Great stuff! For desoldering, you set the hot air station to 430 °C @ 40% air flow, but to what temperature and air flow did you set the hot air station when you were soldering on the new chip and to what temperature did you set the knife-shaped tip of the soldering station when you were cleaning the contacts of the bottom chip and applying the solder paste to it? Thanks a ton!
Awesome video! Shocked to see so much underfill covering the pads when top chip was lifted out. Looks like the underfill is the cuprit for the infamous bootloop issue.
Thank you for your very informative video, but I don't think a task this complicated should be performed by a lay person. Obviously you're skilled & knows exactly what you're doing, anyone encountering this problem should send their device to you for proper repairs.
You are probably correct, but there are many qualified techs that watch our channel as well. End Users though should definitely send their phone to us for repair and the link is in the description.
We had to try a bunch of different batches to find the best quality. I have requested these to be added to our website and soon you will be able to find and purchase it there. Here is the link: www.cellulardr.com/lg-g4-h810-parts/
I have a pair of questions: I have understood that the problem is a bad soldering of the processor, so, why is it neccessary to change the IC? Can't you use the same one? And after repairing the cellphone by doing this you're showing, the same problem doesn't happen again? Thank you!
First...Great video! ...but not many people are gonna have a scope to magnify the electronics like you have, and seeing the solder joints could be a major problem especially given their location. I was a PC tech for years, and 'im not sure I could make this repair... especially without the scope. Its not an easy one for sure.
Thanks for the video series, my g4 started bootlooping. i did a reflow and get it to turn on again just to make the back up and haven't used it since that. Do you think that reballing this chip and with the heatsink this phone could work normally?
Thanks for the excellent video. How did you know that the chip was faulty and reballing would not have helped? Do you have any experience with Lumia 830 bootloop? Will it be also necessary to replace the IC? Thank you for your reply
If your time is worth something that is you are being paid by hours and your throughput affects your salary as well you'll find using factory "balled" new chips a much wiser option. If you work on your own then especially in a case like this one reballing would save you a lot of money and be a much quicker fix.
We cannot know for sure, because there are many different variables, but since we started using the heat sinks we have not had any return with the same issue.
Hello! Assuming the fat white-labeled syringe is flux, then what is the substance that you used at 6:30? If it's indeed another flux gel, then can you please tell me the reason why are you using two different flux gels in addition to liquid flux? Thank you!
I know this is an old video but the problem with the G3 and G4 has to do with the solder that was used (and/or the technique.) The "ball solder joints". A pin or two, or three from the CPU becomes essentially disconnected from the board after heating and cooling down over time.
1. Do you think operations like this can be done by people with minimum knowledge and experience with soldering iron ? 2. Is worth buying a used LG G4 (on price 70-80$) that is already in bootloop and try to fix it ? 3. About heat sink, on the area over the processor, do you think that, if you add something that put a bit of pressure on processor will prevent the problem to appear again (desoldering problem) ? 4. Can you do a feedback video to tell how this fixes behaves in time, on intensive use (like gaming) and for how log they resist? Thank you, well made videos, good explanations, great video quality, hope to see more ! I like G4, but a new one is kind expensive for me, but i had worked with electronics devices and soldering iron, and I'm quite handy, and I'm curios if I can fix one . Thank you !
1 & 2. No this is one of the more complicated repairs and I would definitely not recommend buying one that has this issue and attempting to repair it with minimal experience and knowledge. 3. No pressure has nothing to do with the fix. What the heat sinks do, is consume and spread the heat, thus keeping the processor as cool as possible. 4. Sure, but up to date we haven't had any return with this defect. So far so good. As for gaming, that is very hard to test since I would have to employ someone to sit and play games on the unit to see if it will come back. I'm sure over the long term it will but short term, we have done hundreds of these without any issues or returns so far. Keeping my fingers crossed. We are very happy to hear the feedback about the video and thank you for taking the time to write the comments. We definitely plan on doing more of these videos on a regular basis. Take care.
Hi please can you lern me how to use BGA remover liquid to remove a very strong adhesive glue to replace a power management ic on my LG G4 . Thank you.
Thank you. As long as we get people watching, we will keep doing them. Let us know what other videos you want and we will add it to the list. Don't forget to share the video with anyone you know that has an LG G4 and also subscribe to our channel. Thanks again.
Hello sir, mine is Microsoft lumia 950 having same ic's , the phone doesn't turn on but vibrates when charger plugged in , is the problem of PM in or possessor ic , please reply
if im replacing the processor, it will change something in my mobile? i have (unfortunately) T-mobile and im afraid it will lock my mobile cause i bought it from other country?
will this work on LG v10? mine got green screen and bootloop,,, LG bridge didnt recognize it,,, expert says its a hardware problem,... should i try this method?
CellularDr i would like to send my lg g4 to you but it does not have any problem but i need the heatsinks to be installed such that it does not bootloop in future
Does lg g5 have the same problem as bootloop and fix it like lg v10 ... i want to buy lg g5 but i'm afraid of this problem .. and the likelihood of it happening is bigger lg g5 or lg v10
Very informative video! Keep up the good work. I just wanted to confirm if the given processors will work the same with other models as well? I have two G4 as follows: (1) H811 (doesn’t goes past the LG logo and starts heating up); and (2) H815 International Version (it started this issue yesterday and as you said, I didn’t turned it on at all to avoid any more damage to the processor chip. Should I try the reflow and heat sink replacement method first before going for the processor replacement?) I highly appreciate your video and kind effort for the greater good of common people. I just hope LG sees your good work and feels some shame on their poor quality controls.
Sounds like you had a software issue, but I would definitely still install the heat sinks to keep the phone from further damage. Here is the link: www.cellulardr.com/lg-g4-copper-heat-sink-adhesive-4-small-pieces-precut/
I did exactly what I see on TH-cam trying to fix my lg v10 booth loop issue. However, I don't know what I did wrong but after I assembled the phone back instead of it to be revived, the screen now divides into two horizontal sides with one side black with the lg logo and the other half white with kind of small patches. I love this phone and barely used it for two weeks after I bought than the dreaded loop started. Is there anything that can be done to bring it back in working condition. What. Could have gone wrong.
Might this fix a black screen? Sometimes i get the LG boot screen or the "you need to charge your phone more" screen when i plug in. but mostly it just stays black.
The one for the processor IC is this: www.cellulardr.com/lg-g4-top-processor-ic-chip-k3qf6f60am-qgcf/ The other two are for different functions. Please read the description for more information.
pls tell me my LG G4 all so same problem some time phone getting start after few minut again restart and phone getting more heat its hard were problem or soft were problem if it hard were problem pls tell which IC have problem thank you
My lg g4 turns off alone offen when it sleeps while it never does when it is in use .Is this a sign or a behavior that leads to bootloop ? If not what can it be ? Thank you.
I have a different problem. I have a slip screen issue. Where half the screen work perfectly... And the other half works when it wants to. Everything I read online points to the processor not being seeded right. How do I fix that issue correctly?
Will do offer to repair this model within the United States only, due to the shipping headaches, cost and import export fees. But if you would like to send us your phone for data extraction, then we can do that for you and send you the backup electronically and recycle the phone afterward.
great video! Just one small comment - the "processor" on the top is not a processor, but an LPDDR ram chip. Just google the part number printed on the chip will confirm this.
Joseph Acosta Yes as permanent as possible. Make sure you also put the heat sinks on the phone to make sure the new processor doesn't get damaged again.
CellularDR So bootloop will never happen again? WoAh. I really hope I can ship my phone to you. Lol. Too bad I'm on Asia and got no experience with whatever you're doihg jn the video.

i m the victim of same issue happening on my lg g4, i even dont have these materials to repair it my self, as i gave my fone to some repairing shope here in Dubai united arab emirats they have told me it has a software issue and at last they told your device not supporting software i know it has a hardware issue and i told them to replace the processing IC they have told me to need to leave my fone for atleast 1 day i left like one week and when i went back to get my fone they said sorry we cant repair it so my friend please advise me what i do now?? or u may know someone in dubai really can do the same??
430 degrrees C??? That destroys the ram chip! No wonder you have to buy a new one. It also risks destroying cpu chip underneath as well. No wonder success rate is so low.
Yes ,can I send my phone to you and get it fixed you've got an opportunity here mate help the the masses, I like my LG to be honest I'm actually using a Galaxy S7 edge at the minute despite the massive massive distance in prices, I would still probably like them about the same, I feel LG the company should have been made called back all the phones and fix them because, I only had mine a wet day, when out of nowhere my battery drained one night and that was the end of my phone, I actually think my one could be a battery issue because, I can never get it to charge is this possible, I heard somebody saying one time that there are two ways that you can get the Boot loop 1 is of course their separation of the chip and the other apparently is the battery gone wrong and mine my battery doesn't charge at all what do you reckon
Great stuff! Thank you very much for the effort at making this video. I´d like to know where did you get the replacement microchip??
We had to try a bunch of different batches to find the best quality. I have requested these to be added to our website and soon you will be able to find and purchase it there. Here is the link: www.cellulardr.com/lg-g4-h810-parts/
Do you ship to Mexico?
No unfortunately we do not ship to Mexico at this time. Sorry
Maybe you could provide a number or specifications about this chip so I can look for it here?? thank you
You will be able to find that on the website once the part is listed there.
Great video. If we don't have access to a new chip can we reball and clean our old chip and put it back??
Thanks bro, I have question, u don’t have to do software after replacing the chip?
I have a pair of questions: I have understood that the problem is a bad soldering of the processor, so, why is it neccessary to change the IC? Can't you use the same one? And after repairing the cellphone by doing this you're showing, the same problem doesn't happen again? Thank you!
Hello, very good video
I wanted to ask what temperature I removed the chip from the ram and with what speed of air?
First...Great video!
...but not many people are gonna have a scope to magnify the electronics like you have, and seeing the solder joints could be a major problem especially given their location.

thank you for this video,i have questions please:1/what is the temparture for soldering ,2/is it a permanent fix for lg g4 ?
Excellent video! Is the Top Processor IC Chip that's used in the LG V10 identical to the one used in the LG G4 , i. e., K3QF6F60AM-QGCF? Thanks a lot!
Thank you. I don't believe so. We are in the process of getting some of the V10 Processors and doing a video for that as well.
I genuinely can´t wait! Thanks!
Hi, what are the names of the 2 fluxes you used in this video? Also, do you have a link to the knife you used? Thanks!
Is this solution permanent? Or after some time back to Bootloop? I have the H810 model but I am from Ecuador. Thanks for your answer. Great video!!
We cannot know for sure, because there are many different variables, but since we started using the heat sinks we have not had any return with the same issue.

Hello. How long does this method last?
Non conductive thermal paste also works instead of copper tape for the heatsink repair? (im going to use artic mx 4 on the top of the chip and rams)

Have you done a similar video with the V10 ? I ordered one and am assuming I'll have to fix it.
Have you replaced the dram ?

Im in SoCal where are you located to fix my phone!
Could you tell me, what was you put on the chip while you replace it?
I think you are referring to the flux. We have links in the description of the video showing the material and supplies used.

CellularDr i would like to send my lg g4 to you but it does not have any problem but i need the heatsinks to be installed such that it does not bootloop in future
please make a video to repair the nexus 5x bootloop also
How can you possibly "overclock" (like you said ) a processor with temperature no matter how high it is?
Very wonderful
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it.
Does lg g5 have the same problem as bootloop and fix it like lg v10 ... i want to buy lg g5 but i'm afraid of this problem .. and the likelihood of it happening is bigger lg g5 or lg v10
g4 working fine now just booted 3 times then after working fine almost 30 mis now working fine now it will work fine using heavy applications
I would not use heavy applications and games. I don't think this phone can handle it and might overheat again.
Really appriciate your prompt response
No problem. Glad to help.
my lg flex 2 has the same problem can I fix it using this method
how to use safety temp control ? i make QUICK 857DW smd rework station
Is there a similar fix for a V20?

Go ahead and re-flow it but very carefully and not too hot.
hola, donde consigo el cautin que usas ? saludos desde Perú
Raul Castro en tu culo
I had similar issue. my phone stuck in lg logo and won't boot. I fix it by using octopus box. and now my lg g4 h818p works fine. :)
Sounds like you had a software issue, but I would definitely still install the heat sinks to keep the phone from further damage. Here is the link: www.cellulardr.com/lg-g4-copper-heat-sink-adhesive-4-small-pieces-precut/
howmuch do you charge for mail in repair. pls reply as early possible. thank you

I applied heat sink sheet
hello sir are you in pak plzzz help me to set same problem of my g4 plzz
I applied this heat sink sheet but my phone is still in boot loop worked for only one day
Might this fix a black screen?

How much do you charge perform this repair?
Andrew Fetzer Take a look at our website for the processor chip and check the installation box to see the cost
Would just replacing the motherboard fix the problem?
yes, also is easist
My lg g4 turns off alone offen when it sleeps while it never does when it is in use .Is this a sign or a behavior that leads to bootloop ?
If not what can it be ?
Thank you.
If i replace the chip, Is my data also gonna erased or not??
If problem half screen is same case with bootloop?
No that doesn't sound like the same problem.
that problem causing some print missing display connector to under processor
I have a different problem. I have a slip screen issue. Where half the screen work perfectly... And the other half works when it wants to. Everything I read online points to the processor not being seeded right. How do I fix that issue correctly?
Can I send you my LG G4 to repair?
I'm from Portugal (Europe)...
How much it costs?
Thanks
Will do offer to repair this model within the United States only, due to the shipping headaches, cost and import export fees. But if you would like to send us your phone for data extraction, then we can do that for you and send you the backup electronically and recycle the phone afterward.
great video! Just one small comment - the "processor" on the top is not a processor, but an LPDDR ram chip. Just google the part number printed on the chip will confirm this.
There is no ic chip replacement for lg flex 2 at your website
i m from india will i get this product
Can I send you mine for repair?
Is this the Permanent fix for G4 bootloop?
Joseph Acosta Yes as permanent as possible. Make sure you also put the heat sinks on the phone to make sure the new processor doesn't get damaged again.
CellularDR So bootloop will never happen again? WoAh. I really hope I can ship my phone to you. Lol. Too bad I'm on Asia and got no experience with whatever you're doihg jn the video.

430 degrrees C??? That destroys the ram chip! No wonder you have to buy a new one. It also risks destroying cpu chip underneath as well. No wonder success rate is so low.
