    Thanks for the video! The freezer method got me about 3 minutes. The hair dryer method got me 20 min, which allowed me to get all my files. Thanks again!

    Hair dryer worked. Thank you so much. I found that if you heat it up every 1:30 for 20 seconds it works best. I advise that you stop after you see the notification that says the phone is beginning to overheat. Hope this helps someone.

    Thank you for posting this. My G4 entered the dreaded bootloop on July 6, 2017, just 10 days shy of the 2-year anniversary of my purchase. I used the hair dryer method and it worked long enough for me to do two separate and complete backups of the phone. Thanks again!

    My G4 died on me today, but I had not heard of the boot loop issue until now as I had not had a problem with my G4 over the past year (I'm nearing the one year mark). Fortunately I found your video, but I was not as lucky to have the fix work for 6 hours straight. However, the heat trick DID get me about 5 minutes at a stretch for a few times. That was long enough to do an LG Backup, export contacts, and move all the photos/videos and stuff to an SD card. Thanks for posting the video.

    Tried the freezer method and that didn't work for me.
    However, the hair dryer did! Thank you so much for coming up with a way to reignite the phone without needing to unscrew the back and potentially void the warranty.
    Just did a backup of all the files I need, and now I can confidently wipe the device and send it to LG for a replacement.
    Cheers!!

    Just ran into this problem and came across your fix. Took me a couple of tries as well, but in the end the heat method definitely worked. Phone stayed on for around 15 minutes which was enough time for me to back-up everything I needed. Thank you so much!

      Abel Espino right, it actually didn't entirely work for me. I got a new phone. But I heated it up till it was burning to touch, but it's pretty bearable. I counted exactly 45s-1min.

    Thank you for this video!!! This worked on my LG G3. Freezing method worked but only stayed on for a couple seconds. Hair Dryer method worked like a charm, it stayed on for about 40 minutes which was more than enough time to transfer everything to my SD card! Can't thank you enough!

    This is the second LG V10 I have had that suffered from the bootloader issue. While there are other videos demonstrating the freezing technique, yours is the one I saw first and was most helpful.
    I tried the hairdryer a few times but that didn't work.
    Then I tried putting it in the freezer for an hour at a time, always making sure to put my phone into a ziplock bag and squeezing all the air out beforehand to make sure no way moisture will get inside. It was still under warranty and I did not want the moisture indicator inside to turn red, voiding my warranty.
    The freezing process was definitely helpful as it was booting up more consistently but still not turning on correctly, so I left it in the freezer for 6 hours.
    that finally did the trick as it stayed on for 6 hours in normal operating mode. I was able to upload all my photos and videos into my micro SD card. I had also researched the apps that would allow me to save all my text messages, and used one of those. finally, I used the LG backup app and made a copy of everything in my phone, including all the apps that I have. I had just finished this one before dying again, but the next day when I picked up my warranty phone from the T-Mobile store, I was able to restore everything to just about what it was before.
    Thank you for posting this helpful video, you really saved me! Now I'm going to try this on the first LG V10 that I had where this happened.

      Thanks for posting your comments and how you did it because somewhere down the line, I am sure those comments/steps would be helpful to other people. I just traded in my newer LG G4 as it has started to develop the bootloop symptoms like heating up, slowing down, and eating up more battery usage...etc I am glad that you were able to download and save all of your data.

      john doe Nope, squeeze out all the air from the Ziploc bag before sealing it. If there is no air, no moisture.

      If you let it warm up it defeats the purpose of freezing it, but it's your call.

      Hair dryer did not work for me, the phone did not even switch on anymore. I put it into zip bag and then into freezer (without battery) for 1.30 min, got it working for minute or two, got only 46 photos out. Then I tried again for 2 minutes in the freezer (w/o battery) and put the phone into fridge but it started bootloop after aprox 2 min. Then I put it into freezer for 2 minutes, took out, put the battery in, switched on, connected to my laptop and put it back into freezer (still in zip bag). Got everything out (almost 7 GB of data), thank god :) ! Phone died again when reached ~room temperature. THANK YOU!

    HOLY CRAP!! I did not think it would work!! I tried blow drying the processor, then I did an iron on the processor and it worked for a little bit. I tried the iron over and over again no luck! I saw this video, busted out my blow dryer and ban after like 1 min it started loading!! That was amazing!! Thanks so much for the hack!!!

    Update: I tested the freezing method first, and I was somewhat successful. It did go past the booting screen, but it only lasted a few seconds. I then tested the hair dryer method, and it worked the second time I heated it up. It's currently still on, and it's been four hours. I don't expect it to be on for much longer. I was able to backup the data on my phone to the SD card I was given for Christmas. I'm about to go to T-Mobile for my replacement. Hopefully they still take it back even though I managed to revive it with a hair dryer for some good hours.

    • @fayloyan
      @fayloyan  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for reporting back. I am glad that the hair dryer method worked for you and enabled you to back up all of your data. Your situation seems similar to mine, so I guess the phone would not last much longer. No worries (for the most part), T-Mobile will take your phone back, if not, LG would take it back as it is part of the "deal". Good luck and take care!

      Hello, I am from France and sorry for my poor English, i am encountering the same problem I tried the freezer method it doesn't work, I even kept my phone for like two hours but no luck , so im about to try the heat method but before I'd like to ask, will it harm the phone? my phone is still under warranty (2 years warranty in France) if I try this method and bring the phone to the repair center will they find that I heated the phone and refuse to repair my phone ? they have replaced your phone? or they find out that you heated the phone?I'm waiting for replays THANK YOU.

    • @alienatedanakin8095
      @alienatedanakin8095 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nathan Drake I feared the same thing too, but heating the phone for the minute and 20 seconds doesn't harm it! Of course it's going to make the cooling grease really work, but I'm sure your carrier will replace your phone either way. It's a defective model, so they have to replace it for you despite what you do to it. However, I would go to your carrier FIRST before you do this to ensure that they're going to replace it. Bonne chance à vous!

    it's not right..that all this phone companies are aware of the problem and continue to sell phone with the same issue's. i learned the hard way..i had a lg4 for less than 4 month, went back to get a replacement phone that took for ever to get another one. .cause all of the back order's.
    this is not just sprint..it's all the other providers too..guilty for continued to sell phone that are defective. both parties are aware of the problem!! who can we fight this injustice! !

    • @fayloyan

      You will need battery to boot it up, and that moment of hair drying is to give it a little bit more heat to "accelerate" the boot up process, if I remember correctly. Did you get yours to boot?

    i couldn't believe that freezing and/or blow-drying could possibly work. but my V10 was bootlooped, so i had to try. freezing for an hour got it to start, but it died withing 30 seconds, several times. so i tried blow-drying on high for 3 minutes, and damned if it didn't start! it's now 4 hours later, i've neen able to transfer everything off the phone, charge the battery from 13% to 100%, and it's STILL ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i love you tube.

    Thank you. This worked for me. It worked 1 time for 10 minutes. Got 90% of what I wanted. I tried freezing it several times for up to 25 minutes. I would get slightly farther. Then decided to just try your method the next day. Worked! 3-4 inches for 4 minutes slowly going back and forth. I set a timer and when it was about 30 seconds away I plugged in the USB and was ready to go. It seemed the less I had to interact with the screen the better it was.

    • @fayloyan
      @fayloyan  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      How long did you blow it and at what distance? How did the phone "feel" after you blew it? As I stated in the video, blow it in high/hot setting with a few inches away until it feels like you touch a piece of cloth that was ironed with steam. Do not blow it for too long because I fear if it would melt something inside. The longest I tried was like 3-4 minutes until the phone was really hot. Focus on the bottom, but also make sure the other areas (camera lens/botton, the screen...etc) are at least warm if you haven't tried it. Based on online comments, some LG G4s would just die, doesn't matter what you do to it. Hopefully yours is not one of them.

    • @kiitioyelude
      @kiitioyelude 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for replying. I think mine has just died because i cant charge it anymore. if it does turn on its only for a few seconds before it turns off due to the bootloop or the 0% battery. I heated it for as long as i could before i started worrying about melting something too, yet it didnt turn on. Oh well, there's nothing i can do about it now, just have to accept that all my things have gone. Thanks again for the advise, much appreciated.

      Its unfortunate but more that half of my things are gone, there's nothing i can do now. I did try the freezing method but the problem i had with that one was every time i froze it, the battery seemed to be at 0% so i had to charge it for a while afterwards. Even then most off the time it didn't turn on, when it eventually did turn on, the battery was really low so the phone went off straight away. There was basically nothing else i could do to the phone, esp since it wasnt even charging properly anymore. Thanks again for the help

    I recently had this happen a few days ago, and T-Mobile promised me a replacement or possibly an LG G5. I'm desperate to get it temporarily working again and have all my photos backed up into an SD card, but I don't know which method to attempt. I know the freezer one only works for a few minutes, but I'm not sure how long I'll take with uploading the photos to the SD card. I'm afraid to try the hair dryer method because that's how it dies quicker. What do y'alls suggest?

    heating method did not work for me, but freezer method worked. 15 minutes in freezer (without battery and sim card), after that I put in my battery and connected my laptop. Now, I already did a backup of 9gb. Im almost done. THANK YOU so much for saving a lot of awesome memories (pictures) from getting lost for ever. Its a shame that lg did not warn us. Ill never buy an lg device again.

    just wondering, either freezing and/or heating- did you take your sim card and sd card out prior?

    • @fayloyan
      @fayloyan  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question. In most cases, I DID take out both the sim card and SD card because I feared either freezing or heating would do damage to them. I believe if either method works, it would give one ample amount of time to back up all the data, like my case. Despite I did freeze and heat the sim card and SD card in some instances, they are working fine as of today (almost a month since the death of the original G4 in the video).

    My G4 got the boot loop syndrome yesterday while it was sitting on my desk, not even being used. I just picked it up and it was at the LG screen. I tried freezing it last night, but like yours, it only stayed on for a few minutes before it died again... I'll have to try the hair dryer now- hopefully that works!

    • @fayloyan

    My Phone Keeps Going To Home Screen & Than Goes Back To Where It Shows LG Than Back To Home Screen Back To Where It Shows LG Back To Back
    It Just Now Starting To Do That.... Wonder Why?

    • @fayloyan
      @fayloyan  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have read it somewhere that if it keeps looping to the home screen then LG then home screen, it is "half bootlooped", which means it will eventually become "full bootlopped". Although I can never confirm that (returned the phone almost 2 years ago) but it makes logical sense.

    Freezer Method worked ! ! I left in freezer about 30min(Our freezer is really cold at the top) and I connected my long USB cable to my laptop on the dining table. I was able to get into the phone, and transfer my images :) I also backed up my apps, etc using LG BRIDGE! Which I recommend others to download as well. BTW the hair dryer method also worked, but not as well. Phone bootlooped after 5min

    Another success story. The hair dryer method worked great. I don't recommend putting the phone in the freezer. This will cause condensation inside the phone and can lead to more issues. The main issue with the phone boot up is the processor. There is a loose contact from the processor to the mother board. Heating the phone works due to the expansion of the metal contacts. You must keep the phone hot to keep it going. Not too hot or the phones safety shut off will engage. We were able to save all photos to the computer via USB and backed up the phone to Google. Now it's time to send this junker back and get a replacement. Let's hope the replacement phone does not have the same issue. Word of advise, back your phone up on a regular basis and get DropBox. It's a terrible feeling to face the possibility of getting nothing back. Wish you all luck with this.

      @fayloyan  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great story! I am glad that it worked out fine for you. In my case, it was a sign of relief after I was able to turn it back on and backed up 99% of the data. I got a replacement from my mobile carrier and the replacement unit is actually an "older" unit (a lower serial number) with an older manufactured date. So I anticipate that it will eventually die again. Thanks for sharing your successful story and good luck with your new unit.

    so, tried the freezer method, even stuck it in an airtight bag to avoid moisture. buuuut the screen was still condensated when I took it out, so I wiped it off and gave it a boot. it worked, but then turned off after about 5 minutes. I tried the freezer again, and it booted again, but this time there was no image on the screen, just a couple linjes at the top, and my comp wasnt registering it. Then it turned off again.
    I have since not been able to get it to even do the vibrate test that signals a boot attempt by pressing the power button. it's just nothing. nothing's happening.
    I then tried the blowdryer, but still no response at all.
    Looks like I'm not getting my 2 years of photos off it. Rip.

    Please help me , it's really important for me. I didn't really understand the dryer method (not my native language) Once you heated it up until it became hot (without battery plugged in) and the other time you dried it from the bottom . Would you mind explaining the differences and when to use one and the other? Also , when you dried it from the bottom , was it on the hot setting or normal temperature? Thanks

    • @fayloyan
      @fayloyan  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, if you read the texts in the video, that would have explained a lot of the steps. As for the difference when to use one or the other, they did not really make a huge difference but I tend to focus on blowing the bottom in "high" (or hot) setting. I did not include the battery until it is time to turn on because I feared if the battery would explode if I heated it too much. So, in a nutshell, set the hair dryer to high/hot setting, blow the bottom, as well as where the battery is placed, until it feels hot like if you iron a cotton shirt for 10-15 seconds with steam. Hope these are helpful and you get your stuff back once it is revitalized.

    @Totogasm 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Would this also work on LG G4 that does not turn on at all? Sometimes the phone shows an empty battery sign so I plug it to charge, but I don't get any indication if it's charging or not. The LG logo might show up for a few seconds and then it's gone and the phone doesn't react at all. I have a lot of photos on the internal memory that I need saving (I thought I had them on the SD card, but unfortunately I didn't save them there) my phone still has warranty but I don't want to send it for repair before I try to save the photos that are basically irreplaceable due to my father passing last summer, so I can't make new memories with him anymore.

    • @fayloyan
      @fayloyan  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry to hear about your loss. According to some comments I have read while researching this issue (bootloop), I think your phone is not technically in a bootloop, yet. Have you tried a different battery?

    • @Totogasm
      @Totogasm 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      fayloyan thank you. I haven't tried another battery yet, as none of my friends or family use LG so I could borrow a battery to try. I'm not sure if electronics stores would even let me try out a battery but I might go and buy one just for that. The company from which I got the phone doesn't have a service store in the area and they do the repair service by post or send a driver to pick the device up and after repair they deliver it back. I really hope that it's just battery issue. I cannot afford to lose those photos. But either way, thank you for this video and for commenting.

      Totogasm, you are welcome. I totally understand how frustrated but helpless when something like this happens. If you are in the USA, try posting something in local forums (whether it is car related, camera related, or Craigslist) and see if anyone if your area can lend you a battery to try. Either that, $15-$20 would get you a non-OEM or used LG G4 battery. Good luck and take care.

      Hi, if you use Windows 7/8/10, whenever you connect the phone (in this case, the LG G4) to the non-Mac computer via an USB wire, it would automatically recognize the device as long as you have chosen "MTP" USB storage and "allowed" it on the phone. Once that is done, Windows would see it as a "drive" (usually it's called 'G4') and you just extract files you need from there to the computer. Hope this helps.

    My LG V10 is only 6 months old, and last night it started the infamous boot loop. Took out the battery, SIM, and SD card. Started with the blowdryer method. Attempted it nearly 20x in the span of 3 hours, and towards the end, my phone stopped turning on altogether.
    Then I tried the freezer method. Wrapped it in paper towels and placed it in a plastic bag to absorb and prevent moisture buildup, as the phone can still be replaced under warranty. Let it freeze for 30 minutes, turned it on, and backed up all my precious data while my phone stayed inside the freezer, as your video demonstrated.
    The phone stayed on for 40 minutes, and miraculously died JUST 5 SECONDS after the last folder finished backing up. It was the perfect amount of time for me to backup all of my precious data (including priceless family pictures from birthdays and Thanksgiving/Christmas).
    THANK YOU so so much for posting this tutorial!!!! I had lost all hope and was preparing for the worst, and in the very end, the freezer method saved my sanity. Thank you very much. You are a miracle worker!

      Hi, I believe your phone is mostly dead because I have encountered the same thing after reviving it multiple times (in the video, I have explained that it allowed me to back up 99% of the data after reviving it for the 1st 2 times, so I started playing Pokemon Go again to see if it would 'kill' the phone again, and it did). Before it finally died, I could not have it staying on for more than a few minutes by either method. So good luck if you have not backed up all the data, and hope my comment is helpful.

    This just happened to me today. I brought the phone to a repair place and they told me it's a widespread problem. There are some texts that I really want to backup before I bring it to a T-Mobile center or contact LG so my phone is in the freezer right now. I put it in ziplock bags to prevent moisture from getting inside the phone. If this doesn't work I'll try the hairdryer method. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

      fayloyan Thank you so much! The freezing method didn't work for me, but the hair dryer did! I was able to backup my texts/call log and started to backup my pictures when it went off.
      I put it in the freezer again and did the hair dryer again and this time it lasted ~45 minutes so I was able to backup everything from the phone.
      I was completely devastated about losing so much (especially the important texts), but thanks to your video everything is saved! I can't possibly thank you enough.
      Would you suggest I bring it to a T-Mobile store to get it replaced or how should I proceed?

    • @fayloyan
      @fayloyan  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are very welcome. I am so happy that the video is helpful to you. After I backed up 99% of my stuff, I brought it to T-Mobile and eventually got a replacement unit. In my area, it took them 5 business days to get a replacement unit, so you might want to call ahead (do not physically go there because once they see your unit works fine, they will send you away) so you will not be without a phone for long. However, definitely get a new unit because your current phone might not last long, If at all. Like many commented here as well as thousands of people all over, many people are frustrated with LG over this. Imagine you were not able to retrieve/back up your important texts/data? Lastly, getting a replacement unit from T-Mobile shall not cost most than $5 for most post-paid plans.

    • @maxpowers3732
      @maxpowers3732 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Today I went to the T-Mobile store ready for a fight, but the person was actually very helpful. Once I explained the problem she said that LG will send me a new phone, but it's in back order so I won't receive it for around 2 weeks. The only problem is I have to pay $20 for shipping, but she said if I call and complain I shouldn't have to pay the shipping because it was their fault the phone is defective.
      This is a very frustrating problem and one that I unfortunately had before. My Palm Pre just stopped working and I lost some very precious texts and pictures I'll never be able to recover. I had a horrible feeling it was going to happen again, but fortunately this time I was able to save them.

    • @fayloyan

      I am glad that you had some positive experience at the T-Mobile store. Yes, the $20 can usually be waived or credit back to your account if you call and complain but I think they will charge you at least $5 for a replacement (some kind of processing/verification fee).
      Since this phone can save most stuff on an SD card, so I put almost everything on there, and for the data that cannot be done directly on the SD card, I'd sync them once every 3 days either to the cloud or to the SD card manually. It is a PITA but if this replacement dies again, at least I would have minimal amount of data lost (yes, I would expect this thing to eventually die.)

      From the results, it did not matter much. I had the SD card in there just in case if it boots up, things could transfer to there, which is faster than using USB wire connecting to a computer.

    Thank You, Thank You. The hair dryer method worked on my LG G3 phone. I had tried the freezer method and it only worked for a couple of minutes. I heated up the phone for about 3 minutes using the dryer and am now backing up my 1500+photos to an SD card. I saw some other fixes where you had to disassemble the phone and heat the chip. Luckily I found your video. I hope it last ling enough to back up all my data, but at least I can try it again if it freezes on the logo again. I know this is a temporary fix, but at least it saved my data. Thanks Again!!!!

    Hair dryer didn't work, Freezing it did the job! at the second try the phone started normally but worked for only a few minutes. But!!! The phone is moist and I'm afraid to cause it to get rusty. Is it safe? An LG technician should come in 3 days and replace the motherboard. I want to rescue my data before he does that.
    What do you say?

    • @fayloyan
      @fayloyan  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      So did you get all of your data yet? If so, I think that is the most critical part. As for "moist", did the "moisture papers" turn red (one shall be on the battery and one shall be on the phone itself once you take out the battery)? If not, you shall be fine. Good luck.

    • @avicbk
      @avicbk 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks.
      Couldn't make it work for more than 1 minute after freezing.
      I have two batteries, both of them are with red mark on their sticker, but that's how I remember it was with them from while ago.
      On the phone I didn't find any red mark, so I guess I should be calm about it.
      I will keep trying.
      If anyone knows of a safer way to get data from an ilap G4, I'd be very glad to know.
      Thank you.

    • @fayloyan
      @fayloyan  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd say keep trying the heating method because that sounds like what I went through with the freezing method (turned on for a short period of time, then died again). As for the phone with the red dot, I think LG will gladly accept it. Take care.

  • @lemech9606
    @lemech9606 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    First question: Whats about humidity when I use the freezing method? Is it possible that my G4 gets a water damage on account of the condensed water?
    Second question: Does the freezing method actually work? Because iam scared as hell that I lose my datas... :/

    • @fayloyan
      @fayloyan  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1) Yes, the freezing method could trigger the moisture sticker to turn from white to red due to condensation. However, I have done it so many times, it did not have an effect (it the sticker does turn red, use a small amount of bleach will magically turn it back to white)
      2) I have read comments here and witnessed it would work for many people, but not me, so the heating method saved all my data
      Good luck!

      Isnt the heating method dangerous because your hardware can take damage of the high heat?

    • @fayloyan
      @fayloyan  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are welcome. In fact, if your device is in a bootloop, it would not last much longer anyway. So even if you revive the device, it would eventually bootloop again. That is one of the reasons many people are so frustrated with LG with this issue. As I always tell people through the comments here, the most important thing is the data, the device is only a commodity and it can be replaced, but not (necessarily) your data (photos, texts, videos...etc)

  • @zerpent5767

    I have the LG V10 and it won't turn on at all. The buttons don't work on the back and my computer won't recognize it when I plug it in. I have so many things on this phone and I need to back it all up. Will the hair dryer method turn it back on long enough to back up everything? And do you keep the battery in when putting it in the freezer or take it out?

    • @fayloyan
      @fayloyan  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hear you on the stuff that might be lost forever on the phone. In my situation, the heating method went well and the phone stayed on until I tried breaking it (by opening apps/games) again the next day, as stated in the video. For freezing, it did not work quite well for me, but I have tried both with and without the battery, it did not work very well in my situation (did not stay on long enough), and it could be different for V10. If you care about warranty or will trade in your phone, do not get the moisture indicator to change color if you are doing the freezing method (although I have tried it multiple times, it did not change the color despite there was ice all over the phone). So good luck.

    • @fayloyan
      @fayloyan  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      There were 2 or 3 V10 users who revitalized their phones successfully by (mostly) the heating method and commented here (there are 400+ comments for this video). Follow the video and give it a try. The key thing is, heat the phone (without the battery because I feared if the battery would blow up) until it feels like if you are ironing a piece of fabric, that is when you want to stop heating it (insert the battery then) and try booting it up. I know how you feel about the (possibility of) lost data because I have gone through that situation with this crappy device...it is also the primary reason I made this video. Give a try (yes, there is risk as you know) and see if it works for you if you don't want to shell out hundreds/thousands of dollars to recover the data by a professional.

    Same problem here. But I'm afraid of trying these methods. What should I mind of if I am trying it? Does it make a difference if it is a H815 or an other device? And how much time do I have to invest to try these methods? Thanks for help

      If you fear of trying this, then don't even try it. Pay up for a professional to handle the issue. I did not have $2,000 to spend on data recovery with no guarantee, so I gave it a try by using these methods.

      I tried the heating method. It didn't work really. I used my hair dryer and let it blow of the phone for about 70 seconds. Thank you for the video! I had vital info (calendar and contacts) to retrieve before sending the phone to LG under warranty for repairs. Freezing worked for 5 seconds each time but this worked for several minutes 3 times and allowed me to get the data I needed. Why those two things were not syncing to Google when the apps and other stuff were still mystifies me. It should have been a one touch backup to the new Moto G5+ I bought.

    • @fayloyan
      @fayloyan  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are welcome, and that sounds like the patterns I have gone through (freezing worked for a little bit but heating worked better). In fact, I had the same issue with the LG G4 where the contacts did not sync up totally...now I wonder if it is widespread on all LGs. Thanks for commenting.

    • @fayloyan

      If you could get the phone to boot, transferring photos/videos to the SD card might be faster than via its USB wire to a computer. Hello, I am from France and sorry for my poor English, i am encountering the same problem I tried the freezer method it doesn't work I even kept my phone for like two hours but no luck so im about to try the heat method but before I'd like to ask will it harm the phone? my phone is still under warranty (2 years warranty in France) if I try this method and bring the phone to the repair center will they find that I heated the phone and refuse to repair my phone ?I'm waiting for replays THANK YOU.

    • @fayloyan
      @fayloyan  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Many people who commented here had the same situation as yours. Most of them failed to reboot the phone by the freezing method, but the heating method worked for them (and myself). I highly doubt the repair center would find out that you have heated your phone unless you melted something outside. Based on how many people have fixed this by heating method, I think it is safe to do so as long as you don't melt anything (like setting high on the hair dryer and blow it for like 10 minutes, do not do that). Good luck and please report back if it works for you (unfortunately, some phones don't reboot at all).

      thanks for answering me I tried the hair dryer method it doesn't work for me here what I did I turned the hair dryer with the second speed and kept for about 3 min at the top of the phone the I turned it to third speed and kept for 3 more min, I don't know id I did this correctly? I really frustrated cause I've some precious photos that I took in London with my nieces and I fighted with my cousin defending my phone as the best camera phone than iphone 7 and I choosed this phone for his camera and finally can't even see the pictures I took. by the bay thanks again.

    • @fayloyan
      @fayloyan  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I totally understand your frustration, especially when your belief (LG G4 vs iPhone 7's camera) and your precious data (those photos in London) are on the line. As for the hair dryer method, instead of fan speed, try the HOTTEST setting because if the air is just warm, it does not work. You want hot air blowing at the phone. As I have stated in the video or in some of the comments, you want to get the phone very hot to touch, sort of like if you use an iron with steam to iron some clothes, if you let the iron sit for 10-15 seconds on the ironing board with a piece of fabric, and that is the feel you shall get when you heat the phone (1:48 in the video). Try it a few more times because it did not totally work for me the 1st time. By the way, take the battery out when you blow the phone. Good luck.

    • @fayloyan
      @fayloyan  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do not think it is a good idea to keep the battery in there when you use the hairdryer because overheating the battery might end up like many imploding Samsung Note 7. So, without the sim card and battery, keep trying it until you get more time to back up your data, cautiously. Good luck.

    • @xKopGx
      @xKopGx 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      thnx but, you think i can keep doing this time over time? or at some point it will die completely?

    • @fayloyan
      @fayloyan  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      In my situation, if I did not reactivate Pokémon Go, which probably caused the phone to heat up so much (in a different way than the hairdryer) and went into bootloop, I think it would have lasted a bit longer (after I was able to reboot the phone to normal by the hairdryer method, it was on the whole night and morning until I started Pokémon Go again). However, I think once a bootloop starts, the device will eventually die, according to many comments online and here. In your case, once you have all your data downloaded/backed up, simply return your phone to LG for a warranty fix (I have read that they honor it in most cases) or return it to your carrier for a replacement unit (in my case).

      Based on all these comments left for this video as well as thousands of others online, I believe LG needs to up the ante on their quality control. Ok, is temporary fix, I am trying the sun without the battery next as someone suggested. I don't want to take the phone apart, like others have shown here on TH-cam and using the dryer after. It seems to be from an overheating issue.

    • @fayloyan
      @fayloyan  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Based on many who have commented here and in other forums, once an LG is bootlooped, it is like a terminal illness, which means it will eventually die. So just be prepared for that. Good luck and take care.

    Thank you for this video and supporting my channel.
    +1 from me #1004
    I have also already dropped LG for Samsung. They still did not fix faulty motherboards, over 4 years of production. Even replaced one went back to service after few months. Bad strategy LG!

      I read most of the comments in this video and I would say most people's phones are not curable if the bootloop spell ever happens. I agree with you that LG gets a pretty bad reputation from incident/glitch like this.

      LG has a bad solder issue on the motherboards since LG G3 models and still present until this day... Your solution helps to recover some data that are not already in the cloud but the real fix is to replace the motherboard that unfortunately is not permanent, it will happen again. /Talking form the experience/

    as far as most of the recent research i have done this seems to be a relatively newer problem so to speak i think the oldest case ive found with this is maybe six or seven months granted the phone not coming out too long ago is accredited to the time frame or lack thereof but im seeing a lot of this happening to people specifically in the last few week/month maybe im trying to put peices together where there is no puzzle but just seems kinda coincidental to me havent tried these two methods yet im awaiting to charge it to 100 to see if that works thanks for the upload im glad it worked hopefully i can achieve a back up many pics and contacts would be lost rip lg you have now achieved my shitlist of phones never to buy again

      I believe Pokémon Go, humidity/hot weather, and the age (you are correct, this phone came out less than 2 years ago) have something to do with it. Based on the search I have done, this is a pretty widespread problem, whether you were reading the Reddit dialogues or Android forums, many people from all over the world have encountered this issue. Good luck with you mission of reviving the phone and back up the necessary data.
