I was severely traumatized years ago as a teenage, got diagnosed with cptsd. Spent my whole life fighting cptsd. Not until my husband recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 6 years totally clean. Much respect to mother nature the great magic shrooms.

Hey mates! Can you help with the source? I suffer severe anxiety, panic and depression and I usually take prescription medicine, but they don't always help. Where can I find those psilocybin mushrooms? I'm really interested in treating my mental health without Rxs. I live in Australia don't know much about these. I'm so glad they helped you. I can't wait to get them too. Really need a reliable source 🙏

Mushrooms are very medicinal. This is why anybody familiar with psilocybin and any other kind of fungi will tell you, "They are alive." They have a very ancient wisdom. To my experience, all mushrooms have always said, "Pay attention to your life. How you think, how you feel, and what will you do with the information that you always knew, but now are seeing in this point of view." This is why mushrooms are so respected in tribal cultures. This mental health treatment works for me too. Half micro doses do the trick for me. At least a few days at a time with lengthy time in between. Never addictive. Thank you for sharing this point!

I would point out that unless you live alone, someone with ADHD needs evening coverage too. They don't just stop living and interacting with people at the end of their work/school schedule. For example- interacting with family, preparing dinner/grocery shopping and driving!
Edit- I stand corrected. Even IF you live alone! You still need help to take care of yourself, of course, which some with ADHD need stimulants for. Just to live a normal life and take care of themselves.

    • @whitneyw.7919
      @whitneyw.7919 ปีที่แล้ว +12

So you're proposing being high on stimulants 18-24 hours/day? You don't need adderall to socialize, adderall is meant to make your brain have more pleasure and focus on boring, mundane tasks that you're not all that interested in, not to socialize or drive. That's a sign of addiction requiring adderall to socialize.
What makes socializing harder is adderall crash, something to keep in mind

And also not knowing what "neurotypical" is. A lot of adhd people have a misconception that a neurotypical person doesn't have difficulties concentrating if they are not bothered. In reality a minuscule amount of people can work at a constant pace for 6-8 hours. Neurotypicals have difficulties concentrating and all other symptoms that adhders have. Adhd people just have them up to a point it is unmanageable.

I remember the crash showing up as becoming very irritable, very quickly.
Adderall XR would last just long enough to get me through my work day, by then my family had to deal with me in that irritable, withdrawal state. I didn't want that for them.

I'm so excited for you! Being diagnosed and starting medication in my 40's was absolutely life changing! I was so scared to take medication, I waited a few days before I was brave enough. 20 minutes after taking it, it was like my brain came alive. One of the first things I noticed is that I could read a sentence *once* and comprehend what I read, not the "normal" 3 or more times! I thought, "wow, this is what it's like for a neurotypical person?!"
One bit of advice, don't be afraid to tell your doctor if your medicine isn't working, type of med AND dose. One med changed my life, while another did nothing for me. I was diagnosed at age 44 last spring. Been over a yr slowly trying a medicine, a dose and trying to get relief. Changed psychiatrist too. My issue is I don’t want to take when I work in case I have side effects etc and some days off I don’t want to try because some meds made the day ruined and I HAVE to get some stuff done. I am nearly out of options and need to ask for a higher dose of my last choice; Adderall, she tried me on 10 mg. Focalin gave me horrible thumping in right ear like a helicopter. Vyvanse worked somewhat some days. Concerta 36 mg made me more hyper I felt each time! Good luck everyone. After being a SAHM 21+ yrs I need to make progress at work and not be ADHD brained! Management is happy with my performance but it is such an insane struggle and exhausting trying to focus once I am done at work my brain feels like runny useless jello often.

Adderall was great for me…until it wasn’t. I am in no way any type of medical professional, so take this with a grain of salt as everyone will respond differently… But Adderall was giving me SEVERE mood swings. It made me very very anxious and also lost WAY to much weight. I eventually learned I also had undiagnosed Bipolar disorder. My doctor said the adderall was probably compounding my bipolar symptoms and making them WORSE. He switched me to a non-stimulant ADHD med before starting my new bipolar med… but the withdrawal from the Adderall sent me into a DARK suic!dal depression. After being on Adderall for a couple years, coming off of it was the worst. I couldn’t get out of bed for days at a time for about a month.. I wished so hard that I had never started taking it in the first place, because the dark places my mind went to when withdrawing was horrifying. Please consider the negative side effects before taking this drug. It is a miracle drug… but at a cost.

It made my depression and anxiety worse but now all I feel is either filled with dread or just …flat. I need to know how to fix myself after this screwed me & my dopamine up so badly. Although I miss the hyper focus, I would never ever in a million years out myself through those withdrawals again. Hang in there, it does get better🩷 It took me a couple months to feel like I was back to my baseline. If I could offer any advice, when you feel really anxious or depressed, do your best to think about what you’re grateful for in life. Training your brain to “rewire” and replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts takes time but one day you’ll find yourself handling a stressful situation well and it’ll click that all the hard work paid off. You got this!

I wanted to note that one issue with having ADHD and making decisions about how to address is it that everybody seems to have an opinion even when they have little or no knowledge. Also sometimes when they do. I know some folks are anti medicine for many conditions, but the fact that this medicine is often controlled causes people to get all judgey about it. That is just an extra stress in dealing with the problems caused by living with ADHD.

Thankfully there are a few ADHD medications that aren't controlled substances, which for some people actually work better. (Guanfacine, Clonidine, and sometimes Amantadine.) More isn't always better! Many people actually do better on low doses. I've lowered my dose three times now (I've lost weight since starting it). Also my doc did a genetic test to see how fast I metabolize it.
I take Adzenys XR-ODT, same active as Adderall, and it's soooo much smoother. Just 15 mg Adderall-XR gave me headaches, neck tension and hot flashes. Adzenys is also orally dissolving and starts to take effect immediately. But it's a pain in the butt to get in my state and very expensive if you don't use a coupon. There's another orally dissolving one that has three releases for longer coverage as well. I think the long acting is definitely the way to go.

I feel like something that's really important that isn't being touched upon in this video is that THE GENERIC MATTERS.
Teva, the manufacturer of the brand name Adderall, also makes a generic. For me, I was doing amazing. Keeping my house clean, myself clean, working on my art and myself. Then the Adderall shortage happened, and I couldn't have Teva anymore and got switched generics twice. My house became a mess and so did I. I started crashing HARD. Passing out in my computer chair. My doc suggested raising the dose a little so I would stop crashing. The crashing stopped, but now my hands shake on and off and I can't do my art when this happens.
Since the Adderall shortage seems to have resolved, my next refill I will be getting Teva again. I never had horrible shaking or crashes on the Teva. They are not all the same. I'm sure Teva is awful for some people while the one that I don't like is good for them. Everyone is different, trying different generics is worth it.

Have you tried yoga/meditation in the evenings. For me the first 10 min are really hard to quiet my brain and get into it but push through and then it helps relax and wind down for bed. Maybe that would help with your evening routine and the crash. I've found first doing a quicker moving yoga workout and then follow with slow stretching meditation/yoga helps by brain ease into the calmness and helps a lot as long as there are zero interruptions. If people or animals bother me it's all useless and I can't relax so a lot of the time I have to wait until everyone is asleep and the dog is put in the garage for a bit.

My Adderall crash involved Exploding Head Syndrome (EHS) 😅It happened a couple times, but once as I was falling asleep for an afternoon nap, I legit thought someone had wrecked their car into our building because that's sure what I heard, lol. I flew up out of the bed and opened the window, expecting to see it. When I didn't, I was so confused as to why people weren't yelling or running to see what happened.
Thank goodness for TH-cam. I'd watched a video awhile before about EHS and realized that's probably what I was experiencing.
BUT, I also have a paradoxical reaction to all the stimulant ADHD meds, where they all put me to sleep. I don't just mean on coming down. I mean within a few hours of taking it, I can barely keep my eyes open. So that could have something to do with why Adderall gave me that fun side-effect, lol.

You experienced a parasomnia. These events occurring around falling asleep or waking up are common, and they often are related to either medications or sleep deprivation, or both. You may do better with cognitive behavioral strategies for your issues. Few side effects, no surprises, no withdrawal, no paradoxical reactions. Which, BTW, are common in trauma survivors and neurodevelopmental disorders.

Ive been on Adderall since 2002 and struggled for years with what I call "Tolerance Tug-O-war" and finally this year have gotten past the problem by taking Wellbutrin, and 12.5 mg of Ambien extended release just before bedtime.
My daily Adderall regimen is 40mg daily.
I take a 30mg XR in the morning, and in the early afternoon I take a 10mg IR tablet as an afternoon booster.
As dr Marks says here,...TAKE THE MEDICATION AS DIRECTED.
Abusing it WILL lock you into a state of HYPERFOCUS that can cause havoc in your ability to function both mentally AND physically.

I used to take a low instant release first thing in the morning, then a higher XR dose around mid morning. I was working a job that required 14-16 hour days regularly. This method gave me more functioning hours and seemed to ease the crash a little. Of course, the adderall shortage completely messed this balance up. I’m back to crashing whenever I manage to get my adderall at all. It mostly presents as severe fatigue that renders me utterly useless in the evenings, though I’ve experienced the low mood side effect on occasion as well. Plus, headaches.
Focalin is definitely a gentler stimulant. It’s what I was switched to when Adderall was completely unavailable. It actually made me sleepy at first, but I did get more used to it. It’s not as effective, but you also don’t crash as hard.

Vyvanse + Intuniv (guanfacine ER), no more jitters and anxiety and crash. I frankly don't even know how I put up with Adderall for so many years after trying this new drug combo. They also seem to synergize together quite a bit, and the Vyvanse, while at higher dose (70mg) seems to consistently last the entire day, like 16 hours. The guanfacine has had a dramatic and notable effect on my memory. In fact, over the past few months I've actually developed perfect pitch, which is really bewildering to me. My brother, professional music producer and musician, has had this since junior high school, but I never did... Until a few months back, when I realized I could tune my guitar without using a tuner or any reference. I frankly couldn't believe it, and I just felt I had gotten lucky, but yet I have been able to do it over and over again since that time, and the only difference has been guanfacine. Totally true, and while genetics probably played into that a bit, something in the brain has just been tuned up so to speak. Anyway, hope this helps for those who are curious, don't be afraid to bring up any questions or discussions of medications to your healthcare provider. Ultimately, good communication with them is the key to a lot of this stuff.

TL/DR: sometimes a smaller dose works better than a bigger dose
My dr was baffled by the fact that stimulants made me extremely drowsy. She kept telling me the same two things: “it can have a calming effect which might feel like drowsiness” and “it’s probably the crash/comedown” but while these may have been contributing factors, it was almost like a sedative. An hour after taking my pill I would be unable to keep my eyes open.
Then I saw an Andrew Huberman podcast that explained that with stimulants, more does not mean better. Each person responds to a very specific dose. He tells of a 300 lb man whose most effective dose is 2.5 mg of adderall per day! Having recently been bumped to 20mg twice a day, i asked my dr if i could try microdosing. I thought maybe smaller doses at a time would potentially be more effective than bigger doses less frequently.
To my utter surprise and delight, I discovered that 5 mg is my magic dose. I don’t know if i’m a slow metabolizer or what but apparently too much of the drug at a time overwhelmed my system and made me sleepy. Now I have virtually no side effects and all of the effectiveness I was seeking. If you are having similar issues, it might be worth a chat with your dr.

I'm so glad you found the solution was smaller doses and shared that - that could really help a lot of people.
All of them put me to sleep too. Unfortunately, they all put me to sleep at the lowest doses. I'm on several other medications for various conditions though, so it's most likely the combination of how I metabolize them and interactions with those meds. Since I really need those other medications, we had to give up on ADHD meds.

As someone who already had depression, you can only imagine how much worse I got. Extreme hopelessness, irritability beyond belief, unimaginable fatigue. I was not suicidal but I wanted to die. The worst part is that I did not take care of myself or see any doctor for 5 years. As a nurse, I felt like a fraud. Teaching others to care about themselves, but not listening to my own advice. I was finally ready to quit and I came clean with my psychiatrist about the severe abuse. I would never get the drug illegally. I would just take a month’s supply in a little over a week and crash month after month for 5 years. I thought I was going to kill myself and have cardiac arrest from the dosages I was taking. It was long and difficult, but I have recovered. I have been clean for around a year. I just want you to know that it will take a few more months to rewire your brain into making its own dopamine. Honestly, after 6 to 8 months, I felt almost normal. I am 46 years old and have been to every doctor imaginable after neglecting myself for 5 years. I am lucky beyond belief. I am very, very healthy. Third week of Adderall here. The description of the side effects... That's what it was like for me before. About 3/4 into the action part of a project I would hit a "wall". And usually the project would not get finished. I move on to another idea that stimulated me and the process would repeat. But the "wall" must have been a dopamine crash. No meds, no drugs.

I’m the opposite when it comes to adderall and concerta/ritalin. Adderall for me is extremely smooth. The worst I get is a dry mouth and a bit of a headache some days but overall I barely notice it. Ritalin / Concerta gives me insane anxiety and an uncomfortably high heart rate. I’m sure you’d be able to attach a generator to my heart and power a small village

Thanks for this video. I have been taking Vyvanse for a while now, 30mg, and due to Dr. Office/ pharmacy mix up, i was out of my medicine for about a week. The first 2 days i slept. Then i started to notice that i felt much less anxious and that people weren't as annoying as they usually are. I stayed off of the medicine for a couple of weeks, lost my debit card and a couple of other problems like that led me to restart the medicine. The anxiety and headaches came back with a vengeance. So i stopped it again after just a couple of days. I am at a loss about what to do next. Will see my doctor next month but this gives me food for thought.

I started this a month ago after giving Straterra a 6 months try, Vyvanse a week and now Adderall. Adderall is giving me the least amount of side effects with the most amount of benefit. This Euphoria people speak of is odd to me. I don’t feel it. I just do things now. It was just “if I could just do the thing”! Getting the clothes done (hate it) but have to do it. If I don’t then well it creates not only a feeling of failure BUT anxiety and frustration. Sucks when you can’t find that other matching pair of socks then panic sets in because going to be late. Much more to it than that of course. Long story short (late) got me fired first time in my life. I clearly developed from ADHD or a co-morbid anxiety and low grade depression along with it. I was treated for that for 3 decades before seeking a different therapist who brought up ADHD. My daughter has it but thought she got it from her dad. I was pissed when she mentioned ADHD. IT NEVER crossed my mind. Talk with my psych doc what she said, was screened and here I have the diagnosis. Got another therapist and after many sessions I have kept asking “do you really think I have ADHD”. She has said “if your asking me is this an accurate diagnosis then the answer is yes.
Ok, I know this is long but non-linear speaking was a big indicator for therapist. She said I start a point then go off into unnecessary things to finally get back to the point. So, here is where I am going with all this and respond to your post……I believe the professional’s now that I have it. I can’t turn back the clock and see how much more different my life would have turned out if I had known and been treated before. I do believe it is real, I believe it can cause a lot of problems and not allow you to live your best life. If you’re talking to a legit psychiatrist who is recommending you try something then do it. Legal guardrails in place to prevent misuse. Unless you are going to seek it off the street then it shouldn’t be a problem. Listen to the professionals.
Now, having said that you need to make sure this is really impairing your life and happiness. It shouldn’t be “so I can do more”. It shouldn’t be “so I can become better when I already passing”. For me, it’s barely putting me on a “normal functioning level). I take 10mg in the AM, 10mg around noon and 5mg before 6pm. This recommended by therapist because on Vyvanse the dose wasn’t high enough for one but two the downside slope of it made me massive irritable then after it was out I would binge eat. Keeping it going in my system until I take my B/P meds at night keeps me from the negatives of it.
One sad note to tie this up here is I just found out yesterday that my cousin that’s just 4 months apart from me in age that killed herself at age 48 was diagnosed ADHD. This was a few years ago. She had been drinking a while then somewhere along the way gets this diagnosis. She starts Adderall and ran out a month before she shot herself in the head. Her husband had enough of the drinking and changes in her that he divorced her and she did this the first night her daughter had spent the weekend with him. There were signs she was suicidal leading up to it but that was just looking back after the fact. If I were to guess it was she was abusing the prescribed Adderall that’s why she ran out. Plus drinking. Her sister told me she thought she mixed it with another med that caused some changes in her that made her suicidal. I will never know. This isn’t something to play with. Take it seriously, only as prescribed by a physician.

@@KB-tu4zw i can really relate to everything you are saying. Especially the non-linear thinking. I don't think of that as a negative though. Maybe other people do. Ha. But also the feeling of failure in not getting everyday things done. I don't get the euphoria either. And Vyvanse does also give me that irritability at the end of the day when it wears off. I'm still working on it all. I was diagnosed in my 30s and i went through a period of feeling sad about how things might have been different earlier in life if I'd been diagnosed earlier. Now I just kind of feel like everywhere I've been has led me to where and who I am now and that's ok because I don't think I'd want to be anyone else but myself. :)

Thanks you for covering this subject. Since the shortage I have noticed different brands of generic being substituted. Same Name (Rit.) but different company. Big issue for me. Although it says Methephinadate? an entirely different company is making this drug. As a result, the drug may or may not be as effective as the last company.
As a sufferer of ADD and Social Anxiety, the result in this name change Is a quick up for an hour then quickly crashing on and extended release. I am unproductive and distracted by everything but what I am suppose to be doing.
This makes me agitated, unmotivated, disconnected, distracted and sleepy.

    Male, 5’11, Adult.
Took my first Adderall pill 30 minutes ago. The extended release version.
Thing is my pill bottle says “Amphetamine Resin Complex.” There’s zero information on what that even means on online.
The paperwork that came with the medication has TWO different names on it:
    1) Ampetamine Resin Complex XR
    2) Dextroamphetamine/Amphetamine Extended Release
In the appointment a few days ago my physc told me she was prescribing me Adderall XR. I’m confused by all these different names.
Also, my actual pills all say “Lannett.”
So far I don’t feel anything. It’s only 10mg. But can any Psychiatrists explain their thoughts? I have to wait a month to see my doctor again at the VA.

Interesting, never heard that adderall is more potent and potentially has more adverse effects than ritalin. I definitely also experience a very annoying crash for 2-4 hours after XR ritalin. Irratibility, depressive mood, social shutdown, 'fried brain'. Caffeine seems to alleviate the crash a little bit so I tend to drink coffee at 4/5pm.

  • @BBFCCO733
    @BBFCCO733 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Very informative. I have been struggling with mental health issues, I believe at the core was undiagnosed adhd becuase everything was done to suppress this trait and it's made my life hell. I was prescribed Vyvanse and the result was life changing, as if my best self was put forward. However, I felt very anxious (as I have taking anti-depressants in the past-they barely worked for me I ended up getting off them) and felt the dose was maybe a bit high. I am feeling the crash-basically back to what I normally feel without the meds on a daily basis but a bit more intense. I will ask my doctor to consider giving me a gentler medication as you had mentioned, perhaps the methylphenidates at a lower dose would be more appropriate for the time being.

Extended release Adderall only gave me about 3 productive hours a day. Adding an instant-release dose helped a little with the crash, but I still only got about 4 or 5 useful hours total. I wasn't on it long enough to build up a tolerance, but 60 mg total a day wasn't effective. I also felt like the crash was worse after the XR than the IR.
Individual brains can be very idiosyncratic.
I'm doing better on Concerta, about 5 hours from the XR on a good day. If I time the IR booster exactly right, I don't experience the crash--but it's not easy, as that time seems to change a bit from day to day.
Unfortunately, the IR has usually worn off by 4:00pm, which means I'm not able to accomplish much at all after that.
It's very frustrating. I just metabolize it so quickly. I was surprised to hear that some people experience the crash effect even to the next day? That seems bizarre to me. I've been having to supplement my meds with a low dose of caffeine sipped slowly throughout the day.
It's frustrating when I hear someone tell me to "work within my limits" when I absolutely cannot get 8 productive hours out of my day. I metabolize the meds way too fast.

I already take 40 mg of Vyvanse in the morning along with 2 mg of Guanfacine. My doctor added 10 mg of Adderall, to be taken on my really long days, should I take it half way through my shift at work? I go to school, am a mom of five at home from ages 16-2, work at a Children’s Hospital a few nights a week and Starbucks on other mornings. Sounds crazy I know, but I make it work. My days usually go from 6 AM to 11:30 pm.

Is there an ideal time of day when someone on adderall should exercise to achieve the effect you described for the purpose of lessening the comedown? I tend to begin experiencing the comedown on the way home from work between 4-5pm so it’s super tough unless I add a third round of dosing, which just causes other problems like too much appetite suppression and sleep disturbance.

I was given 10mg Adderall. It worked really well for day 1.
The next dose the following day did nothing by amp me up, did nothing for my focus...
I kept trying it, and it was less and less effective each time. After a week, I was totally, uncomfortably dim... I could think, let alone, focus. I discontinued... back to ADHD... scatter brain, but at least I could think.
    I can't imagine daily use...
Ritalin, low dose (5mg), was more compatabile.... but still not as good as none at all.
I eat a good diet, exercise....
Now... lets talk about drug resistant depression.

I'm a minimalist by nature and a mess by ADHD but it's also true that our expectations and desires may be linked to the society expectations especially the industrial/post-industrial society has such high standards for cleanliness, minimalism, tideness, punctuality, relatability on numerous complex boring stuff and so on.
We've been left behind and we'll come back in the post scarcity era but meanwhile we are supposed to stuff ourselves with heavy drugs 24/7.
A certain % of disability recognition would bring so much rationality in the condition but we live in reckless societies unfortunately... So reckless that they have convinced us to be reckless towards ourselves too

Great video. I am glad you are shining light on the effects of withdrawal in the beginning of the video because on TH-cam I find very obscure videos talking about it, whereas you have it down to the point of perfection. It’s so upsetting because as a kid, sometimes you begin to rely on the medication innocently and as you grow to be an adult (I stopped for two years) you see how much of an effect it has on every day to day life.
(Specially, because I am a high-performance athlete that needs to have a very s specific body need) like with via Vance side-effects appetite so much, and when I was half of it for two years, I really struggled with binging. It really changed how I focused, but I did learn how to focus through meditation which is actually really cool..
[[I highly recommend as an ADHD person to use your impulsivity as a gateway to visualisation where all these impulses that you have allow you to see things in your mind in a clear picture]]
Anyways, if you struggle with ADHD, medication with drawl, just know I am here for you, I have experienced it because I wanted to be off my mad because of the emotional whiplash I was getting.
Anyways, this is a bit of a blabber, but I just wanted to share a bit of what I felt

Adderall in the long term is a terrible solution to ADHD tbh
Sadly it’s just the most promising one we have available
But it’s a rollercoaster of ups and downs and the body quickly builds a tolerance to it
