Father Gregor is actually weirdly really cool. Normally the priest characters in horror stories are insane, either being elitist and condemning everyone or mistaking the monster for the true god. But Gregor is actually just a genuinely good man who wants to help people. He's a little old fashioned, but I can't help but like the guy.

I like how this show continues showing that Pump and Skid aren't terrible children. They need to be more trusting and a bit overzealous. They want to have fun like any kid does. They're also not stupid; they notice things. They feel like burdens to their parents, which is something a lot of kids feel.
They were never terrible tho

TBF he didn't really do anything but have fun with the kids before being left halfway stuck in a Ouija board for a couple of years in the attic and was unintentionally killed by the kids when he possessed the exterminator to get payback on them for being abandoned.
As a Christian myself, i can definitely say this is one of my favorite episodes by far. It feels so good to see a priest in a horror series that's not insane but a genuinely good man who wants people to be good. I also like the fact the he's not mad at the fact that skid and pump for celebrating Halloween but for actually conjuring a demon. But he also keeps in mind that they are just kids who needed guidance. I love it when a Christian/Priest is finally seen in a possive light. Thank you Sr Pelo
And also,For everyone out there, Christians can celebrate Halloween. You can believe in god and still participate in Halloween fun. It's only sinful if you make that way. It all depends on the person.

@@pikachuthecritic3940 I'm like 99% sure Gregor is Catholic. Even his clothes and the style of Church he resides in are very reminiscent of Catholicism. I'm an Evangelical Christian by comparison, so there's actually a bunch of differences in what we believe. Like "Making yourself right in the Lords eyes". I could be reading into it wrong, but in my mind it points towards Catholicism!
Although I don’t like how quickly he is to judge and I do think he could be a little more understanding of the kids and the adults situation, but no one is perfect of course

As much as I like Lila, on this occasion the priest was absolutely right.

It wasn't just this occasion.
In episode 2, her first reaction to seeing them after a home invasion in the middle of the night was "Hey kids, where ya been?"
In episode 3, she sent Skid to play with Pump when she was too busy trying to call an exterminator for the "rat" she could've dealt with herself.
In episode 5, she let the kids go trick-or-treating completely unsupervised.
And of course, in just about every episode, she has no issues with the two going out alone by themselves at night.

Gotta love how we see both perspectives here. She just wanted to relax this time cause her life has been really stress inducing. Murderers, weirdos, burglars, living dolls lusting for blood... ALL of that. And this time she returns home only to be met with her kid (and Pump) crying and some random priest scolding her for being an irresponsible mother.
That's a huge punch in the gut.
I think father Gregor only assumed certain things (like her drinking regularly which we know isn't the truth).

He genuinely is a good guy and gives skid's mom good critique, her negligence did lead to the boys summoning a demon

Fun Fact: Moloch is a real demonic entity from old Jewish folklore. People used to sacrifice their firstborn children to him by igniting the interior of Moloch's statue/furnace and burning them inside of it. It became such a problem that according to the Bible it came to a point where they had to make a law to stone anyone they found doing this. The fact that Moloch in this animation is a furnace demon is as accurate as it is scary. Happy Spooky Month Everybody :)

Well sorry to sounds like a pessimist but I don’t really think he is gonna come back for a long time (I’m not saying he is dead it’s just that from what happens at the end it’s probably gonna take a lot of time before we see him again,if he is still alive obiously)
Honestly, I felt kinda bad for the Priest after he got that reaction from the kids when he exorcised Molluk back to hell, because they didn’t understand the danger of what Molluk was doing to everyone including themselves and genuinely thought he was their friend. And the Priest didn’t even take their anger personal, he just limped back to his church without even looking for thanks, despite his injuries. He was honestly a great character for real throughout the entire episode. I also like how this episode gave the boys actual character substance with relatable issues such as complicated parent and child dynamics. All in all this episode was a solid 10/10 in my book.

None of them are right, none of them are wrong. Gregor just assumed that Lila was drunk all the time, and thought she left Skid alone in the street, when in reality she left him with Pump's sister (i don't remember her name), and she literally didn't do shit for securing them, she just stood in her room drawing whatever she was drawing, and the fact the spooky kids got out was merely her fault. On the other hand, why the hell is there a Ouija table on Lila's house to start with?

im sorry- but I gotta agree with the priest. Lila hasn’t put much attention towards her child that much through a bunch of episodes. She wouldn’t pay attention with her kid, UNTIL it was too far. The only time she actually *WAS* caught up with her child’s situation, was when she saw the red costume guy across the road. She understood what was up since the *START.*
EDIT: sure, Lila is trying her best, but it’s obvious her best ISN’T good at all. She’s getting *drunk,* she’s not paying *attention,* and she is spending time with her friend instead of her *child.*

I think we also have to look at it from her perspective tho; Skid WANTS to hang out with Pump a lot which is a main reason he's also over at his house, and they're always out and about because they know everyone in that neighborhood and no one has said anything to Lila about Skid's behavior (and you'd think someone like Kevin would) so she'd, like most parents, would assume he's fine. She also leaves Pump's Sister in charge of them to WATCH them, and she's the main one ignoring them even after she was ASKED by Lila to just keep an eye on them knowing how they are (not to mention, Susie saying "oh he stepped outside" when asking about her grandpa 9/10 means he's not far or will be right back) so she has/had good reasons to leave Skid alone (with Pump) most of the episodes.
Not even just this, but the fact this is like the 3-4th time her house has been broken into by Bob and The Burglars; I wouldn't feel safe about my child being around there so the next best thing is his friend's house. She really does try though, she's always there for Skid when things go bad and she doesn't hesitate to protect him so if anything, she's not a negligent mother; she's a stressed the fuck out one and turned to a bad coping mechanism (drinking), and it looked like it genuinely broke her to see Skid think he's apart of the problem.
@@hu7380yeah, and I feel like after this Ep. Lila is going try better and find others healthy ways to beat her negligence and stress issues and try to guide skids, this is a very complex and complicated situation.

I love how kevin doesnt like the kids because they cause a lot of trouble and annoy him for MANY reasons, yet he still wanna protects them. When bob wanted to eat Skid and Pump, he protected them, he seems like he hates them but in reality he cares for their safety. Especially when he said “And why is a old man hanging around kids? Kinda weird :/“.
Kevin actually feeling happy when customers came in to the candy store after using the Holy Water from Father Gregor, is truly the happy ending gift.

Nah tell me why I actually cried bro, this is actually the best episode in terms of crying to. The exorcism was really well done and the way the characters beg for help, AND THEN THE PART WITH THE CHARACTERS TALKING ABOUT THEIR PARENTS AND HOW THEY'D BE LOVED NO MATTER WHAT? Like, this started out so silly, but there's been so much development, and even The Hatzgang are developing I feel like. No joke, but this reminds me of exactly how Eddsworld started out. Like, maybe it was more silly most of the time, but the serious tones that it shifts into is still really nice. Nicely well done, Pelo, and sorry that it took me so long to watch this.

While Father Gregor was rough in his approach, you could really tell he genuinely wanted to help and protect the kids, even if Skid and Pump took the message he was trying to give the wrong way a bit, partially his own fault for being so blunt and unmoving.
He doesn't have the social grace, the demeanor, or tact to talk to kids about this sort of thing in a way that really communicates what he wants to impart. He didn't even realize his guidence was a little too straightforward for ones as well meaning and innocent as Skid and Pump to get fully. Being kids, they thought they needed to be forgiven, else they wouldn't be loved by their parents or that bad things would happen, when all Father Gregor wanted was for them to behave so they wouldn't get hurt or worry their parents. He wanted them to apologize, and move on (words like "forgiveness" are really easy for a kid to latch onto and worry about). Father Gregor knows how sacred the bond between a parent and their child is and cares about it deeply himself and for them, and that's why he, albeit far too rigidly, stayed by their side to try and encourage them to be kinder and to help them build a better understanding of the world. While his approach may not be what works best for Skid and Pump, it was a lesson the kids had to learn eventually.
Also, Lila 100% needed to hear that, and Father Gregor was probably the only one willing to say it so upfront.
I really like Father Gregor and hope to see him again.

I love how, at least from Spooky month 3 and onwards, every character is weirdly...human. The only ones that are agressively cartoonish or unrealistic, aside from the demons and monsters, are skid and pump. Everyone else, albeit with some weird reactions to said monsters, are just people trying to live.

The Father was the MVP of the episode, and it makes me sad how his relationship with Skid and Pump deteriorated with the episode even though he was doing the right thing all the time, even though in the end it sadly seems like he died.

I love Gregor's character depth- all throughout he is both an all-too-serious and judgy old man who is heavy-handed and too strict with the children, but when it comes down to it he very much genuinely cares about them and all his fellow man and is willing to risk his life and tank demon bites to protect the town and do his job. And we see at the end that he gets next to no appreciation for genuinely good advice to Lila. He's not a one-note character you can write off as all good or all bad, but the summation of all his best and worst traits is ultimately that he cares for others and is serious about his faith. Hope to see him resist Eyes's influence later and await rescue
He sounds like the kind of pastor/priest I'd want, not the one I have. He's a bit.. "How do you do fellow kids?" kinda way, which isn't the best when you wanna ask them for advice, because you perceive them to be not as wise (I hope this makes sense)

No seriously Gregor's a great character and an interesting foil to Skid and Pump. Skid and Pump are friendly but easily manipulated to a dangerous degree, while Gregor's extremely strict, but resilient in his faith for the good of everyone. He's honestly the hero this town needs.

I love how Pelo has come full circle. He has constantly been trying to push the envelope of absurdity, and now he's pushed it so far that the most absurd thing he could produce is something more down to earth with a coherent story structure.

Jeez. I found this because I saw one of those "Same voice actor" videos connecting this to The Amazing Digital Circus with Pomni having the same voice as June, and didn't expect to have all the lore in a small town between kids who like Halloween.
Lila is my favorite character and I felt so bad for her at the end there. She's a little reckless, sure, but she clearly loves her kid. Priest ought to cut her some slack
This is the best ep ever the priest tried his best but now the eyes got him now and can’t wait for the next ep that deal with this spider looking creature wow Pelo and his team did really good on this
I love how the series went from being "Lol, scary comedy" to "Lol, I'm a serious series with great character development"

I shed many genuine tears when I was enjoying this heartbreaking and intensely emotional rollercoaster that made me sob for days.
That scene with the illusion of Dexter and his mom hits so hard. It's such an intense moment, it shows Father Gregors resilience so well, and it feels like another reminder that despite Skid and Pump being well meaning kids having fun, their actions have unintentionally ruined lives.
So basically they are a walking disastet

I do love that the church and priest aren’t displayed in a negative light but isn’t portrayed as a perfect place/guy with no flaws. Father Gregor is human and rightfully calls out Lila for not watching her kid. I don’t think Pelo is religious so it’s nice to see him still respect other’s religions. Especially since the church is right, the holy water does work and Father Gregor successfully exorcized moloch multiple times. Good job Pelo, no notes.

I didn't think this series would make me cry but holy cow was this episode just a kick to the chest-
Ultimately depressing episode in my opinion. The last part when Lila hugs Skid is just sad as they start crying. I also feel bad for Pump and Suzie. Their parents are gone/dead because Suzie sees that her granpa had a receipt in his pocket. Which means he actually just bought it and lied that the parensts actually had a gift for Pump and Suzie. Honestly this is my favorite episode out of all. Even though this came out 1 month ago. Keep the series going Pelo! I'm loving it! Also I like Gregor in this episode. (Please forgive me if I mispelled his name) Gregor was like a side character for the past episodes. But now he is the main character in this episode and hes kind of my fsvorite character now.🎉❤
Dude Father Gregor is a badass. I'm so happy you wrote him to be strict and orderly, but not to the point where he becomes a comical asshole. Making him brave and resourceful is something we don't get to see from a lot of religious figures in fiction these days. I'm an agnostic athiest myself, so I don't neccesarily have a horse in this race, but it's just really refreshing to see a fictional priest who isn't comically evil or a total coward.
Alternatively with comedy related or dark medias priests are always reserved or presented as constant child predators or some similar shit.
I'm really glad there's not a single joke about it but instead a single acknowledged concern for kids about priest following them and that's it.
He's literally honest to god priest who actually knows his stuff and actually competent to take on demons despite age with cross and holy water alone and no additional bullshit like a gun.
Kinda reminds me of Faith the Unholy trinity with similar concept of priest taking on demons with cross alone.

Couldn't agree more. As a Muslim myself, it's really cool to see a pastor who's trying to do good for his community. The fact that he's willing to put himself in danger just to keep two stupid kids (no hate to them) is just so cool and refreshing to see. It's really tiring when a pastor is portrayed as a predator or a cult leader. I mean, I get that it's a real problem but not every pastor is like that and I'm glad that Pelo went with this. Hopefully he'll be able to free himself from that demon (forgot the name)

This was a rather depressing episode… For whatever reason, Skid and Pump crying over the death of Moloch, never realizing that Moloch was never their friend or how dangerous the demon was, really hit me hard. Not to mention ending the episode with the implication that Pump’s parents seemingly don’t care about their children, and Lila feeling like an inadequate parent, yeesh, feels bad man…. Great episode, though! Well worth the wait!

I think it implies that the eldritch god is divine? the end card shows the priest flying upwards where the eldritch god is while still holding onto his cross. also he kneeled down in awe infront of it. very interesting honestly.

@@jessesobel7448 its more so implied, especially with pumps blue eyes being a badge of sorts for it, he can see things other people cant, combine that with the odd amount of conveniences that usualy keep them out of harms way after there encounter with eyes, its certainly something to think about, but definitely not proven completely yet

So this episode’s sub theme was definitely parental neglect on both Skid and Pump’s end and as much as I like Lila, I think she needed to hear that from Father Gregor and hopefully she’s gonna prioritize Skid more.
But one thing that I don’t see anyone talking about is how they handled the more “controversial” side of the church and it’s morals. It is refreshing that the priest wasn’t a creep but I’m glad that the episode didn’t shy away from still criticizing how Christianity handles “forgiveness”, how not everyone is going to forgive you, how the mentality that “you should always apologize even when you were the one hurt” can be a harmful mentality to have.
And then there’s the whole mentality that you have to be “good” for your parents to love you. Despite the priest having good intentions, he put it into Skid and Pump’s minds that the way they are now would cause their parents to not love them when it reality, they are (or should be) loved as they are.
And then there’s the whole commentary on priests taking in children and (kinda indoctrinating) them at a young age. I can’t blame some of the towns folk for being skeptical about Father Gregor following Skid and Pump cus….it looks weird lol.
And of course then there’s the SLIGHT demonization of Halloween with that comment on Skid and Pump’s costumes.
So overall, while not a completely terrible person, Father Gregor does still has flaws but I think that makes him a really solid character.
I'm just glad Sr Pelo didn't make the priest the uptight, overly-religious guy that's a common Christian stereotype but that like everyone, we got good things about us just yeah we have flaws

I’m going to admit, i really enjoyed the priest’s character. They did a really good job in writing his character
Good to see how they're handling the complexity of Father Gregor.
I personally think flawed characters are indefinitely more interesting than ones without any major flaws.
Father Gregor was raised in a different environment and comes from an older different generation of people, so his view on the world is going to differ heavily from others. He's got strengths in some areas and flaws in others, which makes him feel very believable!
My grandfather was a Catholic Bishop before he passed and it was always interesting hearing how he viewed the world.
While obviously not a 1:1 Father Gregor still reminds me of him at times, especially when he tried to give advice for Skid and Pump at the start.
