Part of the UCI Marathon series, so other races on that kind could be fun.

@@jonm7272 for an FKT it could be supported, although all previous times have been unsupported.

Care to try it again with a Gravel Bike? Seems as though that route is ideally suited for one…

What chain lube did you use? I'd imagine dry lube wouldn't last the entire trip.

I think he did it on a gravel bike as well, it would be slower on an MTB

    • @plainsrider

My mistake just checked he did it on a MTB in 8 hrs 28 mins

@@plainsrider yeh think so he's a nutter 🤣 he done the Nc500 in 3 days. I don't know him very well but think he was 24 hour british champ or something like that

This is so impressive. I did the trans Cambrian last weekend over 3 days and I was ruined. How the hell he did this , I do not know.

Fantastic effort and a beautiful bit of filming. Just a thought though (while recognising that this is GMBN). It looked as though there was nothing in the route that a gravel bike , probably with suspension forks, wouldn’t have done quicker and probably for the most part more comfortably.

It's been done by the same guy on both types and he was quicker on the mountainbike; and he broke the record.
Anyone who does it in a day is both very very fit and blessed with decent genes and a bit of an idiot. Completely misses the point. It was designed to get folks into remote areas to enjoy the scenery and relax. Mind you Matt Page seems decent and self effacing, and at his level rather less of an idiot. It's not really suitable for wannabees, not in one day or even two.

At 13 mins in that is technically the wrong way for TCW! You are meant to ride through the forest with the wind turbines in rather than up the road climb, although I don't blame you for not as it is rather monotonous!
