Macky! And Syd pedaling for you in the climbs makes it more awesome! 🤙
Awesome, and they had side door as the last downhill, that is one of the best trails in Breck.
Doing awesome!
Congrats! Over an hour lead time!
Awesome work Macky! Your training and experience is making the difference. Love seeing you at the front of the pack with all the gear guys!
Love/hate this release time! I fall asleep just before its posted (hate) but I get to sit down with my morning coffee each morning with the video (LOVE ❤)
Macky... you're a BEAST!!!
"I'm not complaining, I'm just explaining"
The bcbr shout out // Eating Wins Races // 🤙🏻 That got me
😁
Great little series guys. So loving this keep it up.
hell yeah dude!
Love this videos!
💪💪💪💪🥇🏆 Good Luck !! Mate !
Epic ! Can't do that even with my ebike !
I'm sure Ben was thinking the same thing I am watching Macky descend: "Man I need to learn how to descend..."
I like how you always say something to others on the trail. I’m the opposite, not very social. Also breathing harder.
😂
The best way to handle blisters is by applying tuck tape to the inside of the shoe or onto your sock where the blister is
BCBR cameo eating wins races !!
Anytime one of my buddies says you can't descend fast on a HT, I'm going to show them your videos dude. You got some skills

This is making me want to do a race, just not on a SS 😂 Great job!
well done! Wonder how a 3 speed would do, 3 at the crank with 1 at the cog...

@@sydandmacky Would be awesome if Syd would film doing the nightly maintenance for Syd fixes bikes.
my back hurts watching that descent
How are you liking the air 9? Would you recommend the air 9 or the air 9 rdo that carbon?
Haven't actually ridden the AIR 9. This one's the AIR 9 RDO (I may have misspoken in the bike check) and I love it. I'm a big fan of carbon (lighter, better power transfer, made to flex in *good* ways, etc) so would definitely recommend it.
@@sydandmacky Awesome. Im looking into getting one for NICA races. Im currently racing on a trail/enduro bike.
You're gonna be a lot faster on the climbs!!
I watched already on Patreon so I will tell you Macky was awesome!,,, spoiler alert.
Hey Macky! Awesome descending with the hard tail, do you have any insert in the rear tyre? 🔥🔥🔥
Nope.
I love techy descents but, that looks miserable. You're a machine man.
How do you keep your footage soooo steady on those rocky descents? Bike is bouncing around but the video is smooth as with a gimble... amazing!
GoPro Hero 9 stabilization is pretty awesome!
Which “walking shoes” are you using? They look nice! Thank u! I’m thinking of doing breck epic 2022… ;)
They're the PEARL iZUMi X-Alp Elevates: bit.ly/3jYcN6p
Pretty scenery. A shame you can't enjoy it. But since you are an hour ahead, maybe send up a drone?
Damn! Way to go Macky. But you cheated, you had a Syd.
i think its safe to say you got SS in the bag..over all? well...you will have to pull out some tricks man..Ive seen crazier things..YOU GOT THIS BUDDY!!
What is your average heart rate during all of these races? How about during these climbs that you are powering up?
Generally my race HR is in the low to mid 160s when I'm climbing. I think the stats should be visible on my Strava activity (link in description). I admit that I haven't checked them yet 😁
That's such a crazy low number to me. Awesome!
Nice burp haha
Maybe if the other two podium guys lost a little of their hair they could catch you…or maybe not. Bald and single speed. That’s my style too
😂
Why are you able to pass all the geared bikes on steep climbs.
Because they tend to shift into an easier gear and go easier/slower whereas I don't have that option so I stand up and go harder/faster.
I can only assume the 2 dislikes were 2nd and 3rd place.
