I think we could have made a lot of progress on the treatment or even a cure for tinnitus by this time. I just don't think there is a lot of research going on in this area.

After having TE "Tin Ear" (musician) for over 30 years, I believe the main problem is mostly the muscle that regulates the sound. When my TE is bad, I can feel a pressure in both ears that pulses with any sound pressure level above 40db. When the TE is mild, I feel no pressure at all, unless the ambient sound is at a higher level...over 80db. I can live w/ TE, it's the sound frequencies that it masks that annoy me! Between 2000-4000hz. I can hear well above, and below those freqs.

Soo, are we starting to understand that - really - most tinnitus cases are due to some degree of hearing loss or damage ? I mean, there are still so many audiologists and general practitioners that consider it blantly inexplicable at best, illusory at worst. I guess that's an important step, but that shouldn't come as a surprise either... Damn, research takes time.

That's not what's being said in this video. If you watch the treble health videos with Michael Golenhofen you will learn that tinnitus of the cochlear subtype accounts for less than half of all tinnitus cases. The rest are not related to hearing loss or damage. This video is talking specifically about people who seem to fit the cochlear subtype but don't present with measurable hearing loss in standard tests.

How do I know it’s somatic tinnitus? My tinnitus is a couple of different tones, generally more “lower” pitched (like between 950-2130 Hz.). They are different in each ear and some are in my head. So far no ENT doc has found any lack of hearing. I also have a new C tone whistling in my head… which I think may have started after a single (105 decibel) electronic BEEP for 1 second. Everyone tells me it’s stress though as one BEEP cannot do that. Bleh. I don’t know. I’m … kind of depressed about the new whistling 😔👂

Had drop and recovery of hearing several times. (checked it with audiometry-app)
Noticed: While hearing decreased tinnitus was more quiet.
During recovery it was very loud.

NervGen? So far, they are currently testing it for spinal cord injury but it has been shown in the lab to repair a host of other nerve related illnesses such as retinal neuropathy, MS, Stroke, Alzheimer’s, and peripheral neuropathy. I can’t imagine if it shows efficacy for one nerve injury, it couldn’t treat many others like auditory nerve damage.

Measurable hearing loss especially more than mild h loss will very likely cause a chronic tinnitus like mild to moderate or mild to severe or moderate h loss throughout the audiogram 259 to 8000 will likely cause that but there r ppl who have another of hearing loss throughout the audio gram that don't experience it lucky. I was told by several ent docs that only about 30 to 35 percent t of hearing loss ppl get tinnitus not clearly understood

    • @sandrag8656

Why do some people with heaing loss experience tinnitus and others don't. What makes the difference?
Maybe tinnitus only occours when hearing drops suddenly on a greater scale?
Then this would not help to find a solution. But maybe there are other reasons?

Ok, so there is allways some kind of hearing loss.
    But we can't fix that.
Wo can only wear hearing aids and tinitus maskers that help a bit while using them.
    That's not new.
    New would be:
Fix the hearing loss, so that the brain stops creating tinnitus. Or sth else that stops the brain from creating tinnitus.
I wonder why my brain seems to do this on few days a year by itself, though hearing loss hasn't changed.
Proof for me, that it is possible.
