Just finding you , and so impressed ! Being vegan in Nova Scotia is quite expensive , so I use Costco quite often .I will look more for theses items for sure .Thanks 🙂
Welcome! So glad you're here. 🤗 Oooh I've always wanted to visit NS, we've thought about moving there as well.. didn't know how the prices were, so that's always interesting to know! Hope you can find some of these items at Costco. 🤩
Hi Maddie. Thanks so much for the video. As always, it's great. I wanted to share what I do with Mung Beans as replacement for JusEggs. I soak 1 1/2 cups of beans overnight (with just enough water to cover them.) The next morning, I put them in the Vitamix add 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp onion powder. Once blended, I add a jar of Trader Joe's Cowboy Caviar. Then in a pie plate (covered with Parchment paper on the bottom) I add a chopped onion and any other veggies I want to use up, sprinkle with Trader Joe's Chili Lime or Citrusy Garlic, then pour the Mung Bean mixture over the veggies and bake for about 40 - 45 minutes at 350-375. This is great. It turns out to be about 4 large breakfasts (which you can just reheat). It's sort of like a souffle but not. I've also done it with just blueberries and vanilla for a sweet take on breakfast. This is great so you don't have to cook the mixture on the stove top. Hope you try it, it's great!
Hey Connie! Thanks so much for this recipe!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻 Sounds easy and delicious I’m going to have to give it a try! 😃 Sounds exactly like what I’m looking for.
You comments about the cost of tofu are interesting. I had noticed them going up some time ago; coincidentially, Aldi here in the U.S has the best priced tofu I can find ($1.59 for 14 ounces) and it is on sale this week for $1.29. I am planning to get 4 to 6 blocks (feeding only myself).
Wow that’s a great price! 🤩 Yea we are lucky we have some Asian markets near us where I noticed the price is still decent… but all the larger grocery chains are no carrying it for $4-5 CAD per pack and I’m like 😵💫😵💫😵💫. Especially organic which is almost always more expensive!
Yes, you can definitely make the mung beans in on a baking sheet. I have used both a silicone mat and parchment paper. I chop up a bunch of veggies and top the mung bean mixture with them. Great for meal prepping!
I just watched your mung bean pancakes video I will have to get some mung beans I did try red lentil pancakes a while back. Just didn’t seem worth the trouble I’m gonna try making waffles with the mung beans. You are getting prepared to be home, nesting. So sweet. Thanks
Omg, your Costco has so many things ours doesn't have! I seriously don't think my Costco has like half of this stuff. It would be awesome if it did. By the way, not being judgy but you might just want to look into the reasoning for drinking organic coffee. It was an eye opener to my husband and me. I don't drink it but he does so we started getting organic.
Yea it can vary a lot depending on where you are located! I think Costco is pretty receptive to suggestions though, so if you have anything you want them to stock, it never hurts to ask. 😊 I've been drinking organic decaf throughout my pregnancy, but the cost is pretty insane!! I'll do a bit of research into organic vs. non-organic though as I haven't researched it much yet. Thanks for the heads up!

Thank you for the tips for shopping at Costco. Just wondering if your fridge is a Samsung as it looks similar to mine. Is your ice maker in the top left of your fridge and not the freezer 🤔 Well that is how mine is and nothing but trouble with the ice maker. It is three years old and they finally offered us buy a new one at half price or take a check for $one thousand we took the check as there are only 2 of us and if we have a party we can always buy ice.
You're welcome! No it's a GE and the ice maker is in the freezer... but dang I hate when there's fridge trouble! Totally get that and glad they offered you a decent solution. 😊
The mung dal, you can mix 1:1 with rice and cook in instant pot with salt and very little turmeric powder with porridge function. It’s yummy and called Khichadi in India
What a bummer, I never see most of these products at our Costco. Thank you for posting this video. I will be looking for these or writing letters to corporate to find out why we don’t have these.

Can't wait to check some of these items next time I am in Costco. I bought that soy milk last time and I definitely want to buy more. I wish it had a shorter ingredient list, but it's convenient to have on hand instead of the refrigerated soy milk. And those chocolate figs look delicious! 🤤
Totally agree with the soy milk! Not the best ingredient list but inexpensive for organic and definitely convenient. 😅 The chocolate figs turned out to be a good purchase. 😃
If you have a Trader Joe's near you check out their soy milk. The ingredients is organic soy beans and water. The price is very good compared to others. I really need to invest in a nut milk maker. :)
Thank you for sharing, and for being vegan. I like the sprouted oatmeal, organic sauerkraut, flax, organic vegetables, and some other items. Dry beans are a lot less costly than buying beans in cans. You bought another coconut water, however happy harvest coconut water in supermarket fridges is apparently NOT raw, I was shocked to learn this.
New subscribers here. Love your content! I'm team Aldi for my Organic Tofu. It's only $1.29 this week. Costco tofu prices are really good here as well. We finally purchased a tofu press, however, freezing sounds even easier! Thanks for all your tips. Crazy how Costco products vary so much in different areas. Cheers! ❤
Welcome! Glad you’re here! Oh wow $1.29 is a great deal! I’ve heard Aldi has some good prices. 😃 Yes the freezing hack is awesome and basically eliminates the need for a press. Give a try and let me know how you like it!
I also love Better Than Buillion and have every flavor I can find at the stores. HOWEVER, I prefer to make my vegetable broth in the Instant Pot from all the vegetable scraps that I get from prepping! It’s much better for you- (doesn’t have all the sodium) Etc. in it. I have an electric canner so I can quickly and easily can it in quart jars . Since it is from scraps, it costs nothing !
Hey Maddie. I need to step up my instant pot bean cooking and there are so many cooking times out there. As I totally trust you, do you have a cooking table for your beans in the instant pot ? Thank you so much ! Dominique from Ottawa, Canada.
Hahaha yes it's so true! I actually just started out with the Instant Pot's timetable and kind of adjusted based on how I like my beans. So definitely start here! instantpot.com/instantpot-cooking-time/#tab-id-3 I find that older beans need longer to cook, maybe 5-10 minutes extra. I also cook beans longer if I plan to blend them, for example chickpeas that I'm using for hummus I cook for an hour now, whereas I used to only do them for 45! If I know beans will go into another dish and cook longer (like a soup), then I stick to the IP timetable, as I find those times to be the minimum needed to cook. 😄 So it's a bit of adjusting based on preferences. Hope this helps, and hey neighbor!! 🤗
Yes that would be a good option to play around with! I’m going to try some plain ones first to replicate more of the JustEgg style and then will advance from there. 😃
Hey, Maddie! Re: the egg batch stuff, I think the mung bean mix could make really nice "egg" cups, filled with veggies and whatever else. I still need to get a silicone mold for that, but I was also thinking of how the "eggs" could be made more efficiently, and that's one idea that I came up with. Also, maybe they could work for a vegan "quiche"? I'm sure there are ways to work with them that don't involve slaving over a stove. I'll definitely be curious to see what you come up with. Also, mung beans are really expensive, here! They're about $16 for two pounds at the local stores. Fortunately, I live right near and Indian grocer who carries them for less, so I'm putting that on my shopping list for next month, along with some Kala Namak, which he also carries. I really enjoyed this video from Cheap Lazy Vegan (about recreating Just Egg) and I wonder if you might, too? th-cam.com/video/zsN7_IsT7NM/w-d-xo.html Blessings! - Claire
Yes! I think I tried them as egg cups and I wasn't as impressed as having them flat, but I do need to try again (and need to tweak my recipe!). I do think they could be incorporated into a quiche as well. 😃 Holy moley that is expensive! Definitely a good thing you found them for cheaper (and the black salt too!). I'll check out Cheap Lazy Vegan's video for it, she's great. Thanks Claire!
Ah! So you have tried to make egg cups with it. Did you add a little baking powder to the mix? Cheap Lazy Vegan does and I wonder if that would make a positive difference? Yeah, I think the food producers have gotten hip to the whole plant-based thing being really popular and they've jacked up the prices, unfortunately. Thanks! Yeah, I had to do some calling around, but when I realized that they had an Indian name associated with them, I followed a hunch and it paid off. He sells non-organic split mung beans at $10 for 4 pounds, if I remember correctly. It's still not cheap, but it's definitely better. You're welcome! @@LetsEatPlants
Awesome!!! I love how you and Derek costcos have the good firm tofu. My costco still has the carton with all the fluid in it. I prefer the one who have in the video.
Hi Maddie enjoyed your video as always…I am wondering if you have a place to put one of those smaller chest freezers-garage? Since I like to stock up and batch cook etc I ,too, found lack of freezer space challenging…and adding freezer space has made a big difference !
Yes we’ve been looking ever since we got this new fridge. 😂😂 It’s possible we’ll have some space in the garage so that could be an option in the next couple months! Thank you for the suggestion! ☺️☺️
Stocking up with so much must mean time is getting close! I have given up frying pancakes since my nonstick pan now sticks. I’ll give baking a try too!
Yes!! Baby is coming in March! Ahhhh! 😝 I've actually heard you can even do pancakes in the oven as sheet pan pancakes! 😳 I need to play around with that myself because even though our pan is great, it takes forever only cooking 3 at a time. 😆
Our Costco hasn’t had tofu or dried beans in several months. I’m not sure what’s going on. 🤔 I actually made a list of bulk food we buy on a regular basis with the prices to track how often we use them and if the price changes. I really enjoy this video 😊
Oooo interesting! I wonder if something's going on with dried beans at Costcos. 🤔 Great idea to track the prices! I have been checking old videos to see the Costco price increases and whew... it's not pretty! 🫣😂
Tip: I'm pretty new to your channel so I don't know if you have other children or if this is your first? My daughter and daughters-in-law all like to make popsicles out of the coconut water to have on hand while in labor. They all do home births, so I'm not sure how practical homemade popsicles would be in a hospital or clinic, but I thought I'd share anyway just in case you or anyone else find ot helpful. ❤
😂😂😂 Right!? I’m sure I’ll want to go out and go to the store occasionally because I actually love grocery shopping, but hoping to keep it to fresh produce. 😅 We’ll see how that pans out! Lol!
Last time I checked the Kirkland brand of soy milk it had sugar and carrageenan. That’s a hard no for me. Only buy the unsweetened organic Westsoy brand.
Unfortunately the Westsoy brand is really hard to find here! Wish it was more readily available as I do like that one. The Kirkland here does have a small amount of added sugar but doesn’t have carrageenan. 😊
@@LetsEatPlants I googled the ingredients and the box shows it does have carrageenan . Maybe they changed it - hopefully for your sake they did . I buy Westsoy in a pack of 6 from Amazon. $24.99. I was paying about the same price at Whole Foods or Sprouts. Simpler to just get it delivered from Amazon.
@@loeserlegal I think you are looking at the US Kirkland ingredients. They are different from the Canadian ingredients. 😄 I've checked mine multiple times, since others have asked. We also have different products on Amazon.ca then US Amazon, so unfortunately that is a no go for the Westsoy, but it's a good tip for the US subscribers. 😊
My North York area Costco doesn't carry tofu, unfortunately. It's interesting that different Costco stores in the GTA carry different things. With the amount of stocking up you're doing, I think you're nesting. 😊
Yes, so weird how that is, isn't it?! I see items I want in Etobicoke, but it's so far for us haha. These tofu are at East Markham location if that's not too far for you! I think you can also check the website to find other locations that carry it. Hahaha, definitely nesting! It's all food nesting though, I hardly have energy to clean. 😂😂
I'm curious how much sugar is in the Costco soy milk? I stopped buying it from the Costco here because it was too sugary, but I'm also in the USA where everything tends to have even more sugar added to it.
I was wondering if you feel the cost of a Costco membership is really offset by the savings on the items you buy throughout the year. I had a membership years ago and in order to get there I had to pay a toll both ways and when I added that to the membership, I just found it wasn't saving me anything. It was around the time grocery stores started to have more bulk items so I gave up the membership. The other thing is the quality of the organic produce. I watched a video last week about buying a ton of organic at Walmart and was thinking of giving that a try. But later in the week I saw a recall of some organic produce for Walmart and remembered that you see this a lot for Walmart, Aldi, Trader Joes... So I'm wondering if sticking to Whole Foods and Wegmans (New York & New Jersey based) is just better in the long run. Just curious on your thoughts. Love your channel.
Absolutely because I’ve done the price comparisons with our local No Frills and Asian markets, and we definitely save more than the cost of the membership. But… you do have to be careful with what you buy there! I used to get sucked in to buying the produce at Costco bc of convenience… I’m already there, it didn’t seem that much more expensive… but 9 times out of 10 it is wayyyy more expensive! 😣 I pride myself on price comparisons and even if I have to go to 3 stores it’s worth it (luckily all the stores are pretty close together for us). When comparing, I check cost per 100g and Costco always beats the others with things like soy milk, nuts, peanut butter, veggie broth, pasta, etc… a lot of the ones shown in this vid. But like the frozen fruit I didn’t buy for a while at Costco bc the price per 100g had been cheaper at no frills! (We do occasionally do Walmart as well for groceries! They have some great deals too.) When I’m back visiting family in Cali, I always go to Trader Joe’s or farmer’s markets. I’ve never been to a wegmans but I’ve heard good things! 😃 I’ve heard you can also get a friend to get Costco gift cards and that way you don’t need a membership! Just another option! If checking to see if Costco is still worth it for you, you could try that and jot down some of their prices to compare to what you usually pay. 🤗
Another awesome video Maddie even though sadly 😭 there is no Costco near me (have to travel to Glasgow from my area). Great that there is a good selection of vegan foods in Costco. Love 🥰 the video and love 💕 Maddie & ❤Q.
@@LetsEatPlants So good! I had no idea either but once I tried, i couldn't stop lol So now I only buy Costco's regular dried figs and they last a little longer ;) still delicious though
I just can’t handle Costco! The crowds, parking, etc! It’s just me in a small place so I do well elsewhere. And I love my Trader Joe’s! I like seeing all the offerings though. When my son calls me to see if I need anything when he goes, I have some ideas now to tell him.
Understandable! I love TJ’s too. Used to shop there all the time growing up and wish we had one here! Glad you got some good inspiration to tell your son though. 😊
Great question! I actually just started out with the Instant Pot's timetable and kind of adjusted based on how I like my beans. So definitely start here! instantpot.com/instantpot-cooking-time/#tab-id-3 I find that older beans need longer to cook, maybe 5-10 minutes extra. Yes, we’ve been looking! 😅 I didn’t want to have to put it in our kitchen/dining area as the space is pretty small… but I’m thinking maybe the garage? 🤔 I do think it will be worth it! 😂🙌🏻🙌🏻
Watching Costco deal videos is always somewhat disappointing as what is carried in Canada is often different from what is available to consumers in the Chicago area. My local warehouses do not carry many of the products mentioned in this video :(.
In summary, consuming vegan foods can not only benefit personal health but also contribute to animal welfare, environmental sustainability, and food safety. Incorporating more plant-based foods into your diet can be a positive choice for both you and the planet.
Hahaha definitely. 😅 My nesting is all food related it seems… I just want to shop/ stock up and bake! Lol. Waiting for that “cleaning nesting” to kick in. 😜
The soy milk has carrageenan in it! That is a no no, especially if you are pregnant. I have been buying organic Silk unsweetened. You can get a better buy if you buy in bulk at your grocery store. Just put in a special order.
@@kasathome1 I'm wondering if Canada maybe banned it?? I checked another couple brands we like to buy occasionally and they don't have it listed as an ingredient either.
🔻 Let me know your Costco favorites below!
I’d love to have the oatmeal in the yellow bag and the soy milk.
I’m at Costco once or twice a week for their organic produce. Best prices.

When I was pregnant my Dr told me I needed more iron & she said dried apricots were a good source so also bought them at Costco. Nice grocery haul.

Hahaha yes it's so true! I actually just started out with the Instant Pot's timetable and kind of adjusted based on how I like my beans. So definitely start here! instantpot.com/instantpot-cooking-time/#tab-id-3
I find that older beans need longer to cook, maybe 5-10 minutes extra. 🤗
I'm looking forward to your baked "eggs" recipe. Maybe you can do some sort of crustless quiche
Holy moley that is expensive!
@@JazzedatHome I didn’t try baking powder yet! Yes that could be a game changer. Good reminder! 😃
Yeah, I think it could be a game changer, too, because eggs are supposed to be fluffy, right? Thanks 😊@@LetsEatPlants
Awesome!!! I love how you and Derek costcos have the good firm tofu. My costco still has the carton with all the fluid in it. I prefer the one who have in the video.
Yes this is the best tofu!! Agree so lucky our Costco carries it. Maybe ask yours to see if they can get it in instead!
@@LetsEatPlants ooohhh thats a great idea, thanks!!!
There were some of this product in Taiwan, too
Nice! 😃
Super helpful! Thank you.
So glad to hear it! 🤗
@@LetsEatPlants If we don’t see you for a while, sending best wishes! 💕😊🍼
@@sherri. Thank you Sherri! 🤗🤗🤗
❤
It is our first! Thank you for the tip! That’s a great idea and they did say we could bring in a cooler. 😃
@@LetsEatPlants wonderful! Congratulations 🤗❤️
The panic buying before baby! 6 jars of broth paste, I love it. That was so me last year.
😂😂😂 Right!? I’m sure I’ll want to go out and go to the store occasionally because I actually love grocery shopping, but hoping to keep it to fresh produce. 😅 We’ll see how that pans out! Lol!
you can use broth/broth paste in so much more than soup!!!!!!!!!
Yes so true! 🙌🏻🙌🏻 What are your favorite dishes to use it in?
Funny, we have Bob's Redmill steel cut oats out west at costco
We used to! They changed it out a few years ago here.
Just checked and ours is 6g per 1 cup. Curious how much the one in the states has!
They have some great deals too.)
When I’m back visiting family in Cali, I always go to Trader Joe’s or farmer’s markets. I’ve never been to a wegmans but I’ve heard good things! 😃
I’ve heard you can also get a friend to get Costco gift cards and that way you don’t need a membership! Just another option! If checking to see if Costco is still worth it for you, you could try that and jot down some of their prices to compare to what you usually pay. 🤗
I do “Swiss water” coffee. No chemicals
That’s the same as the Kicking Horse that I showed. 😊
better than Bullion makes a vegan chicken flavor paste also. It is really good.
Yes! I've had that one and the "no beef" one as well. Both are great! Wish they were easier to find. 😊
is the sodium lower in the veggie BTB for soups?
I haven't compared it to boxed broth (which will vary per brand), but BTB does have a reduced sodium version! amzn.to/3vo4pp7
Another awesome video Maddie even though sadly 😭 there is no Costco near me (have to travel to Glasgow from my area). Great that there is a good selection of vegan foods in Costco. Love 🥰 the video and love 💕 Maddie & ❤Q.
Thanks David! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
OMG ! Those fig truffles are so delicious! :) I remember I bought them once and they disappeared pretty quickly lol :)
Hahaha yes I was pleasantly surprised with the them. 😀
@@LetsEatPlants So good! I had no idea either but once I tried, i couldn't stop lol So now I only buy Costco's regular dried figs and they last a little longer ;) still delicious though
@@vegan.enlightenment 😂🙌🏻🙌🏻
Do you find organic frozen berries are imported from countries either in Europe, South America or CHINA?
Yes, definitely imported, as most of our food here in Canada is. Usually I see they're from South America or Mexico.
Costco here in the states are cheaper than what you paid for your frozen fruit I noticed and I just paid $4.99 for a 6 pk of tofu.
The one I saw last year wasn’t Calcium fortified
That’s awesome! Where in the states are you? I can’t believe how expensive the frozen fruit is getting here. 😭😭😭
Love One Degree.
Me too!
2:40. Are those monster blueberries or tiny pancakes?
Hahahaha tiny pancakes I think. ☺️☺️
Would really love your recipes for different dried beans in the instant pot! Thank you 😊

Buy an upright freezer! Best investment ever, even if its in the dining room its worth it🤣
Yes, we’ve been looking! 😅 I didn’t want to have to put it in our kitchen/dining area as the space is pretty small… but I’m thinking maybe the garage? 🤔 I do think it will be worth it! 😂🙌🏻🙌🏻
I hate that Costco doesn’t sell the same stuff in all locations. I have never seen plain soy milk at my Costco, only the vanilla.
I hate that too! 🥺 I wonder if we can petition them to bring in items we want based on what we see at other locations.
wow your products at Costco are different than in the US for a good 1/3
So true! It's always interesting to me to see what different Costcos have. Even in our area there's pretty big differences amongst stores!
A LOT of broth 😍
😝😝
Watching Costco deal videos is always somewhat disappointing as what is carried in Canada is often different from what is available to consumers in the Chicago area. My local warehouses do not carry many of the products mentioned in this video :(.
Oh yea, it is interesting how different Costcos carry different items! Check and see if there's anyone making Costco hauls for Chicago. 😃
In summary, consuming vegan foods can not only benefit personal health but also contribute to animal welfare, environmental sustainability, and food safety. Incorporating more plant-based foods into your diet can be a positive choice for both you and the planet.
Absolutely! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
You’re nesting!!
Hahaha definitely. 😅 My nesting is all food related it seems… I just want to shop/ stock up and bake! Lol. Waiting for that “cleaning nesting” to kick in. 😜
That bullion is way too salty for me and not organic
We buy the organic one! And you can make it less salty by adding more water. 😊
I like to use (after grinding) the Kirkland Salt-Free seasoning to make quick veggie broth.
@@aureliaglenn2220 Great idea!
The soy milk has carrageenan in it! That is a no no, especially if you are pregnant. I have been buying organic Silk unsweetened. You can get a better buy if you buy in bulk at your grocery store. Just put in a special order.
Actually ours doesn’t! Maybe you are checking the US version?
Here’s the one we buy: www.costco.ca/kirkland-signature-organic-soy-beverage%2c-946-ml%2c-6-count.product.100417879.html
That is the US one! That is so unfair you get the good stuff and we can’t!! lol! Thanks for letting me know!
@@kasathome1 I'm wondering if Canada maybe banned it?? I checked another couple brands we like to buy occasionally and they don't have it listed as an ingredient either.
Better than Bouillon... GMO product 😑
Even the organic one?
