    Excellent build! Been building for years, and a corner workbench is always the best choice down the road!

    finally someone that builds like me and just uses plywood for the top which is plenty storng and a lot better than gluing 100 2x4 together for price

      That depends what you’re using the bench for :) im a car mechanic and im going to use 3 2x8 togheter. So if I accidently hit the table with a hammer it wont gp through

      Thick particle board works really good also, and It makes for a nice heavy (read stable) workbench! It’s always funny to me to watch people spend a year of their life gluing, clamping, and then routing/planing a truckload of 2x4’s for a worktop! I guess it’s an “elitist” thing! Ha!

    What I learned from seeing a lot of experienced cabinet shops is the importance of having a large( preferably 4X8) center work bench and to cover it with thick stock . Its used to map-out and assemble projects having all around access. Saves a lot of mistakes I have found.Draws all around can hold tools used to assemble and map out.

    My only complaint. The distance from the bottom shelf to the floor leaves an area under all of the benches that will accumulate a lot of dirt and debris. Might be a little hard to clean and make a great place for mice and bugs. I think I would add a toe board.

    Nice design. I did use this for a small workbench and it worked out better than any other approach I've used and I didn't use 'any' brackets, kept the cost down. Thanks for sharing.

    Nice benches ! I too will be making a bench. I am on fence on using 2x4’s or using a 4x4 post for the legs. I like the look of post. I scored some free boxes of laminate flooring that I am going to use for top.

    I've built a few benches is my day. One issue I have experienced a time or two is warpage. When I select the wood, I select only straight boards and when the bench is complete there is no wobble. After a month or so a wobble developes, I end up shimming the legs. There has to be a way to stop this.

    I like how you used Sketchup to design the thing first. How did you get all of your 2x4 dimensions and cut-outs from that design? Is there an automatic way Sketchup does that or did you have to virtually 'disassemble' your design, orient them all the same and add dimensions?

    Just so you know, in my day gliding the wood over the blade (whether table saw, or circular saw) to even it out was called a polish plane.

  • @jbsnarayana4938
    @jbsnarayana4938 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've had the chance to use this table a couple of times now. It's fun to whip out in front of people:) I can see what people are talking about when they say the legs are delicate, but they're design to support a "mostly" vertical load, not be torqued from the side or pushed back into place. If you just let the table open or close on it's own and don't force anything, it works great th-cam.com/users/postUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh Once it's set up, it's pretty solid. My only gripe would probably be related to the clamps provided. They're not the highest quality. They do the job, so no big deal, but they could be better. All in all, pretty cool gadget.

      Looks like a kind of action cam. The image is distorted at the edges by the wide-angle lens. I have the same problem as you, I would like to film building of my workshop. This camera should cost approx. $100-150 (I'm not thinking about GoPro).

      Just that MDF is cheaper than plywood. Once it gets messed up enough I can remove it and replace it.
